Jones saying it was ankle ligament damage leaves a recovery timeline very open depending on the severity it can be 6 weeks to the end of the season. Hoping the fact he was able to walk over and take a long throw in before he could continue will mean it’s more likely the former
It looked to me as if taking that throw made it worse

Ah man, let’s hope it’s not too long.

Medial/deltoid ankle ligament damage is always worse than lateral ligament of the ankle. It’s a much stronger tissue that supports balance and structure more than the outside.

It also is fairly common for the injury to be part of another injury around the same region, such as a small fracture of the bottom of the tibia. It takes a lot for the force to be inverted.

Let’s hope that the scan and specialist today has not come back with too much bad news.

Worse case in ligament isolation is it’s torn bad enough and he requires surgery. That would be at least 3 months, probably more 4/5 months. If he has another injury away from the ligaments, again you’re likely looking at least 3 months.

Best case scenario is it’s a moderate grade 2 that requires a period of immobilisation and gradual therapy. You’re still looking at around 6-8 weeks.

My hope, and complete guess, is that we won’t see Josh until the beginning of December, just after the November international break. I predict he’ll miss around 10 or 11 games.

Let's hope it is not a season ending injury.

I don't know why, but it feels that something like this could happen to Josh in every game I see him play. I can't quite work out why though!

Most games Josh Edwards is in the wars. He gives 100% every games and never pulls out of a challenge.
Hopefully this injury is not as serious as it looks.
The left back injury curse that affected Wiggins, Page, Purrington etc does seem to strike the Left back and LWB position more than most.

Just found this from Cawley - quote from NJ:

“He sees a specialist tomorrow (today), so we see where we are. He landed awkwardly and tweaked ligaments on the inside of his ankle, which is a bit of a rare one.”
I did that recently. Was an absolute nightmare healing, took me 6 months before I could run on it again, though I doubt Josh is going to be at the mercy of the NHS like I was
  • He's picked up 2 nasty injuries in 2 seasons. I wouldn't want him to lose any intensity but he might need to vary his tempo a little when challenging to avoid these impacts.
