It was the pre-season game in Austria.
  • Elfsborg correct, July 2016, Austria. Russell Slade manager.
Spent 4-5 days in Vienna, then hired a car to drive to the games.
I remember entering the ground, while the players were warming up, and I walked past Henderson, in goal, and he walked over to me and said, " you must be f**king mad, but well done!"
I was the only Charlton fan at the game, that must be a first!
  • I went to one of the games, together with VA Junior. I even remember meeting you there!  :)

Didn't know cycling Mikey was a charlton fan.
  • Yes, one of the games had about 5 Charlton supporters there, but the second preseason friendly I was there all alone, billy no mates🥺

Your posts remind me of less than 3 years ago when I was the only person In The Oak for 30 mins, between 45 mins and 15 mins before the KO of our Vertu  Trophy game V Brighton U21s.

Charlton's lowest attendance at The Valley was 662 for a match against Brighton & Hove Albion U21 on November 2, 2022. This is lower than the 740 fans who attended a match against Swansea City U21 on November 13, 2018, and the 1,336 for the game against Leyton Orient on December 10, 2024.

    • Lowest Attendance: 662 (vs. Brighton & Hove Albion U21, November 2, 2022)
Second Lowest: 740 (vs. Swansea City U21, November 13, 2018) Third Lowest: 1,273 (vs. Aston Villa U21, October 10, 2023)

I would be grateful if you could please never, ever mention this again. I have done my best to block this competition from my mind for my entire existence and in particular since 2009, and would like to train my mind now into a stage that it believes it has never existed (but without a degenerative brain issue)

Isn't that worse than the Full Members Cup gates at Selhurst?

I wanted to go to this game but it was proving problematic getting a date, venue and  k/o time.
At one point I was thinking of going via Budapest due to the cost of getting to Vienna direct.
How did you manage to find out details of your game in the photo?

Yes, they were 821 & 817 from memory against Bradford C & Birmingham.

Details of the pre-season games in Austria were published on the Charlton website. I just organised a holiday to Vienna to coincide with the dates shown. Another Charlton player took the photo, but I can't remember who
