Any good restaurant recommendations in the NW Kent area?

Grandparents are less mobile than before and we're looking for a good restaurant that we can all meet up at, somewhere between Charlton and Strood essentially, ideally in the A2/A20 belt or close enough to either to be a fairly simple drive. Not that fussed on cuisine, just want somewhere halfway decent for a birthday meal that would be easy enough for a group of 8 to book (early November)

If you like Italian then I could recommend the coach house which is in Ruxley Manor garden centre, not the cheapest mind you and not open most Sundays or Mondays.1

The Hilltop restaurant in Wrotham is good and family friendly2

Bartellas on the A227 Wrotham Road is a great restaurant. Always friendly service and good food.2

Friend of mine always raves about the Hengist in Aylesbury. Never been myself but he really likes it. He is a Palarse fan though, so can't promise anything about his taste or judgement.0

+1 hilltop. Owner Darren is a good laugh and some very interesting history associated with the building (great train robbers and reggae club nights, not at the same time).superdulvertonred said:The Hilltop restaurant in Wrotham is good and family friendly1 -
Just a lunchbox in it, would be my guess0

I'll give the moat a vote. Only been once but 14 of us went there a few months back and every single one of us thought the food was top notch. Defo need to go back there.mistrollingin62 said:The Moat, London Road, Wrotham.1 -

I like that one. A real old school Italian, never has to my knowledge changed a thing on its menu in the past 20 years or more. I think I'm correct in saying they are Charlton supporters, they used to have a few pictures up on the walls.CharltonKerry said:If you like Italian then I could recommend the coach house which is in Ruxley Manor garden centre, not the cheapest mind you and not open most Sundays or Mondays.
They also own Du Amici in Chislehurst, which I think is a lot better although is very much similar to Ruxley in terms of menu and atmos.0 -
Great character. Excellent food but not always easy to book as it's so popular.BalladMan said:
