Introduction
One of the benefits of being in the Championship these days, is the fact that we have to concern ourselves over whether games will be postponed for International breaks or not. As a result though it feels a lifetime ago since our last League fixture, a 2-0 loss at the hands of Preston. Our return to League action will also see us back at the Valley for one and only time this month... This Saturday will surely act as a stark reminder as to how settled we suddenly find ourselves as a Football Club... Long may it continue!!

If there is any certainty over one side being relegated from the Championship this season, then its surely Sheffield Wednesday, their plight has been the talk of the Division, even before a Football was kicked in anger. It even seems a common theme these days, for at least one Football club to start a season with ownership issues, and on a personal note, I cant remember the last time there wasn't a year in the Football League when that wasn't the case somewhere.
Sheffield Wednesday, despite their issues with Dejphon Chansiri, are understandably unwilling to take their fate sitting down, and whilst they've got their issues off the pitch, they're not quite doomed on it. After all, they're not the side from Sheffield that you'd expect to see propping up the Division, even at this early stage of the campaign. In terms of results, their young side has represented the Owls quite commendably, they've only won a single game, but have three draws as well, two of those resulting in 2-2 draws away from home against our fellow sides promoted from League One last year, so we'll be hoping to buck that particular trend this weekend.
In terms of the squad as a whole, and well... this is a young Sheffield Wednesday team under Henrik Pedersen, but two names stand out in the squad (other than our mate Barry Bannan) who could be a threat; Pierce Charles for one in the opposition goal, has certainly kept results reasonable so far, whilst Bailey Cadamarteri at the other end of the pitch, will be one to watch; Cadamarteri saw a move to Manchester City break down in August, and is the Son of former Everton Striker; Danny Cadamateri.

On the mention of Bailey Cadamarteri, its worth mentioning that he'll be well familiar with four of the Addicks on potential show this weekend. The Striker is a full Jamaican International and along with Kaheim Dixon, Tyreece Campbell, Karoy Anderson and Amari'i Bell, faced up against Curacao and Bermuda in World Cup Qualifiers over the course of the last week or so. The three Jamaicans still at Sparrows Lane (what with Dixon on loan at Crawley), seemingly came through their International unscathed and have taken a big step to performing on the world stage next summer.
As a result of Campbell's involvement against Millwall after the last International break, you'd expect him to step back into the side, the same will probably be said for Bell, not least because of our weakened defence at present, but worst case scenario, we do have Onel Hernandez who could step in at Left Wing-Back if absolutely needed.
Josh Edwards and Matty Godden remain our notable absentees going into this next run of fixtures.

Excellent preview as always FA.
I see this as a must win game with a couple of tough away games to follow.
Despite their problems Sheffield Wednesday have done better than a lot of pundits thought they would, the Coventry result aside.
I expect a tough game on Saturday but I do believe we should have too much for them.

Sheffield Wednesday have been very good away from home, only losing on the opening day.I’m still confident though, we are very strong at The Valley. Wednesday don’t have much depth or options to bring on from the bench, so I think this could be another game where the difference is the last 25 minutes and our finishers coming on off the bench
I’d like to see Leaburn up top with TC, and Kelman paired with Olaofe. I think switching up the the pairings will get more out of Kelman, and Leaburn and TC had a good partnership last season.

Pierce Charles is injured he’s only played the 2 games this season, Cadamarteri returning from international duty, and Sheffield Wednesdays best CB is injured.Wednesday have a good away record but this is a must win, need to see the strikers score as well if they can’t score against a natural LWB playing LCB, not even their best U21 CB, Iorfa when watching him is a L1 defender and the GK who contributed a big part to Cardiffs relegation I’d sack off the whole forward line and go back in for Bonne and Taylor5

I'm hoping that the break has given our squad time to thoroughly rest and regain the zip n zest they had at the start of the season and which had faded a bit in the last couple of games.
This is one we should win, BUT of course there are no easy games in the Champ for us, and Wednesday are metaphorically fighting for survival and like any wounded beast, will give life (and football games) a right good go
I'll be disappointed if we don't win.7 -

I believe this game will be the type of one that determines whether or not we get enough points on the board to stay up this year when we get to the end of the season. They’re likely to among the relegation candidates, so I see it as vital we try to take the 3 pts off them.
I also think with the defeat to Preston and the latest pathetic intl break and the fact the days are getting shorter means the feel good factor from promotion last season is going to be properly tested now. Games come thick and fast, no easy teams, injuries, suspensions and playing at a higher level. The season has already started, but for want of a better term here, it feels like it really starts again on Saturday5 -

The first game this season were fav and expected to win .. but even with all their off the field problems this sometimes galvanises the players and they find an extra 10/20% .. so this is a awkward game …..but expect us to get a nice 2-1 win …. Team selection one change from Preston game Campbell out , after lot of travelling this week and either Apter or Olaofe replacing him

Only seen them once this season and that happened to be the 5 nil drubbing by Coventry. Defensively not great at all, don't think the protests helped. Attacking wise without Barry they are pretty lost. He can still pin a ball. If we manage to mark him out like England should of done against Pirlo all those years back we shouldn't encounter too many issues. Then again like I said only seen them the once and Coventry are top of the league.0

For those who read and commented on my post in the MATCH PREVIEW ahead of our first home game of the season against Watford, you might remember I mentioned that my brother-in-law was planning to fly down from Scotland with his foster child to bring him to see Charlton for the first time.

Fast forward a few months, and they’re trying again, this time flying down a day earlier to avoid any mishaps. They’re arriving tomorrow. The best part? The boy still has no idea he’s going to the game. When he finds out, he’s going to be absolutely buzzing.
My brother-in-law started packing a bag for him yesterday. He wanted to include the Charlton shirt we’d sent up a while ago, only to realise the boy was already wearing it! Normally, not a problem, but this time, a bit of secret washing, drying, and packing had to happen behind the scenes.
We’re planning to wait until Saturday morning to tell him, otherwise, he won’t sleep with the excitement. He’ll definitely want to hit the club shop too, so we’ll be aiming to get to The Valley nice and early, especially with how big the queues have been outside in recent games.

They're unbeaten in their last 3 away, 4 including EFL Cup. Only one away defeat all season at Leicester, and that was a late winner with Wednesday down to 10 men. They seem to be absolutely fine away from home.
That said, play as we can do, especially at home - doesn't need to be up to the high standard we saw against Blackburn - and we should win.
Feel it really important we win this one - extend that gap between us and the bottom 3, and a team currently in it.
Certainly a game we should have the confidence to play on the front foot, take some risks. We don't need to grind out a low-scoring win but suspect it may be the gamelan.

Caelan Cadamateri (aged 15) went to Man City in the summer (Baileys brother). I am not sure Bailey was ever linked with them or is as highly thought of.
Could do with a win here, on paper it is as simple a game as you get in the Championship but it is still early enough in the season that their players will have fight in them and their first 11 is ok, it's just got no strength. Playing them after a 2 week break to freshen up for them is a shame.2 -
