They don't seem to rate their goalie and the 22 Otegbayo too highly.

They seem overjoyed that the goalie may get a three game ban.

Be interesting to see who their Goalkeeper is on Tuesday night, according to Wiki one of their young Goalkeepers (without a Wiki page) is called Logan Stretch which seems a bit ideal for that role.

I can narrow it down to two reasons.

    1. The manager. Jones is a far better manager at this level than Parkinson.
    2. The defence. Only Sheffield Wednesday have conceded more than their 16 goals.

Wrexham don't have much trouble scoring (only 4 teams have scored more), so if they can sort the defence out they should start to move up the table.

The article suggests we’re performing better than Wrexham because we’ve been clinical in front of goal whereas Wrexham have been wasteful despite scoring 6 more goals than us.

I can’t imagine anyone would really have called us “clinical” so far this season. We’re just a better team, with a better manager and know how to defend.

We should be more points clear of them.

Exactly! We haven't been clinical - if we had, we'd have a few more points as dropped points when we the better team

    You can now anyway.

Click on your profile pic in the top right.  Click on the pic again in the next page and then on the black head and shoulders icon....

The TWTD site is an absolute mess. A lot of people on it, but everyone seems to start a new thread. There’s a full page of separate threads dissecting tonight’s game.

This ‘tractor-boys’ site at least has a match thread - I haven’t read through it, but TWTD was giving me a headache.

It’s when you take a look at other teams’ fan sites that you realise how good Charltonlife is.

All decent comments from theirs on the BBC match report so far, giving credit where due.

Think it can help when opposition fans have been the underdog team in recent years. Ipswich had their time in L1 but werent expecting to be in the PL so quick so last year must have been quite grim viewing for them at times

Fascinating seeing how badly they've turned on McKenna. A manager who got them consecutive promotions up to the Premier League, their first season back there since 01/02, is now 'tactically clueless'. It was always going to be a tough season for them; they didn't spend enough to survive because they couldn't possibly so instead they built the kind of team that they felt could be a force in the Championship the next season. The problem is those exciting players they wanted to develop for the future got pummelled for an entire year, won 4 league games all season and got -46 goal difference. It's the same with Southampton this season and Luton the season before, losing can become a habit and the confidence you lose getting pumped 6-0 by City and conceding 4 or more goals 9 times across the season is hard to overturn.

They're 13th, 5 points off the Playoffs with a game in hand over most of the teams above them. They've got to recover from a really tough season and they're not even doing that badly, it's shocking how quickly the manager who was courted by Man Utd and Chelsea a year ago apparently now has absolutely no idea how to manage a team and no clue on how to set up a team tactically. Funny old game

Across BBC comments and Reddit all the Ipswich comments I've seen have been gracious and fair - definitely far less of a sense of entitlement that you sense from a lot of other clubs in this division. These two are nice:

Charlton are an absolute brick wall at the back. They’ve got a quality keeper and a backline that just blocks and heads everything away. We could have played all night and not scored. Fair play to them and I hope they keep it up.

I’ll start off by saying well played Charlton. Very organised side that is considerably better than the sum of its parts. Expected shithousery but saw very little of it, just a really solid side that you should be proud of. Genuinely wish you the best as you’ve had a glum decade or so and I don’t begrudge you the fun your fans were having in that second half.
Always had a soft spot for Ipswich after the home leg of the 1998 play off semis when their fans were applauding us after the game. Decent bunch

I'd still expect Ipswich to be in the top 6 come the end of the season. If they win their game in hand, which is the rearranged game v Blackburn (who are awful) then they'd be 2 points off the play offs so it's hardly a crisis.

McKenna will have learnt a lot last night from the guys he brought in and once he reverts back to what he deems their first choice XI, i'm certain he won't be making that many changes again in a hurry.

I’m loving how most clubs  state how bad they were on the day / how awful we are, and then we get a positive result, we are so lucky every team almost has an off day against us. I just can’t fathom what the common denominator is. I’ve been saying we are better than people think. The club has an all round feel like the curbs days us proving people wrong. I love it!!
  • Ipswich were poor second half because we made them look poor.

Ipswich bought their way out of L1, went up again and have parachute money. We have spent less to try and stay in the championship than they spent to get out of L1.

of course we won’t finish above them. The fact that their fans are even discussing it shows how far we have come

As is the theme for all our victories. Opposition fans will always think we caught them on an off day because they don't see us enough to realise that we specialise in creating off days
