MickeyBennett said:Incredible performance - weird that the team did not seem leggy at all. Was surprised given mediocre performance against sheff Wednesday.
Thought Kelman/Tanto looked like more balanced partnership so would go with that again for Hull.
Want to see Leaburn/Campbell start together at some point as they look to have good understanding. Though appreciate this would impact the way we press teams.
Now that we are promotion contenders maybe teams will get wuse to our tactics and start sitting back against us. Leaburn/Campbell would be ideal in this scenario.
The fact that we took great advantage second half should not blind us to the problem of only having two pressing forwards.2 -

Been plenty of games where for 60 minutes we've withstood similar pressure with TC being on the pitch, only for the subs to turn the game around to steal a 1-0.6 -

From what I saw (and made out), it was 50/50…..was the “whole circumference of the ball” outside the line, the bottom surface of the ball certainly was but highly debatable from what we’ve seen IMHO.
When this happens light is seen between the bottom of the ball and the line this sometimes misleads the viewer to believe that the whole circumference is outside the line……especially when it’s happening so fast. The shadow would have been from the floodlights which were not shining straght down onto the ball. That said, SKY actually showed a freeze frame at the point TC crossed the ball and it didn't look completely out - the pitch side of the ball looked like it hadn't fully crossed the line. But yes, like you, I couldn't give a toss!3 -
ShootersHillGuru said:I’m done with trying to second guess this Charlton team. I thought Ipswich at home would have too much for us last night and after the first 35 minutes I was expecting a 3 - 0 but not a 0 - 3. Yes we rode our luck but we grafted and never dropped our heads when we could have actually been 3 - 0 down. Perhaps the real difference between us and them was that although we’re not all conquering we’re not fragile and I think Ipswich showed last night second half that they are brittle. They collapsed. Jones has built a group that are a proper team. No egos, no slackers and battlers to a man. Will that be enough to get us into playoff contention ? I still don’t think so but I said the same last season. What I do know is that any team we play will have to be on their game to beat us. First season back and that’s all we can ask for. Away support magnificent .2

Bloody hell @Braziliance, you looked like you were gonna have a cardiac arrest mate, great video, and love those Ipswich fans with their ,"little 'ol Charlton we will win easy, if you can keep the score down" stuff...
We fu*kin' showed them big time...NJ is a legend5 -

Well done Nathan and the boys, wonderful stuff.1 -
There's not much I can say at 14 pages in that hasn't already been said about the game last night. One thing I did notice though was that at 2 or 3 up last night there was a point we had the ball on the edge of their box and there were 6 other boys in red in the picture on my tv screen. We absolutely suffocated them and it makes a huge difference to see us going for the jugular rather than sitting back and defending a lead.11

The fact that we took great advantage second half should not blind us to the problem of only having two pressing forwards.Could definitely argue we needed TC as an out ball to get us up the pitch, which Tanto wasn’t really offering. But I don’t think pressing was our problem, our struggle was that we couldn’t get out of our half and played too many passes at the back or got caught in possession in our own half.1 -

Braziliance, best vlog yet, good luck up at Hull on Saturday.
When you asked what happened to Ipswich in 1978, they beat Arsenal at Wembley 1-0 in the Cup Final. I know because I was there!1 -

Still buzzing. It feels like had they taken a chance and the lead we would probably have lost it. But we have to remember we had two great chances in the first half. We are probably as bad a team to go behind to there is statistically and here's to going ahead against Hull on Saturday. Where Dean Holden is the assistant manager. Well done Nathan Jones and Gillesphey has to have qualified as a Charlton Legend by now.6

Amazing result and second half performance.
In Jones we trust.
Got this flag made up after the Blackburn win to hang behind Covered End goal where we sit....he thoroughly deserves it.

The TEAM is more important than one player and he is already playing his part.
Not so sure about post Christmas though, surely Godden has a good shout over Kelman when he is fit?0 -
I thought the issue up front, first half, wasn't our inability to press (because we were pressing and Ipswich were just quite good at playing around it, as you would expect of a recently relegated side with plenty of ex Premier League players). More our issue was our passing wasn't sharp or accurate enough and we lacked a hold up man to get on the ball and allow us to get up the pitch a bit. In that regard, Leaburn might have made more of a difference, than TC, as he showed second half how good he is at that when he gets balls into his feet.
Neither Tanto or Kelman had bad games, per say, first half but we didn't give them much to work with in terms of accurate forward passes. Once the midfield started to get to grips with the game that changed and the forward players (all 4 of them) looked better and more involved.
Also worth remembering that by the time TC and Leaburn were on yesterday we were already 2-0 up. Ipswich were both chasing the game and in general disarray at that point which left huge gaping spaces for the two of them to exploit. A luxury our forwards are not often afforded when so many of our games are tight affairs won or lost by the odd goal. They were both bound to look better in those circumstances, although still deserve praise for causing quite as much chaos for the Ipswich defence as they did.

Clarke, young , cajuste, Akpom caused issues 1st half, young was very clever in becoming spare a lot, we seemed to deal with it better after the break. Only Clarke and Cajuste were giving it a go by the end. Was fearing Phillogene and Hirst coming on but we snuffed them out really well.1
