Early days but Apter could be a candidate for a loan in January.
  • 9 mins today
    Hooked after 55 at Cambridge
Didn’t even come on at Barrow
    37 mins at Notts County.
looks like Dixon has fallen out of favour if he can’t even get into a starting XI for a bottom L2 side, does make you question will he be good enough for Charlton in the future
If any of our Jamaican lads perform well at the World Cup (provided they qualify), could put them in the spotlight.
Not out of the question that TC especially could turn it on.

I can see Fullah going on loan if Carey, Knibbs and Berry all stay fit, but I think Apter will continue as one of our options at RWB and off the bench.

Who knows though, maybe we’ll get 1 or 2 surprise signings which mean an unexpected player or two go on loan.

The Dixon situation is a bit weird but I think Scott Lindsay has been on a bit of shit run not having won in a month  until yesterday with Crawley and was just trying to get a result from anywhere. Hopefully Kaheim gets a start next Saturday away at Boreham Wood in the FA Cup , can't see why we'd block that

Fullah is the kind of player I would keep around the place. Mind you I would’ve also said that about M’bick.
I would not let Fullah out on loan to a league two club, his trajectory is higher than that.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Fullah. I agree he’s better than a L2 loan, but the challenge is he’ll eventually need game time to develop and other clubs at a higher level might not want to risk taking an 18 year old on his first loan.

I also wouldn’t want him to go to a bottom 4 L1 club who are struggling and play route one. He needs to get on the ball in dangerous area where he can score and create.

What makes Fullah better than a L2 loan though. Us as a fanbase can see his potential but no L1 side looks at a 18yr old with 2 cup games worth of men’s football from a side just promoted out of the same division and think Yh he’s easily going to be good enough.

6 months with the first team 6 months on loan in L2 gives him a good chance of experiencing our setup style and playing with good players but also challenging himself to handle the intensity and environment of men’s football.

It would probably be better sending him to a club that plays route one as well, why get him to play possession based passive football on loan when he comes back here and expected to be a box-crashing midfielder like Carey/Knibbs/Berry

Jones clearly rates Fullah. I wonder if there is a club in League One that are struggling a bit and would trust his recommendation?

I think how well pitched the majority of our loans have been would mean a L1 club would take a punt on him if NJ thought it was right. I don’t think it’ll happen though, he’ll stick around

Think Mbick may act as a blueprint as to why we may be more open to letting Fullah out on loan. We’ve loaned our 8 players in the EFL/Scotland this season and it’s only 2 players in Dixon/Zach Mitchell where it’s not really working out thus far which is a good return. First season we’ve sent this quantity of players out so could be something we shift towards doing more in the future

Just my opinion, I believe he has the most potential out of our young players in the first team squad or our on loan.

He might have to take a L2 loan but there’s a reason he’s been so close to being in our first team squad despite his age.

I wasn’t suggesting the other extreme of tippy tappy possession football, just not the opposite pure route one, which we don’t play.

Think it’s hard to find a Charlton fan who doesn’t think Fullah has the most potential in this squad. But I’d be shocked if we could find a L1 club willing to take him on loan they’d rather be looking at Man United’s youngsters than ours

I’ve no idea how well Man Utd’s loanees get on when they get the opportunity to play for a L1 or L2 club on a regular basis but I would have thought the prospect of getting somebody from Charlton who has also been on the pitch for the first team and already know it’s a big step up from the youth teams is probably a very tempting option for a lot of clubs in those leagues given how well the others we’ve been loaning out seem to have been doing. It’s not just about talent, it’s having the right attitude and approach as well which clearly our young lads and even the experienced ones seem to have in spades.

Probably pie in the sky and would never happen. Given how much NJ clearly rates Fullah I wonder if he'd be on the phone to Wilshire and SCP to see if Luton would take him on loan?

Don't think its that much of a fantasy, the relationship between Charlton and Luton seems to be getting stronger with each appointment the clubs make, really wouldn't be suprised to see a player or 2 go on loan there, especially if they reman in League 1 for a while.
  • He can be a sweetener for Colchester when we take Mbick back In January. Win/win given the good job they’ve been doing with Micah

They fit the profile, clubs we send players to need to be Victorious, the manager needs to be Intelligent, of course we'd rather they be Local, and the football they play needs to be Entertaining.

If only there was a snappy acronym for all that...

Apter is not a RWB and unlikely ever to be unless he really bulks up.

Not a traditional RWB I agree, but that’s not how NJ uses him - when Apter plays there, he’s very attacking and has freedom to get in and around the box to shoot, as well as high and wide to cross, with the LWB playing a lot more cautiously.

That has suited him, he had some good games in August, but it’s probably more a question whether NJ moves away from that set up. With Bree and Bell/Edwards as the WBs, it’s more of a standard 3-5-2 rather than the lopsided one that suits Apter.

Think this would be a great shout, a team that plays a similar style to us, and won’t have to move far away from home for a first loan. Also a couple of spots in their formation for him, they don’t have much cover at wing back at all but also he’d have opportunities as an 8 or 10 in midfield

6 months ago we didn’t even know Fullah existed and now we genuinely think after 2 carabao cup games, he’s going to be able to earn himself a move to a current top 6 L1 side on loan and play regularly. I’d be happy if he went on loan to a L2 side and had the same sort of impact Mbick has had in his first proper start in men’s football

Only if we have signed Fukuda, who looks like a better fit at RWB.

How great to know we have him on a long-term contract. I like the bit where their player bounced off his chest.
