How to beat Watford

I know everyone's got things on their minds - Stu_of_se7 = turning 32, WSS = dancing in the street, etc - but what team do you think we should put out for the battle on Saturday? Will we get to play football or will it be a game for our tougher players? I am getting worried about the lack of up for it-ness on here! Bench players are just as important for your selection.

Let's ave it Charlton!

    Carson
    Young
    Fortune
    El Kak
    Thatcher
    Thomas
    Song
    Holland
    Hughes
    Ambrose
    D Bent (on his todd)

    Bench:
Faye (cover for both mid and def)
    Keeper
    JFH
    Sank
    Romm

I am assuming M Bent is out along with Bougey and HH.

For me the team that played after M.Bent went off did enough so only the forced change at the back with JFH getting the nod

Bougy / HH - if not JF

    Randolph

Lots of ariel battles - we must have big boys playing and win the midfield scrap otherwise i would have had ZZ in as well. If big bent is fit 2 up top and move holland out wide and play narrow - not a game for prettyness - we have to scrap and win!!!
there are going tobe a lot of

the question is, do we attempt to take Watford on at their own game, or try putting them on the backfoot with our own ?

I think we have to make them play it our way because i don't believe all around the park we will match them for strength and power

After our performance on Saturday I dont think Watford will come out all guns blazing, they ain't gonna wanna get caught on the break, for that reason a 5 man midfield is imho the best way to go, hold up midfield with nice support to Dazza.

When the game gets a little stretched and Watford legs are getting tired if it's needed throw in Rom to run at people and/or ZZ to place some sexy balls through to Dazza.

I'd leave Hasslebank out, he's probably still knackerd from last weekend, be fair lads, he moved more than 20feet!

Back to worrying about turning 31....

It does make me laugh when people are given the choice of any team whatsoever and Hughes gets in the first XI...

In my defence - I forgot about ZZ and Faye is woefully out of form - who do I put in a five man midfield that can tackle then? Romm!

I think for the first time this season we may actually get teams who are a little concerned when playing us, we have been push overs pretty much all season until the last six or seven games. Time for us to impose OUR game on other teams. Not interested in playing the Curbs way anymore, defensive 5 in midfield against bottom of the league, no thanks. Wins are what count now, we have no room to manouvre anymore. Gotta play 2 up front again, make them worry about us. Team picks itself after last week.

It also depends on the state of the pitch. The Valley pitch looks good for a passing game but from what I've seen on TV Vic Rd is cut up and suits Watford's aerial assault. This means we need to play their game with
    Carson
    Young
HH if fit, if not JF
    Elk
    Thatcher
    Ambrose
    Holland
    Song
    Hughes or Kish
    Thomas
    D.Bent

    Randolph
    JFH
    Faye
    Romm
Hughes or Kish or ZZ - just can't decide with these 3, all have their merits

Assume M.Bent & Bougey not fit

Last weeks team and bench (JFH to start) except HH for Diawara. If HH injured Fortune. M Bent on bench if injured SuperKev.

We have to go for all three points!!
  • Personally i think we should keep it as is (442) with Fortune in at the back and JFH up front. Pards will have seen Everton take Watford apart last week with 442 so i think we stick to what we've been playing well with and let them worry about us.
  • No Hughes please

The Vicarage Road pich is more suited to rugby...

Okay, I only put Hughes in there to stir up a debate (ahem).

    Stone the Sco!
  • 442, oh and score more goals than them...
