Looks like trains have bus replacements from Dartford to Plumstead on 01/11/25? Might be worth a check if you plan to travel that way.

Looks like best option from Medway is High Speed to Stratford. Then tube North Greenwich and then bus2
-
Gonna see if they let me on the team bus from the training ground rather than 2 busses from New Eltham4

we tend to drink at the abbey arms so i think our plan is uber/bus from Barnehurst to abbey wood few pints before, then lizzie line to Woolwich and then train to Charlton from Woolwich0

It’s so annoying they’ve closed both lines.Coming from Kent, the nearest open stations are Lee and Lewisham (both around 5km from The Valley). You can go to Lewisham and get a train back towards Kent, but after the game you’re gonna be in the long London-bound queue. So I think I’ll jog, walk or bus to/from Lee, or take my motorbike and worry about that for 2+ hours.0

How amazing would it be if there was a few Saturdays in which there wasn't a home match in which these works could have been done 🤔🤷♂️2

So that’s a potential 20k footy crowd & a good few thousand more for the fireworks display, who the fuck looks at the schedule & thinks “I know we will do engineering on one of the busiest clashes of the year” …unbelievable ain’t it…🤬

Guess they couldn't resist inconveniencing so many 'customers' on a single day.
Think i will use Liz line Woolwich to Abbey Wood, then bus. Or jubilee-canary wharf- Abbey wood then bus if the mood is right.0 -
As I understand it the schedules for engineering works are planned months and months in advance. For both this weekend and the Millwall match (when there was also a restricted service- initially due to be no trains between Charlton and Lewisham or Greenwich at all) these dates would have been set before fixtures were published. What we need is to ensure there is a review of the engineering work schedules once the fixtures are released.1

Twice I've lived very close to a railway line (last property we backed onto it) and we got a letter in the post less than a month before any engineering works were going to take place saying to be prepared for disruption & noise.
Sorry, but I dont believe engineering works are schedule more than a month or two beforehand.
Edited to say that the fixtures came out before the end of June......so 4 months ago. Even if works were scheduled for thus weekend its not beyond the wit if man to swap them for last weekend, or next weekend. Especially as Blackheath have a firework display every year. And that date doesn't change !0 -
It will be interesting to see if the club warns fans of the rail disruption or continues with the policy of keeping 'fans in the dark' so not to damage ticket sales.2

They are scheduled about a year in advance. That’s different from when they are publicised / communicated.golfaddick said:

Be aware that Blackheath Station is going to be rather busy because loads of people will get there to find A REPLACEMENT BUS SERVICE !!

This is the first fireworks display at Blackheath this decade (2019 was the last one) and was only announced / a done deal over the summer (it is now a paid ticketed event run by the people who do ally pally fireworks).golfaddick said:

As everyone has said above, a lot of logistics to sort for transport works and it happens a year in advance. Could probably be moved, but football fans are not front of the queue for symtpathy from national rail.1 -

The provisional version of the planned engineering works for all of 2027 was published on Friday of last week. They really are done a long time in advance so there's no excuse for the football league not looking at them, I would imagine the problem is that they don't particularly care0
