Take the point. We did well until we scored then Swansea dominated. Swansea probably the best side I've seen at the valley this season6
-
On the receiving end of a footballing lesson in the second half.
The last 30 minutes we didn't seem capable of getting into the final third in any kind of controlled possession. Playing it long Leaburn wasn't picking up many scraps. Set pieces no good. Nothing seemed to click, or seem likely to.
No criticism of the team, we've come a long way in a short time.
More lessons learned and we're more than happy with the point.6 -
Yep, I don't think anyone was expecting us to outplay Leicester, even though we lost, let alone beat Ipswich. And we've beaten one of last year's play-off teams and drawn with another as well.WSS said:Unless you expected us to be performing to be in 8th in the league (which I doubt very many did) at this point, we're over-performing.5 -
I think Knibbs, Apter, JRC and Karoy will all struggle to knock out Cov and Sonny... Only Doc bothers me enough to think he could be dropped but Nathan has some difficult decisions ahead but today was a good point all things being considered. However, I was so pleased for Kelman... Let's hope he drives on from here. Up next WBA who apparently were booed off by some fans today so let's make them uncomfortable on Tuesday.2

As someone said today (sorry I forgotten who it was), a year ago today, we limped past Southend United. Today, we drew with an established Championship club. We obviously fancied our chances to win but losing two defenders made it very tough at any level. We’re going well.3

Scrappy game first half. Swansea had some quality players and second half looked one of the better teams I've seen at the Valley this year.
Pleased Kelman broke his duck and hopefully will kick on. A very good finish it was.
Gave them too much time and sat too deep inviting them on and were punished for it.
Disappointed not to win and delighted that im disappointed with a draw and being 8th in the championship.
Let's dust ourselves off and do west brom under the lights Tuesday.5 -
What a great 2025 we have had at the Valley. Swansea will be 8-12th come May, pretty much my definition of a strong and established championship team which is absolutely what I want and hope we can be.2
-
Tuesday night will be tough after this. If Burke and Bell are out we have a yawning gap in defence, especially on the left. None of those who have played wingback other than Bree, Bell and Edwards have looked convincing. Maybe Costello could play there or Fullah, both risky in different ways.
We have a long string of tough games between now and Xmas. It could be a very difficult period.2 -
I think we are playing above ourselves. I didn’t expect us to be in 8th place at any stage in the league. Given our budget, the size and price of our squad and the relative Championship experience. Maybe you had more belief than me but we are above all three teams relegated from the Prem last year and also above the two teams that got automatic promotion from league one last year.SoundAsa£ said:

There is no team going going to run away with it and we are up in the mix. I still think we will end up lower mid table and would absolutely take that. We just need to keep moving away from the bottom whilst keeping an optimistic eye above us.
We are seriously over performing, hence the disappointment of a result and performance like today.
But we didn’t lose and it’s another point.Going to be a test going forwards with Edwards, Bell and Burke out but Jones will deal with it.
To me that is seriously over performing.17 -
Really happy for Kelman as I have always thought he is an amazing player and just needed that one goal to kick start his confidence. I think it says a lot that we can still scrape draws while playing badly however the lack of getting proper LWB cover is coming back to haunt us.2

First half relatively even, one cleared off the line and their keeper with a good save, we could have gone in one up. But two fundamentally important defenders go off injured.
Second half our shape and defense/midfield was unsurprisingly off and Swansea bossed it and in many ways should have won.
But our heros dug in and did well to get us over the line with a point.
The Swansea praise on here seems over the top, they were ordinary against us first half and only outplayed us when we were all over the place after the injuries, even then they only scored once.
Will be a tough two months assuming Bell and Burke out for a while which seems likely sadly.9 -
For my money I thought it was a good point considering we were not quite at our best and Swansea are a good side- possibly the best I've seen so far at the Valley this season.1
-
Pwr much past page 1. Hello myself catching up with this.
Felt they were the best we have played so far and played us at our own game. They had the higher energy overall and some nouse and skill expected of a more expensive squad. Point earned rather than 2 lost.
Tuesday will be very interesting as West Brom are also one of the better sides and I for one have recalibrated expectations to a defeat after today.

That was the hardest game we've had so far and the hardest game we will have all season. We’ve no doubt come up against better teams but give Swansea due credit that was two teams battling for a full 100 minutes, neither side giving any ground willingly. If both sides can maintain that approach and fitness then I’ll be surprised if either of them are not in the top four places come the end of the season. Both teams and managers should hold their heads up high come tomorrow morning when they’ve had a well deserved good nights sleep.2

11 points above 21st. I'd have laughed if someone had suggested we would be in that position even at this point.
The massive positive is that even when we aren't at our best, we still aren't losing.
Onwards and upwards.10 -
Agree with this, a good championship team would have beaten us comfortably in that second half. We were all over the place and then playing an unfamiliar system.Athletico Charlton said:First half relatively even, one cleared off the line and their keeper with a good save, we could have gone in one up. Swansea were playing an incredibly high back line, almost on the half way line, and squeezing us into our own half. We had no answer to it.4

1 defeat in the last 9 league games.8

The fact we are all disappointed after not playing well and still getting a point against an established Championship team shows how far we have come.
Some of the results from today show how open and tough this league is. Every point is hard earned and a step closer to safety.
So pleased for Kelman hopefully he will kick on now.
Not our day but another point on the board. Bring on WBA.10 -

PWR.
Disappointing to only draw at home having taken the lead but another point towards survival in this division which has to be the primary aim this season.

Meh.
Roll on Tuesday.1 -
I’d rather have been at the Valley today than watching us in the FA cup on Monday night at Tamworth !! So not gonna get carried awsy and be disheartened- Not being beaten when you’ve not played well is a good habit to have ! 20pts from 13 is excellent! Roll on Tuesday !2

A very strange game. Swansea showed no signs of their second half intent in the first half and even when we lost a player to injury, twice, they didn't seem to know what to do, they seemed content to deny us space and hit us on the break, but not very often. Come the second period and the malaise of the first was washed away by Kelmans great finish and then it was all Swansea, if their is a criticism of their dominance, it was that after they equalised, they couldn't find a winner. As for us, the injuries clearly played a part in our second half performance and losing the outlet of Tyreece when he went to wing back, just allowed them to pour forward. Hopefully Bell, isnt out too long but with Burke's injury record, you'd fear the worst. Interesting to see what Nathan does on Tuesday, but Campbell should not be a stand in wing back.5

Really? Swansea mighth have knocked it around nicely 40 yards from goal but they had two shots on target all afternoon compared to our 4. Not impressive stats from either team but a stat that favoured us. This was an even game from minute 1-96 and a point was fair. Worst game of the season and neither team deserved the winfenaddick said:As for today’s game, the injuries scuppered us as did NJ’s habit of only having one defender on the bench. TC was dangerous first half but wasted at LWB. Our midfield were outplayed and Ramsay had an off day. Ultimately we did well to escape with a point3 -
It should be mentioned again but to be on 20 points after 13 games is amazing. Yes, of course we will have a few dodgy games but just keep picking up points is the way forward plus with a couple of very good signings in January we should be fine.4

That isn’t over performing…….it’s simply performing better than you expected, that’s not over performing.sirjohnhumphrey said:

One of the smallest budgets and wages pad in the league, bookies favourites to go down but 8th. We are not out of place in the championship but come on, whe would have thought we would be 8th 3 months into the season.SoundAsa£ said:

Definitely a point gained in a game where Swansea could and, indeed, should, have taken all 3.
We were uncharacteristically loose and a bit ragged defensively in the first half, although Swansea still failed to remotely trouble Kaminski. The most dangerous moment came when Idah expertly controlled an excellent long pass from Vigouroux but then completely failed to shoot when in a great position and then totally ballsed up a pass to a colleague. Swansea’s attempts from distance were invariably high and wide and you can see why they don’t score many goals.
We had a few good forays down the flanks and Gillesphey drew a good save from their keeper from a corner. Overall, though, Swansea moved the ball much better than us and, coupled with the two unfortunate injuries, I was glad to hear the half-time whistle and have an opportunity for us to regroup.
The half had barely started when one of their central defenders misjudged the bounce of Coventry’s hooked ball into the box and - to everyone’s huge relief (not least his) - Charlie Kelman calmly waited for the ball to drop and neatly stuck the ball in off the underside of the bar. We then played some really good stuff for 5-10 minutes but were unable to get a second and Swansea then wrestled back control of the game. Odah’s finely struck shot gave them a deserved equaliser and they spurned a couple of good chances to win the game, none better than in injury time when Leaburn blocked an effort by the line and their guy managed to blast the ball over from point blank range.
Another point on the board and it was certainly hard won. A good sign that we can take something from a game with several of our players below their best. No one really stood out for us, although Carey and Coventry battled away well and Leaburn made a nuisance of himself in the second half.
Let’s hope the injuries aren’t too bad and that the players have plenty left in the tank for Tuesday. They had to cover a lot of ground this afternoon, given the opponent’s control of midfield.

Ok. We’re doing better than I thought we would with the resources we have available to us and the quality of the other teams in the league.SoundAsa£ said:
