We’re 8th in a crazy and unpredictable league with teams being hit for 3, 4 and 5 goals by teams below them.
There is no team going going to run away with it and we are up in the mix. I still think we will end up lower mid table and would absolutely take that. We just need to keep moving away from the bottom whilst keeping an optimistic eye above us.
We are seriously over performing, hence the disappointment of a result and performance like today.
But we didn’t lose and it’s another point.
Going to be a test going forwards with Edwards, Bell and Burke out but Jones will deal with it.
“Seriously over performing”…….what the hell are you on about, care to explain?
One of the smallest budgets and wages pad in the league, bookies favourites to go down but 8th. We are not out of place in the championship but come on, whe would have thought we would be 8th 3 months into the season.
Well it’s a good job the league doesn’t finish either by the bookies odds or the budget you have, otherwise there would be no point playing the matches, who would have thought we would get into the premier league the 1st time? And that’s the point nobody really knows, we are only overachieving if that’s your mindset, it’s not everyone’s. Most importantly NJ and the players.

Day to forget. Slow and leggy performance, thought Swansea showed us up a bit with their quality in the middle, fortunately our strength is restricting teams chances so they couldn't capitalise.

Thought our home support was poor. Valley almost full, playing against a good side and we are hovering around the play-offs, could barely string a chant together. Fans showing more enthusiasm at getting out of the stadium than backing the team inside.

Understand I'll get daggers for that, but I think the team deserve more support after the last year. We could still be slumming it in League 1, be nice to see us be vocal.

Ref was sh*te, nothing new there. Miles dragged down twice and he missed it both times.

Take the point, move on, put it right Vs West Brom where really, we need a result. A point closer to consolidating our Championship status 👍🏻

Think we might be forced into keeping the back 4 shape we finished the game with. A shame because we are so well drilled with our usual way of playing

Could be a big chance for Apter in his natural position on Tuesday

I listened to the Charlton Live podcast on the way to the game. I was wondering if we aren’t getting a little bit ahead of ourselves. I think to reach the playoffs we still need a playmaker, a 9/10 ‘er.
Been a great season so far though.

Another point toward safety - first and foremost target. Could have lost that so a good battling performance.

The important thing is despite the fact that this time last year we were pretty rubbish and mid table in L1 we are already at a point where we can be not really at it against a good team, lose two players to injury and still come away with a draw. I think plenty of us thought we would get turned over by established Championship sides on bad days at the start of the season but we’re still so tough to beat

More than happy with a point against an established championship side. One more to add to the total we need.

With the exception of the start of the QPR game, that's the worst I have seen us play this season. The number of mistakes we made were ridiculous. Swansea were threatening going forward and very dangerous on the counter, but just weren't good enough at getting shots on goal. A decent team would have absolutely hammered us today.

Like the last game against Hull, where I witnessed one of our fans spit at the opposition supporters, I seem to be encountering our worst fans.

Somebody collapsed in the East Stand prior to kick-off and the stewards closed off the entrance to blocks D&E, telling fans to use another entrance and walk to their seats. Everybody complied without complaining, apart from one fan who began arguing with the steward. After pretending to turn around and leave, he pushed past the steward the moment his back was turned, then proceeded to push past the medical staff assisting the fan as well. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour.

I think we are playing above ourselves. I didn’t expect us to be in 8th place at any stage in the league. Given our budget, the size and price of our squad and the relative Championship experience. Maybe you had more belief than me but we are above all three teams relegated from the Prem last year and also above the two teams that got automatic promotion from league one last year.
To me that is seriously over performing.
That isn’t over performing…….it’s simply performing better than you expected, that’s not over performing.
You perform how well or how bad you are doing at any given time, it’s neither over or under, can’t for the life of me fathom how people can suggest otherwise……..your form is simply what it is, good or bad.

Ok. We’re doing better than I thought we would with the resources we have available to us and the quality of the other teams in the league.

    Thanks for clarifying that SJH.
Over performing would suggest we don’t deserve to or have no right to be doing as well as we are.

I can see where you're coming from but outside of Kelman's finish (and Gillesphey's header that drew a great save) there was very little to get excited/enthusiastic about on the pitch today.

I know there's an argument that fans "should" keep the levels up no matter what, and try and inspire the players to raise their game, but it goes both ways. It was all a bit muddled and confused, I'd not blame anyone who didn't know what exactly we're actually meant to be cheering (today specifically.)

A well earned point against a good Swansea side. As per usual we never gave up from start to finish and as a fan with a realistic view of this division then you can’t ask for much more. Sometimes quality teams will get the better of you.

Another game gone and fingers crossed another one away from staying up this season.

    Onwards and upwards

We never really got going in this game and in the end I was glad we got a point. We just seemed off today. Maybe Sheehan knew Nathan Jones too well and he knew how to close us down. Who knows, but it was a strange game. We never really did get going. And, add to that, injuries to Bell, Burke and, maybe, Kaminsky. An off day all round really. But, this is the championship and every game will be difficult. Onwards and upwards. Another tough game on Tuesday.

It’s so nice being back in the Championship though. Real football teams playing in real stadiums, playing in front of real crowds. Bring it on!

Until next Saturday when we go and play at a tinpot stadium in Wrexham.

We did well to hold on for a point, pleased for Kelman.

thought that was a great point to earn against a side who would have had players who played midweek who looked a lot fresher and up for it than us .
Pretty much mirroring the fans , we had zero personality and noise today and the taffs sung loud and proud as you’d expect .
I liked the look of their keeper brave and pretty commanding of his area .
Massive result that they balloooned that one over in injury time somehow .
Thought the ref might pop in a late winner for us, he was so biased but then he somehow didn’t give Leaburn a couple of free kicks near the end .
(Dr)Mickey Bennett spoke well in the lounge before the game .
Hes now a trained up counsellor and he’s head of wellbeing at Chelsea.
said he’s got a WhatsApp group of all the lads from the 1988 fa youth cup final .
terry smith asked some good questions and MB was embarrassed to say he was a ball boy at the scum and that he’d had a spell on loan there .
he said Lennie called him in to his office and said how do you think you played on Saturday and he said I done well think I was man of the match Lennie agreed and said we’re skint we ‘re gonna sell you .
Bennett said as long as it wasn’t to Wimbledon or Millwall he didn’t mind … cos Wimbledon don’t play football and Millwall are our rivals … he went to Wimbledon.
he was a Man Utd fan and Bryan Robson was his favourite player.

I’m just worried about our midfield for Tuesday night, we looked a bit leggy today in that department.
At Hull and again today I thought our lack of pace in midfield was very evident
And guile and class on the ball. That is why Galbraith and their no 10 ran the midfield and could passit round us.
We can only get so far with our aggressive huff and puff and long ball. To improve in this division we will need to add this as well.

Don't want to go over the top after a half, but further away from his injuries Leaburn really feels like he could be so good if he goes on an insane fitness regime and bulks up fully. Not everything was coming off yet was still really impressed with him, someone who does that role well does feel exactly what we need.

Obviously not a particularly great performance, but with the 2 defensive injuries and constant moving around of the team throughout the game not particularly concerned, but a little worried about an upcoming bad run without those bodies at the back if we can't rely on our defence with how good they've been.

Interesting that 2 games in a row now, a team that has played 4 at the back all season has switched to a back 3 to play against us. We can definitely take that as a compliment that teams are changing their setups because of us

Maybe I am being harsh, feel rough as anything, been sick since Hull away, lost 7 pounds since Wednesday at home, and genuinely nearly fainted today, might be a personal thing why it felt off-ish.

Agree with what you say, there's always an argument that players play should raise the fans and it works together, I just feel we owe them some serious vocal backing even when we look second best, as we could have been against Port Vale today or whoever if it wasn't for their heroics for 6 months.

Wasn't the best weather either which plays a part. Hopefully it picks it up against West Brom and we can forget about this performance. Point will do.

Their guy that scored - his first goal in open play - cost £6m. If you want to think about how it’s gone so far this season, ponder on that…UTA!

Almost full? Even the club admitted to six and a half thousand empty seats, and obviously it was more than that. I think our gates have been very good compared to recent seasons and the crowd will respond to what they see.

Disappointing not to push on after Kelman’s goal but we are not going to be able to perform at a high tempo every game, either as players or fans. Certain there is more to come.

I doubt that Swansea have been playing as well as that this season or they'd have won more games than they've lost.

The Korean number 10, Eom, was outstanding and I was relieved when he was taken off midway through the second half. He was ably supported from deeper in midfield by Galbraith, who moved the ball well and combined consistently well with his colleagues. Swansea dominated midfield and our lack of control there meant we were chasing shadows throughout the second half. It's an area of our play that we'll hopefully manage to improve over time. Whilst our players are very fit, the concern is that the level of physical intensity our style demands may eventually take its toll, especially towards the end of the season.

To put matters in perspective, this is Swansea's 18th consecutive season in the top two tiers of English football; in contrast, we've spent 11 seasons in League 1 in the same period. Consolidate this season and hopefully we'll continue to strengthen and be stronger next.

Sorry to hear you're not 100 %, Braziliance. Lots of flu around here.

Regarding noise from our fans, I didn't notice it was particularly quieter than it's been at home thus far this season .

But, for those of us fortunate to have been at Portman Rd  recently, or to have watched the live stream, I'd say we hoped that this might be a similar match ie a game of 2 halves. A quiet 1st half, but a tremendous step up after half time....and with Charlie's very early goal, I certainly hoped we might do the same this afternoon.

However, we looked a very different team today, mainly due to the 2 injuries, and for one, I began to feel increasingly nervous after they equalised, and that we could well have a loss on our hands. I think a lot of others in the home stands had similar feelings, hence less noise.

Relief at winning another point was surely the feeling most of us came away with today, but the decisions that the gaffer makes on Tuesday will be much more difficult than they've been so far. And watching the 2nd half of the other Welsh side v Coventry last night, we have to hope that Lloyd will be fit enough to give Moore a headache. But first, let's put the Baggies back on their coach, pointless, and wave Karlan & Krystian a fond farewell.

The league is so tight , come the end of the season the team in 3rd bottom might still be able to get promoted and the team in 6th relegated !!
the sad thing is the scum will at least make the play offs
I said before and I still think the same , we can go 5 games undefeated but we can also go 5 games without a win.
21st will still be good and being 8th is over performing because this squad won’t finish top 8 and therefore at this point of the season we are more than punching above our weight .

Still can't get over the fact there isn't a single player in that red box blocking a pass from a CB into their striker
