We had some day trippers along our row for the Wednesday game and I reckon they saw less than half the game with their comings and going. I also suggest they get their prostates checked given their endless visits to the toiletChunes said:

I keep looking and Gillespie in the last replay may have hooked the ball away !!In other clips looks a foul and there’s no way he could be aiming the ball in that direction .
inconclusive , so correct decision2 -
Absolutely agree, kids for a £ kill the atmosphere. Turn up at kick off pricking about looking for seats. You have to tone down the language. Just kills the vibe for me.ValleyGary said:I agree about the shit atmosphere. Was one of them where you could just sense it in the air that we werent gonna be any good. Dunno if kids for a quid has any effect but the worst fan wise we've been all season. On to the game, thought we were just off a very good Swansea side. It took a mistake to let CK in and a good finish from a tight angle.
Think we can be undone with the ball played between the back 3. If we can go into the break with a win from the next couple of games I will be very pleased. The East stand Lino was a having a mare, gave a GK when it was a corner. He then gave a GK, when the ball hadn’t gone out of play.
Once again the 5ft 3 inch ref was as poor as you see on any Sunday with a Dad taking his turn.1 -
My comment was not that he should have been sent off, but given some of the.refs we've had, he could have been. He had to make the lunge because he wasn't goal side .TellyTubby said:
I had a perfect view from the West Stand, it was an excellent tackle. The ref was spot on, although a yellow for the dive could have been appropriate.jose said:Sorry for not having read the whole thread, maybe it’s been mentioned.
However at the game I thought that Gillesphey should probably have been sent off for a foul as last man in the first minute, seeing the replay it turns out he played the ball brilliantly.
I don't understand why people think Gillesphey should have received a red card?
The same fella dived a coupleeen of minutes later. Perhaps the ref had a quiet word because I don't recall any other obvious dives from him.e wasn't goalside.

Well - my wife hasn't got a prostate- but on her 2nd ever visit to a match she decided to go to the toilet just when the players were coming out for the 2nd half! Obviously missed the goal but was very happy that I was so happy when she returned 10 minutes later!mogodon said:

Not everything was coming off yet was still really impressed with him, someone who does that role well does feel exactly what we need.
Obviously not a particularly great performance, but with the 2 defensive injuries and constant moving around of the team throughout the game not particularly concerned, but a little worried about an upcoming bad run without those bodies at the back if we can't rely on our defence with how good they've been.I don't think more bulking up is what Leaburn needs, rather more cardio so he can make better use of the bulk that he has. He often looks a bit heavy legged, which is one of the reasons why he's less effective at pressing than the other forwards. If he can get a little bit more acceleration, then the added momentum will make him harder to shrug off the ball.0 -
Just another comment re Swansea kit, I sprayed a Talbot Horizon that blue.2

I can see where you're coming from but outside of Kelman's finish (and Gillesphey's header that drew a great save) there was very little to get excited/enthusiastic about on the pitch today.Braziliance said:Day to forget. Slow and leggy performance, thought Swansea showed us up a bit with their quality in the middle, fortunately our strength is restricting teams chances so they couldn't capitalise.
Thought our home support was poor. Valley almost full, playing against a good side and we are hovering around the play-offs, could barely string a chant together. Fans showing more enthusiasm at getting out of the stadium than backing the team inside.
Understand I'll get daggers for that, but I think the team deserve more support after the last year. We could still be slumming it in League 1, be nice to see us be vocal.
Ref was sh*te, nothing new there. Miles dragged down twice and he missed it both times.
Take the point, move on, put it right Vs West Brom where really, we need a result. A point closer to consolidating our Championship status 👍🏻
I know there's an argument that fans "should" keep the levels up no matter what, and try and inspire the players to raise their game, but it goes both ways. It was all a bit muddled and confused, I'd not blame anyone who didn't know what exactly we're actually meant to be cheering (today specifically.)
Agree with what you say, there's always an argument that players play should raise the fans and it works together, I just feel we owe them some serious vocal backing even when we look second best, as we could have been against Port Vale today or whoever if it wasn't for their heroics for 6 months.
Wasn't the best weather either which plays a part. Hopefully it picks it up against West Brom and we can forget about this performance. Point will do.
Regarding noise from our fans, I didn't notice it was particularly quieter than it's been at home thus far this season .
But, for those of us fortunate to have been at Portman Rd recently, or to have watched the live stream, I'd say we hoped that this might be a similar match ie a game of 2 halves. A quiet 1st half, but a tremendous step up after half time....and with Charlie's very early goal, I certainly hoped we might do the same this afternoon.
However, we looked a very different team today, mainly due to the 2 injuries, and for one, I began to feel increasingly nervous after they equalised, and that we could well have a loss on our hands. I think a lot of others in the home stands had similar feelings, hence less noise.
Relief at winning another point was surely the feeling most of us came away with today, but the decisions that the gaffer makes on Tuesday will be much more difficult than they've been so far. And watching the 2nd half of the other Welsh side v Coventry last night, we have to hope that Lloyd will be fit enough to give Moore a headache. But first, let's put the Baggies back on their coach, pointless, and wave Karlan & Krystian a fond farewell.0 -
Swansea were the better team yesterday, no question and second half was a bit like the Ipswich first half where I could see a bit of a quality / level gap - not complaining, we’ve been playing at full throttle and have done well to be where we are. Glad Kelman scored but was saying first half that the perseverance with him may have to take a break because he wasn’t contributing enough - games like yesterday and maybe there’s a case for getting Anderson back on the bench - his legs in the middle might have helped wrestle the ball back off them - we weren’t winning the second balls after the first 10 of the second half and our game is built on that3

To me it looked almost full, especially compared to recent seasons. It's still 17 thousand home fans in a stadium either way.Airman Brown said:
Almost full? Even the club admitted to six and a half thousand empty seats, and obviously it was more than that. Disappointing not to push on after Kelman’s goal but we are not going to be able to perform at a high tempo every game, either as players or fans. Certain there is more to come.
I can see the logic in waiting for players to play to get motivated as fans, but by that logic, we will be quiet a few times this season.
There are a few standout performances this season that would get a crowd going, Ipswich second half, Blackburn for 70ish minutes, Leicester at home. But mostly when we aren't winning, it's hardly bums off seats type footie. I even said last season it's fine when we win, but when we don't win it can be a long afternoon/evening as Nathan Jones sides don't have much razzmatazz, it's just effective football based on getting results.
We might have seen more energy from the players if we gave it a bit more, can't always rely on a CBT or Ricky Holmes type to get the crowd going.
Again, I understand that won't be a popular view, but if I was a player yesterday and looked around at the lack of enthusiasm when we were in a play-off place, that would translate to me. Energy is everything in sports.2 -

Having seen the highlights I was coming on here to say the exact opposite about Miles. He very nearly scored an OG with a header & on 91 mins sticks a leg out & diverts the ball straight to their player who fires it over. If he had left the ball it would have gone out for a goal kick......he wasn't to know that by fgs get out of the bloody way !!!!stoneroses19 said:

(I know he is back defending a corner because of his height......funny that because most of the time he can't judge the flight of the ball & mis-times most of his headers.)
And was probably brought on by NJ because 2 defenders had gone off & NJ thought we needed height defending set pieces.0 -

It’s been 18 months of Nathan Jones and people are still shocked with this. The requirements for a Charlton midfielder is pace, stamina, strength and aggression. creativity doesn’t exist in this teamDoomer Jon said:We really lack creativity in central midfield. It was clear against Hull and clearer yesterday. The three central midfielders we are starting are almost the same type of player.
And if I was an Aston Villa fan I wouldn't go at all. Sala's goal yesterday was an affront to football.2 -
I love the fact that he goes over to hug Tanto, who also looks thrilled for him. Given they're competing for the same position it's good to see.SouthoftheThames said:Look at Doc’s reaction after our goal.. buzzing for Kelman! Great to see5 -

Yes, I agree with the principal of ’live and let live’ but, as golfie has argued before, the number of people getting up and down around half time blocks the view of those watching the match, so they themselves aren’t acting by that principal. It hasn’t ever really bugged me too much but I’m sticking up for golfie here because he goes more often than me.Chunes said:

Sorry but if you watch it again Gilly definitely clipped the player and got nowhere near the ball. He was the last man and a red wouldn’t have been undeserved. I can see how the ref missed it though as in real time it wasn’t that obvious and I too thought the player took a tumble. So we got away with one there.TellyTubby said:

I am a lot more worried about that injury to Jones than the potentially more serious ones to Burke and Bell. At a pinch we can manage without them for a bit, but for Jones to be even 10% below par (as he was towards the end of the match could be devastating. We rely on him so much.PragueAddick said:When Bell and Burke went down within minutes of each other - and Terry Smith was saying that off- camera Lloyd Jones was down too, the nightmare was back in force in my head.1 -
Need to watch the direction of the ball. If Gilly had got a touch the ball would have changed direction, it didn’t.lordromford said:

It's strange because I thought Swansea were arguably the best team we've played this season and yet they are 16th.CAFCOlly said:Best team we’ve played so far this season. But looked particularly heavy legged today.1 -
Swansea are the best team we've faced imho. They got at us from the 1st minute and rattled us (Charlton style!). They were very quick all over the pitch and the #10 looked class, the big lad up front was a handfull too. Shout out to their fans who made a lot of noise and a decent turnout, even if a lot of them probably live in London! Thought Burke had a stinker tbh starting with that bizarre mix up with Jones in the first min. Bell will be a big loss and those two enforced changes did make a difference. I kind of got NJs reasoning with sticking TC at wingback and getting Miles on and he caused them problems. Pleased for Kelman who deserved that goal for his hard work. Disappointed we couldn't go on and get a 2nd. But Swansea took control and deserved to get back into it. Said to my bro early in the game that we cant give them so much room on the edge of the box as someone will eventually bang one in! Happy with a point. Bizarre performance from the ref "missing" the foul on Leaburn then he completely lost control in added on time. Tackles flying in all over the place! Think he was kind of relieved to blow the whistle and get off the pitch lol4

There is no team going going to run away with it and we are up in the mix. I still think we will end up lower mid table and would absolutely take that. We just need to keep moving away from the bottom whilst keeping an optimistic eye above us.
We are seriously over performing, hence the disappointment of a result and performance like today.
But we didn’t lose and it’s another point.Going to be a test going forwards with Edwards, Bell and Burke out but Jones will deal with it.
To me that is seriously over performing.
You perform how well or how bad you are doing at any given time, it’s neither over or under, can’t for the life of me fathom how people can suggest otherwise……..your form is simply what it is, good or bad.3 -
There was a great moment for a camera in the second half yesterday when the rather diminutive referee was chest to chest with Leaburn giving him a telling off.
