If you want to make sure the CAST board and the fan advisers see it, you need to contact them directly. The mods don't even have time to read every thread on here, so expecting that your posts will have any wider effect with any other groups is a bit unrealistic.TootingRedArmy said:Charlton fans are stuck between the devil and deep blue or is it red sea.....damn if you do damn if you don't .....Emailing the club, no reply....Filling in match day experience, results go into the club's bermuda triangle... the hope is that CAST members + fan advisers read CL, the fans who post share their experiences so its best forum to get an informed opinon and then hopefully CAST & fan advisers can use their position to challenge & work with the club to improve Addicks fan experience from match day, safety, policing, tickets etc.......otherwise your right its just howling at the moon !6 -
Anyone know how West Mids police handled the Spanners last night?1

So the first takeaway from that is that there were police inside the ground, plenty of them, and hands on.2

Telling that even when the 'wall significantly outnumbered plod they didn't attempt to help the 'bushwacker'.clive said:

Maybe the individual ain't well liked, was well deserving of plod's attention, or that rabble at St Andrews last night is a bunch of pussies?
Based on that footage nobody got thumped, deserving or otherwise.0 -
Given the behaviour of (a minority of) Southampton 'fans' the last couple of times they visited SE7, are we likely to have the piss poor Millwall arrangements imposed on us on 22nd?0

If you read CAST minutes from the recent meeting - it’s clear CAST are across what happened @ Millwall, this was best source so I’m pretty sure that CL is read by some CAST & Club employees. An email is read by one Individual or spammed - 2 emails to the club went unanswered. Posts are read by hundreds of Addicks without VOTV it’s now the best voice for fans to share views and opinions.aliwibble said:

CAST as a voluntary organisation clearly do a very good job it’s in their hands to challenge the club & Met police an individual is simply ignored0 -

And there we have it, it's easy Charlton, get the police in the ground.

Yes pay the police to "police" Millwall fans in the JS stand, reduce Millwall's allocation to 2000 (EFL rules) put then in centre block keeping sides free along side ES + WS. Have police in vans in streets to come in if required or out in streets (after all there are 300 of them!)
Yes the the Club will take a small ££££ hit but so what ! Look after 20K Charlton fans first and foremost & keep Millwall back for 30-45mins till all streets and Charlton station are clear.
If police can "police" a 100,000 Tommy Robinson led march in central London, then surely they can police 2000 Millwall? If not what are the police for if they can't control a crowd?
Millwall football club can do more with selling of their away allocation stating that any fans ejected from the Valley or arrest given a life ban etc.

You can see there that I struck lucky, Len's colleague's family were at the match. But as the Ginger Genius says, "you don't shoot, you don't score"Dear Richard,I hope you are well. I am responding on behalf of AM Len Duvall.Thank you for sharing this information. Len was already aware of the match and the tactics employed, as some members of my family attended and described a similar experience to what you’ve outlined.Len is happy to raise this matter with the Metropolitan Police. Before doing so, may we have your permission to share your comments with them? We can withhold your name if you prefer to remain anonymous. Please note that this may lead to a prolonged exchange, but Len is committed to pursuing it. The approach taken by the police in this instance does seem unusual.Once we have your confirmation, Len will proceed with contacting the police.I hope you have a nice evening,Warm Regards,Jamie Bailey (she/her)RSOLabour GroupLondon Assembly

I've responded with a recommendation for Jamie to link up with CAST, since they have a lot more info gathered, and then Len will be representing 2,500 plus London citizens rather than one person stroppy enough to complain.
I had a video call with the two Heathers from CAST before the match Tuesday to brief them on this, so they are awaiting contact with Jamie/Len.
Then I contacted my friends- nowadays they are all friends - from ST's of other capital clubs who were activists in the Olympic Stadium Coalition, and asked them for their perspectives on the general problem. Kat Law from Spurs said that diversions of home crowds in FAPL games are actually not uncommon albeit planned and communicated well in advance. She mentioned though that at Spurs this affects only the North Stand, whereas at the Valley, plod's approach affected nearly everybody as relatively few people leave the East via Lansdowne Mews.
However Dan Crawford (Fulham, and a serving Ealing Labour councillor) was much more critical of plod. Not least because he happened to attend the Charlton -Millwall game and saw it for himself. What's more, he suffers from a relatively mild version of a serious disabling condition, which sometimes bring him into conflict with plod and officials who might choose not to believe his condition is real. He's going to help me put together a more complete picture of Met Police practice. He did say that in both versions of the "SW6 derby" the away fans are kept back for usually 10 minutes, and he's aware that at Millwall, it's routine for away fans to be kept back.
So let's see how Len Duvall takes this up. Thanks @aliwibble for suggesting him- I had completely overlooked him as an elected representative.24 -

Excellent stuff - well done, Richard2

Glad that was helpful @PragueAddick, and well done. Might be worth asking the Fulham guy if he has any local contacts with QPR, as they also got diverted this season, although the local geography is a bit less restrictive compared to at the Valley.1

We had a QPR rep. in the Coalition, but he has been quiet for a while, I'm trying to find out about the status there, and at Palace.aliwibble said:Glad that was helpful @PragueAddick, and well done. Very impressed Prague.... for persusing this. As you say CAST just need to gather all feedback and ideally go through some of this thread for accounts, photos, social media, video links etc. (1754 comments,109+K views) Fans have been constructive and shared legimate concerns about safety, questioned MET Polices approach & clubs poor communication. There have been positive & sensible ideas to resolve this situation.
Lets hope that this door being opening leads to a meaningful meeting with MET Police and club.

They've done that. As this thread was developing. They are ordinary fans like the rest of us. At least three Board members are regular CL contributors.TootingRedArmy said:Very impressed Prague.... for persusing this. Since you’re back and on this thread, I think I’m not the only one to be curious how you reconcile your pre- match remarks with what happened on the day.MillwallFan said:

Mentioned it on another thread. Condemned those who went through the gate and admitted that I was wrong, as I thought it just wasnt that sort of fixture to be totally honest.PragueAddick said:

I heard it was West Ham who went through the gate and your lot just got the blame in the media, again.MillwallFan said:

Police won’t admit this publicly, but let’s just say there are different views among the senior ranks.1

That's what happens when they're not all freemasons anymore - or at least not as many as there used to be!Airman Brown said:Police won’t admit this publicly, but let’s just say there are different views among the senior ranks.7 -
Just a civil question - is there a singing ban at the den these days ? i watched the first half of your game yesterday and didn't here one song. A few early attempts at the merrr thing which isn't a song and doesn't require any singing or effort at least - just a dull mentally challenged drone, but once that failed, nothing. Just curious - are the fans not happy / behind the team or is it always like that when playing a team also in the play off spots? You were the quietest set of fans to visit the valley as well and don't think i heard a song then either - i know drums and adults wearing kit tops isn't allowed or any new song invented after 1985 but is singing a complete no no at millwall now?MillwallFan said:

Ah yes, collective denial the Millwall way of life. For decades they’ve treated hooliganism like Bigfoot: “lots of sightings, no proof, mate.” Admitting guilt would shatter the sacred illusion of “proper passion,” so instead we get deflection, denial, and a dash of “media witch-hunt.” It’s practically an art form from these sad Bushwackers from New Cross.
Funny how @Millwallfan now pops up weeks after their lot attacked Charlton fans onto this thread, where he been? struggling to defend the indefensable. When some of these sad cases involved some even in their fifties & even sixties closer to collecting their pension storm Gate 21 like it’s 1983, you really have to ask what is wrong with them? @Millwallfan coming back on this thread now, where were you MIA...??
Millwall Innocent Absent… as always !

To be fair to @MillwallFan, they were on the main Millwall thread soon after admitting they were wrong and condemning what happened at The Valley. Not sure what you're trying to achieve by fanning the flames with your post.TootingRedArmy said:Ah yes, collective denial the Millwall way of life. Seem to be going around in circles with this now.
I guess the Met are happy to let the dust settle and then do the same thing next season.
I'd love to be able to announce prior to the next Millwall home game that 10,000 Charlton fans will be taking part in a peaceful march along the length of Floyd Road to the station immediately after the final whistle is blown and pre-empt any police announcement. That's the ultimatum, deal with it!
Obviously they will say we can't, but it works in my fantasy world
