MATCH THREAD : Wrexham V Charlton Athletic : Saturday 8th November 2025 : KO 15:00
A big hello to one and all, and welcome to today's Match Thread…
So today we are back on the road and making our way to deepest darkest Wales for a very interesting encounter with another promoted side from last season, Wrexham.
We all know they had an ok season last year, but now things don't seem so rosy for them, as they are currently sitting eight places and five points adrift of us with 18 points, getting a 0-0 at Portsmouth last Wednesday.
Amari'i Bell, Reece Burke and Charlie Kelman all missed out in midweek through injury, while the gaffer confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Matty Godden is 'weeks away rather than months'., so still a way off it seems, also Josh Edwards remains sidelined, so nothing really disclosed there, the hosts will be without Danny Ward, Andy Cannon, Elliot Lee and Jay Rodriguez.
Head to Head…We've met on 17 previous occasions, winning three, Wrexham eight, and the remaining six encounters resulting in draws, our last meeting came at the STōK Cae Ras in April, when the hosts ran out 3-0 victors, but we are a much better team all round this time out, and have every chance of leaving Wales with at least one point, no reason why we can't achieve all three…
We will be sporting the Reebok third kit for the first time this season…
Team news…
Academy graduate Ibrahim Fullah will make his first league start today at Wrexham…
Nathan Jones has made three changes to the team that beat West Bromwich Albion at The Valley on Tuesday with Harvey Knibbs and Tanto Olaofe also starting, while Onel Hernández, Greg Docherty and Miles Leaburn move to the bench.
Kayne Ramsay, Lloyd Jones, wearing the captain’s armband, and Macaulay Gillesphey will start in a back three in front of Thomas Kaminski.
James Bree is expected to operate as a right wing-back with either Fullah or Tyreece Campbell operating as a left wing-back. Knibbs joins Conor Coventry and the in-form Sonny Carey in midfield behind Olaofe and either Fullah or Campbell.
The Addicks finished Tuesday’s win in what looked like a 3-4-2-1 formation, with Knibbs and Fullah playing behind Olaofe, which is also a possibility today given the flexibility of the line-up.
Hernández, Docherty and Leaburn are joined on the bench by Will Mannion, Keenan Gough, Karoy Anderson, Joe Rankin-Costello, Luke Berry and Rob Apter.
Charlton: Kaminski; Ramsay, Jones (c), Gillesphey; Bree, Coventry, Carey, Knibbs, Fullah; Olaofe, Campbell
Subs: Mannion, Gough, Docherty, Anderson, Rankin-Costello, Berry, Hernández, Apter, Leaburn

The squad have arrived... Once again am doubtful about our chances, given the lack of players who got off the Coach

Feeling nervous about this one given our injuries and the fact they turned us over last time we played because of…injuries. I’d take a point and run.2

Is that lloyd wearing a mask is he ill?ForeverAddickted said:The squad have arrived... Once again am doubtful about our chances, given the lack of players who got off the Coach

Lulling Wrexham into a false sense of security...😉aso914 said:

Ooof Fullah starting. Unexpected. Good for him!3
-
Fullah starts... thats an exciting attacking line up with the pace we've got
Very attacking with Knibbs replacing Docherty again3 -
Exciting team, the type that either works really well or is unbalanced. Hopefully the former.4

For all the talk about the Windass / Moore combination, the former can only settle for a place on the bench2

Really pleased for Fullah, looking forward to seeing him from the off today...1

No idea how well we will do today based on that team. At least Wrexham would not have predicted it and will be unprepared.5
-
Jones really doesnt rate JRC does he10
-
Delighted Windass only makes the bench. Feel a bit more confident now.3
-
Jesus, that is a ridiculously attacking team1
-
Notice though that Jones has now taken the option to rest Coventry, and now Docherty in our most recent away games
Imagine thats why Docherty doesn't start today, rather than because of the penalty miss.8 -
Do we think it’s Fullah or Campbell at LWB?0
-
Pace all over that team. Love it.
Will be interesting to see who takes Docs role. Carey does look comfortable playing slightly deeper and has the engine to do so.1 -
Gough the only defender on the bench? lets hope we dont get another defensive injury1

Well we're being brave with the line up. Fair play. Also pretty happy about their team selection. Famous last words though and all that.0

https://www.charltonafc.com/news/team-news-fullah-set-first-league-startOS unusually saying we could line up in a few different ways - TC or Fullah at LWB, with the other alongside Olaofe, or the 3-4-2-1 we finished with on Tuesday which had Fullah and Knibbs behind Olaofe (which could also be TC or Carey).2
-
Jones going ultra attacking away? I’m shocked but that’s an exciting team. Not shocked to see Doc dropped after the penalty save Jones was pretty upset over it and Knibbs was good when he came on.1

Changed my mind, 0-5 to tha Reggae Boys 😉CAFCsayer said:Jesus, that is a ridiculously attacking team2 -
Right... Time for the F1 Sprint Race @ Brazil... Hope there are going to be no Red Flags0
-
Can’t work that team out. Unsure about it tbh.0

We were, rather aggressively, accused of not having a ticket by a security guard once inside the ground, who then did the exact same thing to the people behind us.
I have no idea why he was behaving this way although, considering there is a guy in our end wearing a Wrexham shirt, there may be some confusion?2 -

So, I guess it's a quantum physics thing. If you're following on the Charlton app, you can detect Bell, but if you're following on the BBC Sport app, Campbell is playing.5
