The draw for the 2025-26 London Senior Cup was made yesterday, and there have been 38 entries this year (four more than in 2024). New clubs competing this season include Cray Valley PM, Hayes & Yeading and Ashford Town. Charlton Under 21s have received a bye in the first round, and will play away to Hanwell Town in Round 2.

Hanwell's ground is well worth the visit, and to support the youngsters.

As a draw, Hanwell Town against Charlton throws up a weird situation.  Charlton are the holders of the Cup, but by the time the fixture is played, Hanwell might be the holders.

Charlton won it in 2023-24.  But the final of the 2024-25 tournament doesn't take place until later this month, when Hanwell face the Brentford B team.
  • The 2024-25 final was played yesterday evening and Hanwell beat Brentford B 3-0. The margin could have been greater and Hanwell looked a very good side. Our Under 21s will need to be at their best against them.
  • No news yet on a date for this competition (unlike the Kent Senior Cup which has a separate thread) but the opposition in the event of beating Hanwell has narrowed down - the winner will be away at either Erith Town or Sporting Bengal United.
  • The London Senior Cup campaign for 2025–26 kicks off with an away trip to the holders, Hanwell Town which has now been scheduled for Tuesday 11th November.

Nearest tube is Perivale, but Google suggests it's quicker to get the Liz Line to Ealing Broadway and then a bus.

No mention on the OS as far as I can see, but a link on Hanwell Town's site to their ticket vendor says that tickets for Tuesday night are £5 adult, £3 over-65 or student. £1 under-18.
  • The game is going ahead on Tuesday. I will be there. How about you?

I'm hoping to be there. I need to shift a work meeting so I can slope off early, so I've been checking for confirmation it was definitely on.

A fantastic ground to go to for any groundhoppers among you.  Into the bargain you can support the youngsters.

Interesting little ground this, some nice little quirks I like about these non league grounds for instance walking around I have seen a broken down bus converted into a Italian food/drink stall and priority seating area with 4 padded seats

🔢 Here's how our U21s line-up for this evening's cup clash against Hanwell Town:

Hardy; Brown, Hunter, Laqeretabua, Enslin; Safa, R.Reid, Amissah; Lock, Casey, Tagoe

Subs: Woodham, Washington-Amoah, Richman, McMillan, Elliott

  • Classic non league ground, every section of seats designed different, mostly different colours.  The two bits of covered standing look like they were built by volunteers. Fantastic.
  • I know one of the owners of Hanwell Town. Big guy, Dave Iddiols. Say hi from Phil H if you see him. He’s a Southampton fan, too, so plenty to discuss.

In some instances clubs need further seating to meet FA requirements as they climb divisions.
Tonbridge have a completely pointless stand that holds about 30, which I guess, was to facilitate this requirement at some point.
Welling, on the other hand, are now in a position that they can get rid of most of theirs.

  • 1-0 down. Home player got played in 1 on 1 and finished very calmly inside the post.

5’ - Great start! Harry Rice pounces on a poor backpass and calmly finds the bottom corner!

Brave save from Hardy to prevent a 2 goal deficit after 19 minutes
  • Home forwards getting far too much space. Ours getting some opportunities but being shut out by the defence.

30’ - Big chance for Charlton down the other end, but Reuben Reid fires wide.

     1-0

32’ - Ryan Cole mishits his volley, but it falls nicely for Alfie Pendlebury to guide it home from inside the box!

Referee was awful in the first half

Could easily get a job in The Championship
  • Towards the end of the half Reid got free and got space for a decent shot, just wide. Hanwell manager was doing his nut at the defender afterwards.

I have been stood next to the Charlton technical area all game(gonna regret that when I get a cold from getting soaked) Solly always seemed so calm when playing, less so now 🤣🤣
