We only had 7 experienced defenders even after adding Bree. Now 3 are injured the burden on the other 4 is too much , and also leading to others playing at wingback who are not right for the role.
We need another experienced CB asap.1 -
And Burke is someone with a poor injury record. The sort of player you may get 25 excellent games out of, but unlikely to be a player who can go through the whole season full fit.cantersaddick said:
I'm not sure it was unlucky. You make your own luck. Edwards injury was maybe unlucky but then when you have to do an intense run of games including saturday-tuesday fixtures multiple times with no options for rotation or rest you push players into "the red zone" too much and for too long. It's asking for another injury. These things always compound because you end up over using what you have leftsam3110 said:Edwards, Bell

The defence has always been lopsided to the right, because more players are right footed.
We're unlucky in the sense that 2 of our 3 defensive injuries are players that occupy the left side
For Luton he never played more than 27 league games a season.1 -
Wouldn’t mind Harry Amass from Wednesday. On loans from Man U until Jan could replace Bree if he is to go back?0

He's a left back so wouldn't be much use replacing BreeAberystwythAddick said:Wouldn’t mind Harry Amass from Wednesday. On loans from Man U until Jan could replace Bree if he is to go back?4 -
Bree will be returning if the kid from Japan is signed …. Bree been of the pace last 3/4 gamesAberystwythAddick said:Wouldn’t mind Harry Amass from Wednesday. On loans from Man U until Jan could replace Bree if he is to go back?5 -

Nah not at all. If we continue his trajectory over the last 2 games he'll end up a non-league player in a month or so. Definitely get rid. 🙃eastterrace6168 said:

Big pinch of salt , not sure we'd be looking at a 17yr old striker on loan even if his dad did play for us.6

Wouldn't be surprised if we did look to sign a striker on loan, as we were pretty close to signing Fofana from Chelsea on deadline day. I guess that will depend on when Godden and Kelman are back though, as if they're both fit we probably don't need another striker.
If Fukuda is signing, i don't necessarily think that rules out us signing Bree. Bree loves Jones and i'm sure would be keen to sign. Plus we need to consider that Fukuda would not only be new to the club, but also the league and the country so he'd likely need time to settle in.2 -

Last thing we need is a 17 year old Premier League "star in the making"....and we have our own youngsters with litle league experience if we wanted to go down that route.MarcusH26 said:Big pinch of salt , not sure we'd be looking at a 17yr old striker on loan even if his dad did play for us.6 -

A new striker realistically won’t change the outcome of our season. We’re not quite there for playoffs and don’t look likely to get relegated.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Wouldn't be surprised if we did look to sign a striker on loan, as we were pretty close to signing Fofana from Chelsea on deadline day. Gives Leaburn and Kelman more time to try and adapt to this level as well1 -
If we're in and around the play offs. I can guarantee you that the owners will be willing to spend and strengthen the squad.Crispywood said:

I will take that guarantee. In what form will that guarantee take if and when i am left unhappy with the window? Also why are you (presumably) so confident you'll not need to pay me out?cafc-4-life said:

Didn’t we have some Chelsea guy in L1 that ended up playing for England. 😀golfaddick said:

I think with Godden slowly making his way back, plus Leaburn, Tanto and Campbell that can fill the front two spots, we’re okay for forwards even with Kelman’s injury. I also expect Tanto to be able to contribute more the longer he’s here. I know he’s not had a proper run, and he didn’t do much against Wrexham, but he is one of a number of new players who have only participated in a total of 14 league games. As time goes by, he and the likes of Knibbs will hopefully settle into the club and recognise that they’ve been on the fringes so far, and really wrap their hands around any opportunities they get.I would argue a left sided wing back makes sense given we don’t know how long Edwards will be out for and we’ve been caught out with his and Bell’s injuries. They were both playing very well before they got injured.I still think we need an absolute tank in the midfield to help us soak up/break up the play given we allow teams a lot of the ball. It’s worked so far, but watching the second half at Wrexham (albeit we had illness running through the team), you could see them tiring. I know Coventry has the role of sitting the deepest of the three currently, and I’m not suggesting he’s not up for it, but we need a player with the energy of someone like Anderson, but with a solid amount of skill to be able to move the ball on quickly and start attacks7

Yeah, we're missing some physicality in midfield, whether that's in Coventry's role or Docherty's. We're also missing that player who can put their foot on the ball and play us into games. It's still the weakest area of the team, for me.cabbles said:I think with Godden slowly making his way back, plus Leaburn, Tanto and Campbell that can fill the front two spots, we’re okay for forwards even with Kelman’s injury. Given the silence about injury recovery from the club it is hard to know. But we are currently very vulnerable in defence. One more injury, to Jones or Gillesphey, or a three game suspension, and we will be sunk at the back.cabbles said:I think with Godden slowly making his way back, plus Leaburn, Tanto and Campbell that can fill the front two spots, we’re okay for forwards even with Kelman’s injury. Sam Morsy would be a very NJ type signing to play that part in midfield. Would be reassuring backup too. Conor Coventry is so important to the way we operate, he would be as bigger loss than anybody else in our team if he was to get injured/suspended.cabbles said:I think with Godden slowly making his way back, plus Leaburn, Tanto and Campbell that can fill the front two spots, we’re okay for forwards even with Kelman’s injury. I actually thought he was possibly our best player in the first half at Wrexham. Problem is he can’t do 90 minutes and looked absolutely knackered in the second half. Think this is the reason he hasn’t started muchcabbles said:I think with Godden slowly making his way back, plus Leaburn, Tanto and Campbell that can fill the front two spots, we’re okay for forwards even with Kelman’s injury.
