As of last month the rankings were:
Iraq 57
Congo 60
Jamaica 68
Bolivia 76
Suriname 126
New Caledonia 150
Iraq and Congo will probably climb up the rankings a bit given their play off wins, so they should be seeded and go directly into each final.
Jamaica can't face Suriname, so unless i'm mistaken they are likely to face either Bolivia or New Caledonia in the semi final. Doesn't take a genius to work out who they'd prefer to face.2 -

i went to Japan 2002 every game there was skirt wearing sweaties with the oppos top on and they were loving it when Brazil knocked us out .

Haiti qualify for the first time in 52 years.
A lot of people (myself included) have criticised the expansion of the world cup but i have to admit it's good to see a lot of these smaller nations qualifying and how much it means to their fans even if they are likely to not make it out of the group stages.3 -

Great finish to the game at Hampden last night - really enjoyed it. I hope the draw is kind to Norn Iron, Ireland and Wales, it would be great to see at least one more from the British isles there, though a north v south derby in the Emerald Isle would be kind of intriguing...
But leaving that aside for a mo. CONMEBOL? What the F*** is that all about?

FIFA has proper International Windows in a Footballing Calendar now, so we wont ever have to deal with losing players at random times throughout the season like when we had Karim Bagheri many years ago - The Play-Offs will be in March, and because we're now a Championship side, no games will be scheduled.letthegoodtimesroll said:Are these play off games already scheduled to take place over an ‘international break’ ? Whilst no exact dates have been confirmed for the games yet, they'll happen from the 23rd - 31st March - Same dates as the Play-Offs for the UEFA Qualifiers that Wales / Ireland / Northern Ireland will be involved in, whilst I suspect that England will arrange a friendly with someone.
In the Charlton calendar we play the 21st March at home to Norwich, and then we don't play until the 3rd April against Bristol City.1 -

To be fair I don't see the big deal with them losing out to Curacao, they're a small nation, but when you look at their squad, they pull a lot of players from the Eredivisie (thanks to a lot having Dutch heritage as well), and the Championship... So they seem well matched against Jamaica.4 -

If the boot was on the other foot, do you think the Scots would be cheering on our qualification. Would they f***.
Only good thing to come out of this will be the chance to see them make fools of themselves again in the finals.1 -
I used to like Ireland as a youngster, first world cup I can properly remember was '94 when we weren't there and it was all about them, then we had Kinsella, Deano, Holland..
didn't really realise / understand how much they hated us when I was younger though, hard to support them with that, although their goal was great to watch the other day and if Coventry is out there playing for them (and hasn't fucked off to Palace or something by then) then i'd cheer him and therefore them on
generally loathe scotland and don't like wales either (again the latter excepting the period when we had Robbo for them!)
half wanted jocks to win yesterday cos I'm intending to go out and got a scottish mate we all want to come on the trip... but then found myself wanting them to mess it up after they went 2-1 up and enjoyed the equaliser... will look forward to them humuliating themselves at the world cup, hopefully an embarrasing loss to curacao and a record trouncing by somebody2 -

England not only qualifying without conceding a goal and with 2 games still to play, they are the only UEFA country to qualify this early. Due to Portugal conceding a stoppage-time equaliser that prevented them also qualifying 2 games early. No laughing at the back, now...
28: Senegal
A bad night for those of us who were hoping for some more debutants. Gabon did qualify for the African playoffs, along with Dem. Congo, Nigeria and Cameroon. Only one country gets to go to the final playoffs, so that's a long shot.
The remaining 10 direct qualifiers from Europe and 3 from North America will be confirmed during the rest of this international break, leaving only the 6 playoff slots to be sorted out. The playoffs will be 16 European countries competing for 4 places and 6 from the rest of the world chasing 2 slots. The current round of matches will also finalise who qualifies for those playoffs. Scotland and Wales are both guaranteed to be in the playoffs if they don't manage to win their groups (which Scotland might, but Wales would need a miracle). Northern Ireland also have a very good chance of a playoff slot. So it's been a pretty good qualification process for the 4 UK teams.
The African playoffs to determine who goes to the intercontinental playoffs (and will be a huge favourite to qualify) was narrowed down to Nigeria v DR Congo. Another of the possible first-time qualifiers, Gabon, were knocked out last night. Serious chance of Ademola Lookman getting to the World Cup despite Nigeria having under-performed so far.

DR Congo will need to wait to see if they are seeded in the intercontinental playoff.

5 more UEFA qualifiers tomorrow, 3 North Americans Wednesday morning and then the two sets of playoffs next year which sort out the final 6 places. The draw for the playoffs is at noon on Thursday, the rankings I think come out some time on Wednesday, after the last of the CONCACAF qualifiers.

39 Scotland

41 Haiti
42 Curacao
The 42 direct qualifiers include 4 who have never qualified before (Uzbekistan, Jordan, Cape Verde, Curacao) plus arguably Qatar who didn't actually have to qualify for their only previous appearance. There's also Haiti and Panama both qualifying for only the second time ever.
The draw should be fun - there are some fairly strong teams lurking among the UEFA playoffs, so real potential for one or two good old-fashioned groups of death.0 -
I’m English and proudly British. I always like to see the other Home Nations do well unless they are playing against us. TBF, they do seem to be mostly shit at team sports these days for some inexplicable reason, more so when they play us, and when they gather together in just their own separate nationalities despite having some pretty decent players to select from. A bit like we perennially were if we’re honest but now seem to have got our act together in a number of team sports. No wonder they ‘hate’ us 🤣
