Zens in a Thursday was always a fun nite and would always bump into an addick or too in there. Pretty sure the boss liked a bit of zens Thursday nites!

    Oh the memories.
In order of preference (accepting these were more like discos than the megaclubs that followed):

    Bon Bonnies
    Le Trecs , Beckenham
    Cinderellas, Purley
    Ts, erith
    Zens
    Studio (streatham)
    Flamingos
Any pub with a dance floor goes to near the top-
    E.g. Drayman

Then rave culture came along and I couldn't wear a tie anymore so that was that.

Mind you have since been Koko, Egg, a place at Vauxhall under the arches, and one at Elephant, for back to 88 type things, and most gone now I think.

I'd like to try one of these day time sessions when my feet are better and provided there is somewhere to sit down and none of that awful trance or Eurobeat shite being played.

There’s some places I remember from that list. Cinderellas was a bit of a posh night out as they did food I vaguely remember. Wasn’t Flamingos the old cinema in Woolwich? Dancing where you used to queue up for ice cream. I remember seeing a male strip show there. Very disappointing from what I remember.
Bit of a flop was it.

Another shout for The Venue, early 90’s onwards it was an amazing place. Lost count of how many nights I spent in there.

Also remember, Stars in Greenwich, T’s in Erith and Zens

    Great times to go out
T's was good met the bloke from Imagination there one night. Went to Flicks/Zens quite a few times back in the day as well.

Snooker Hall in Greenwich was good whilst it lasted.
    Now up the creek
  • Surprised none of the ravers on here have mentioned Bagleys or maybe I’m too old

It was either that or Strawberry Sundae Vauxhall for me in the late 90’s

Tots or Chameleon for Southend 95-99 but not quite the same vibe 😂

    Bagleys was before my time.

I went to The End once. I was around for Turnmills but they mostly had trance nights. So Ministry of Sound and Fabric were the main ones, with later visits to Cable by London Bridge, Matter in the O2, Printworks, Fire in Vauxhall, E1, Studio 338, and once at The Egg - which was straight after Huddersfield away in 2012. There are some names I can't remember too, I saw Magda somewhere on NYE, it was really cheap to get in and no one realised it was New Year until about 00:20

I used to visit friends in Manchester for Sankeys and The Warehouse Project as well. They were always worth the long journeys home.
  • Went to Sankeys after an Oasis gig at Man City in 2005

Used up a life that day

Spent many a trance night in Turnmills. Tall Paul, Benny Bennasi, Ferry Corsten. Great times.

Wellcome Inn,  1971-74, or the Kitchener. 50p on the door.  Had my first proper grown up punch up with a doorman at the Kitchener.
Also honourable mention The Royal Standard Blackheath.

In my younger days, Zenz, The Venue, Amadeus, were the usual clubs I'd be seen in. Up town we done Fabric, The End. Seem to remember a place called Digress in soho. My all time fave for a bit of live music was Roadhouse in Covent Garden.

Me and my mates got threatened by the bouncers in Roadhouse, for playing keepy uppy with an imaginary ball on the dance floor.
  • The Venue early 90s. Pulp, Blùr, Billy Bragg, Carter USM many times, Echobelly, Sleeper. Oasis and Shed Seven on the same bill wasn't bad. However the mighty Half Man Half Biscuit gracing the stage was the best of the lot

Used to be in there all the time, know a few of the people involved back in the late 90s early 2000s. Watched Peter Docherty go face first into the piss trough on the first floor and subsequently fished him out of it. Also where this photo was taken

What sort of age group there? It’s our season for celebrating 50ths and a club night that don’t make us feel like we’re stalking our kids would be ideal

Went to a garage night at Ministry a couple kf years ago and that was more an older crowd.

Epping Forest Country club was another I was talking to someone about over the weekend that was a good night when I was younger.

Ha ha. There's no such place mate. Accept that you are at the point of real ale in a micropub ;-)

Mate it was noted by our group of 48 to very young looking 60s that crowd were roughly same sort of ages less young young crowd, but a lot of them kids were kids of the old skool ravers & were there for the music too,no trouble whatsoever it was a good vibe all day…so just get along,”your free to do want you want to do,you ve got live your life”

    cya on the dancefloor…👍

    80's memories of London clubs...

    Xenon - by The Ritz
Hombre's - somewhere off Oxford St
    Samantha's - off Regent Street
    Paramount City - off Piccadilly
Ferdenzis - opposite Samantha's and a haunt for night-club workers, coppers, brasses and "types"  That was one where you could walk out and it would be daylight.

This will be determined quite a bit by the genre of music the night is for, I'd just suggest not going to a Grime night.

If you want a decent older crowd having a dance, Soul Town events are good for that. Not my type of music but seems popular.
