    Hate The Venue with a passion, not only reminds me of Queen or ABBA shite, but the bouncers in there were absolute cnuts. Had a proper tear up in there with them and a few of us got thrown head first down the stairs by 6’5” South African bouncers but their boss was 4 foot Irish prick who kicked people when they were down. Awful place and glads it’s gone.

    Cats whiskers and Bromley court hotel were both my parents used to go to. 
    Plus the welcome inn Bexley, Lewisham Odeon, Dutch house and blackheath standard.

    I think the Springbok bouncer was called Ren, or Rennin worked the door on quite a few pubs and clubs. Was a tough guy until he ran into a fella who was the same size and copped a thumping.

    Really enjoyed reading this thread. Forgot some of these clubs even existed, let alone that I’d spent many a blurred night in lots of them. 

    Gass club, wow that brings back some memories. Legends was a great club. Loved that place. 

    Surprised I’m the only person who has mentioned Happy Jax. Great little club in one of the arches at London Bridge, 90’s. 

    Anyone remember Club Koo, Leicester Square? Great club.

    Sorry you young guns but if you never went to a disco at the Valley Club ( with a chicken in the basket thrown in ..literally) then you haven't lived. I win close the thread

    Thats the one. One of my favourites of the 90’s. One of those clubs where always knew loads of people in there. Blinder it was.

    The Hungry Years (or "the ears" as it was known as the 'Y' had fallen off way back in the mists of time) in Brighton was about the only place I used to go on a fairly regular basis.  A rock/metal club, Wednesdays was free entry alternative night, which was the regular spot for a skint student/dosser like me.  Occasionally on a Saturday if I was a bit flush.

    I'd get dragged to "regular" clubs by mates on occasion who didn't share my musical tastes.  Absolutely fucking hated going to those. 

    Also there was a place called "The Shelley Arms" in Nutley which was absolutely fantastic.  Just a smallish pub, but had live music of one sort or another every night.  Everything from punk to acid house and in-between.  Played a gig there once in the 90s as support to Ten Pole Tudor!

    Showing my age here ,but Tites in Beckenham,Marlow Rooms in Sidcup and the Falcon in Falconwood ,walked home to Orpington after one New Year's eve there

    Where exactly was Bonnie's on Southend Lane, Sydenham mentioned by a couple on here, and is the building still standing? I cannot picture it.

    Cant help with that, but didn't it have the longest bar in England at one stage ?

    think it was up Sydenham Hill 
    used to be quite lively early 90’s

    Was on Kirkdale, Sydenham end near the greyhound pub. Still going just before covid i think but changed its name a few times.

    Think the downham tavern had the longest bar in Britain at one stage.

    Don't get me wrong id been "clubbing" from about 85 to 88 but only Flicks and Stage 3 etc and only to get girls or just drunk.     Raid in 89 on a Friday at Limelight - My favourite club ever. Us early lot had grown up and ditched the kickers and baggy clothing and were dressed up and being adults. Oakie upstairs and Farley and Kevin Hurry downstairs.
    Any Boys Own do - Especially the infamous East Grinstead marquee by the lake.
    The Tunnel Club in Greenwich when it was still the Mitre. We were there every Friday and Saturday, the old jag outside, great music, great crowd. Loved it.
    Downham Tavern xmas eve 88 and 89 - unbelieveable scenes for an all dayer
    Bonnies on a Saturday in Southend Lane Catford. Tony Wilson on the 1s and 2s
    Ibiza in 89 - Amnesia and Ku without the roofs. Getting thrown out of Pascha. Angels gay club  - the best opened at 6 am and there was a slide on to the dance floor - coo ee.

    Then we decided England wasn't enough and I spent the next 4 years from 1990 in Goa for 6 months at a time. That would take me hours to explain. not a nightclub as such but my god!!!! 

    From then on it was Naked Lunch, Deja Vu, Kazoo, etc

    Last decade or more - Faith, Boys Own, ALFOS etc etc

    I don't go out any more - haven't for years. I'm 60 next year but I've still got mates that do - their favourite right now is a space in Kings Cross like the old days, smoke strobe and acid. And a do called try outs for the human race.

    Last time i went out i tried to dance and realised i couldnt be arsed      
     
    Excellent. Rather than Goa, mine was full moon parties in Koh Phangan around the same sort of early 90s spell.
    yeah went to Thailand a few times after Goa once it got too hot. Always stayed in Had Rin.

    Funny enough the year we had Man Utd in the 1/4 final i was in Phangan listening to it on the radio. Danny Rampling played the Vinyl Cafe and how good was the Backyard up the hill?  :)    
    Trying to remember when, but swear I watched us beat Coventry in the cup after going behind.
    Think we won 2-3
    Was travelling through Malaysia from Singapore, on a bus to Bangkok, then train to Surat Thani, boat to Samui, then another to Pha Ngan.
    Regarding Pha ngan, the combination of weed, mehong and mushrooms didn’t allow me to really remember a great deal. Getting back to my corrugated beach hut was quite a chore in itself.

    Remember going to the rasclat or something like tha?? Near Beckenham junction. Used to have a tapas meal there and after the kitchen stopped it then became a sort of a club. Main thing I remember as someone who's not the tallest I felt like a hobbit in there. Used to think everyone in Beckenham was some some how related to giants. I'm 5'8 btw.

    Yes that’s what I thought, the lazy toad. Had a little cocktail bar on the top floor if I remember correctly

    Ahh seen you been serious. Possibly the lazy toad. I have no idea. Had a small bar a the front and an area for those who wanted to eat to one side. After half 10 all these giants came in and they played house music (not my favourite but it can be good) and they had a largest outdoor area, about the same size as the inside, with a bar. They eventually put in a roof there. Bouncers were really nice, well at least to me they were.

    An area that hasn't been mentioned is Brixton. I didn't know many clubs there but went to the windmill and more cluby the Brixton jam. Have a few stories about the jam but none of them nice.

Three years later said young lady had her hen do there a week or so before she made me the happiest, and luckiest, man in the world (will be 39 years next April).

    So you can imagine, I have very, very fond memories of Twilights :)
