Thank you will add to my list.Croydon said:Carly, Jints, Greenhithe, and any other Gomorrah fans, watch the film Piranha on Amazon Prime. It's also based on a book by Roberto Saviano
Can I also recommend another Italian series - Mussolini: Son of the Century. On Sky Atlantic/Now TV and absolutely superb.1 -
Not a series, but a one off documentary. The Magical World of Moss. Absolutely fascinating.

I like Dept.Q on Netflix, but wife doesn't. She thinks it's too dark and depressing, but I like Morcks belligerent attitude. Language is a bit fruity though.3

I really enjoyed (i.e. could switch off my brain for a few minutes) Beast in Me on Netflix (I think)...Clare Danes doing, well, Clare Danes as a disturbed and distracted female author.. Not a wholly believable plot but good enough to pass the time...and something that my wife enjoyed too, so we weren't arguing about what to watch....2

Pretty much given up on Cemetery Road. Slow Horses it is not.2
-
Binge watched The Ridge, very enjoyable. A friend recommended Mr Mercedes. I gave up after three episodes, thought it was plodding along, wife is still going.0

Were enjoying it too. Shes basically replaying her character from homeland but shes good at twitchy , on the edge, so why not. In the third episode and it's building nicely but will it fluff the payoff? That's always the riskCharlton_Charlie said:I really enjoyed (i.e. could switch off my brain for a few minutes) Beast in Me on Netflix (I think)...Clare Danes doing, well, Clare Danes as a disturbed and distracted female author.. …..and a prequel Gomorrah film from 2008 on which the series was based.Jints said:
It's superb and on my list for a rewatch sometime soon. There's a film called the Immortal which is a sequel and, though not as good as the series, well worth a watch.carly burn said:Gommorah.
So I know I'm very late to this, but I did watch the first episode some years ago and stopped for some strange reason. I think it was because I knew how good it was going to be and didn't want to spoil the surprise! Weird I know.
Anyhow. What a production. The final series was a tiny bit laboured but the first 3/4 were as good as anything I've ever watched. It goes off at such a speed that I thought I'd spent a few hours in the hadron collider after watching season 1!
There is absolutely no filler, and on the odd occasion that there is anything that does resemble a drawn out conversation it is essential for the story. No fluff here. Just pure unadulterated violence. The twists and back stabbing will leave you covering your mouth at the end of most episodes and it has a death count only rivaled by the dinosaur extinction!!
I've knocked it out in just under two months which is some going for me.
Think it's in my top 3.Similarly the film and subsequent series
“Romanzo Criminale” was decent too if you like the genre.0 -
To be fair, this was fascinating. Beautifully shot with a lovely score (sometimes ruined by harsh Icelandic accents), I did nod off before the end though so I never got to find out if the giant moss creature took over the world…Stig said:Not a series, but a one off documentary. Maybe late to this but watching first series ( there's 2) of Bay of Fires on IT X. What a wonderfully bonkers series.0

Im halfway through Tehran after someone on here mentioned it
Really good, second series is picking up well and weirdly Glenn Close is in it and smashing it even if she did make me jump out if my skin when she showed up2 -
Landman 2 is awesome2
-
That and Mayor of Kingstown are the best watches atm, although really looking forward to the second series of the Night Manager on NYD.ValleyGary said:Landman 2 is awesome1 -
The second series of the French production Blood Coast about drug gangs v police in Marseille is excellent. Available on Netflix1

The Revenge Club on Paramount+.
Just started this. Pretty good so far. Group of recently divorced people at a help group start taking petty revenge on their ex partners and it escalates to murder.
Douglas Henshaw is great as the ex military living in a caravan on his ex wife’s drive.0 -
Second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is out on Disney+Weekly releases on Wednesdays (after a double Episode "Premiere" last week)Might be seen as a bit younger viewing e.g. Harry Potter, but have always enjoyed Rick Riordan's books, especially with a bit of a fresh approach on Greek / Roman Mythology. The show is much more faithful to the original material, compared to the films that came out in the early 2010s, helps when you get eight Episodes that run for 30-40mins each time, rather than a simple 2-hour film. But its a good fun watch.1

Not sure if someone has mentioned it already but ‘Mr Inbetween’ is up there with the best series I’ve ever seen.6

I rewatched it too, in preparation for S5.KBslittlesis said:The first of series 5 of Stranger Things starts on himselfs birthday. So I took the step & asked if he wanted to watch it from the start so we could watch the last series together & he said yes!
So we started again tonight.
Third time for me, first for him.
I hadn't noticed before but there are a few nods to the film Witness in the first 3 episodes in series one. Is this a thing? Are there nods to other 80's classics in the episodes by the Duffer Brothers?
Or am I massively overthinking it?There's an episode in S4 when the military are searching the desert base for 11 and the commander says "Quarter and search by 2's. Hicks, take the upper level", which is a line straight out of Aliens.0 -

On the subject of Stranger Things, what are your thoughts on the final series so far ?
Have to admit that it's rather "tame" IMO.....
I was SO looking forward to it but seems I expected too much.0 -
Death by Lightening (Netflix) very enjoyable 4 parter about the assassination of US President James Garfield - excellent acting especially Matthew Macfadyen and Shea Wigham
Black Rabbit - two episodes into this and really enjoying it. Jude Law and Justin Bateman as brothers running a restaurant/bar with gangsters threatening the enterprise.1 -
A week laid up with chest infection and flu has brought a few new things to my watching table, but particularly enjoying Landman.Halfway through series 13

Dark Wind season 3 on U & Aibi is a cracking little series. Thought the first 2 were good but series 3 keeps it going nicely.0

I think you might be lulled into a false sense Fanny, although I didn’t think the ending of volume one was tame at all 😳0 -
