Why does T.Campbell keep getting selected

Another match with no goals or assists, but this time with a 60 minute spell of being unable to find a 2 yard pass.
It's not his fault, but it is criminal how reliant we are on him as an attacking outlet when he really isn't good enough yet.

Young player in “taking a little while to get up to speed of the next level” shocker.
I’d have money on him scoring about three or four in a row after Christmas.8 -
At the risk of being accused of digging him out too much, young player but should know how to pass after the amount of appearances under his belt, the 3-4 goals is very wishful thinking IMO, I don’t confess to always being right as I don’t have an Ego😜 I would love him to take the next step and would cheer to the rafters if he did as he is charlton, but there needs to be realism to see that for all the huff and puffing it’s not working for him at the moment and the odd moment in the odd game isn’t enough.Callumcafc said:Young player in “taking a little while to get up to speed of the next level” shocker.

We do rely on him going forward, but we also rely on him defensively. We don’t have any other attacking player that can do the work that he does.Croydon said:Another match with no goals or assists, but this time with a 60 minute spell of being unable to find a 2 yard pass.

We need to sign another option in January, just so we can give TC a breather sometimes7 -
I'll take that bet, donation to the upbeats?Callumcafc said:Young player in “taking a little while to get up to speed of the next level” shocker.

If we don’t want him I’m sure there’s a few championship clubs that would be happy to take a 22 year old international with 120 appearances off our hands…6
-
Campbell is not exactly Ryan Giggs but without him we'd be creating a lot less than what we do already.I cannot question his workrate.10
-
How many would be starting him week in, week out though? Not many I'd bet. He's definitely a useful option at this level, just shouldn't be our only one.Diebythesword said:If we don’t want him I’m sure there’s a few championship clubs that would be happy to take a 22 year old international with 120 appearances off our hands…

He’s honestly better than quite a few strikers/wingers at this level.Croydon said:

Yeah alright. What’s the actual bet though? TC scores in three games in a row between now and the end of the season? 3 in 3 or 4 in 4 (allowing for doubles and hat tricks?)DDOUBLEE said:

I want nothing more than him to score a few goals but it just won't happen. Yes his work rate is good, yes he is young but he has played enough games now to be able to pass a ball which he can't do.
He gets into great positions but he can't cross a ball or shoot so we are only wasting our own time. Still think he would do a far better job off the bench and run tired teams ragged.4 -
Misplacing a couple of passes because he’s knackered doesn’t mean he can’t pass the ball.
It’s not the best stat but his pass completion % is the best in our squad (excluding Hernandez and Anderson who have barely played). He’s also our 5th best for key passes per 90 so it’s not like he’s just making easy ones all the time
People seem to have some irrational dislike of TC at the moment. Any time he does anything wrong (even if it’s not even his fault) gets a crowd reaction. And people focus on his mistakes rather than his overall performance, and focus on a few recent poor games rather than his whole season6 -
TC’s best appearance this season has come off the bench so I wouldn’t actually mind benching him and bringing him on as a super sub.Problem is he’s also the only player we have that suits the way we want to play and at the end of the day you’re more likely to win a game in 70 minutes than win one in 20 minutes.Doesn’t help that he doesn’t have a good striker to play off that defenders have to think about as well like we saw with Godden last year so every team can solely focus on what he’s doing4

What's the difference between 'Accurate Long Balls' and 'Long Ball Accuracy'? They sound remarkably similar and 0.39 would be very close to 40% (assuming a scale of 0>1). There must be some difference though because one has a long line coloured green (presumably meaning good) and the other has a shorter orange line (presumably meaning mediocre).NabySarr said:

I’d take this bet - basically printing money for me - he’s the worst finisher we’ve had at the club at this level (worse than Church and Tucudean).Callumcafc said:Young player in “taking a little while to get up to speed of the next level” shocker.
I’d have money on him scoring about three or four in a row after Christmas. He won’t score a league goal all season - I called 20 games early and only two more to go for that.He may fluke one perhaps with his game time but 3 or 4 in a row is utter fantasy. He gets into no other championship teams starting 11 - he’s an average league one winger and we need better to stay up.6 -
Absolutely spot on. Nowhere near a championship player albeit still young. But his end product is woeful.CAFC_boi said:

Unfortunately i think we may have signed a worse finisher in the summer and he is probably the only alternative we have up top to TC so i'm not sure who you want to play instead? We could recall MBick or Kanu or try and sign a player in the window but for the next month, we don't have a lot of options do we? Nobody anticipated Godden's operation would be botched and Kelman would also be out at the same time.CAFC_boi said:

Some think he's doing well and some think he's not. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on how they see his performances whether good or bad.
Personally I think he needs a few games coming off the bench as his footballing schedule since the start of last season means he has had very little rest time. We would hopefully then see a TC ready to show everyone that he is a Championship quality player. Because all I want to see is a winning Charlton team and if he can help to achieve that then everyone will be happy.2 -

His passing is shocking. Whatever the stats say, you need to judge by the consistency with which he makes abysmal execution of often simple looking passes.NabySarr said:

And people focus on his mistakes rather than his overall performance, and focus on a few recent poor games rather than his whole seasonMost of the passes he makes are simple / backwards drop off to full back or cm behind him. The key passes you / the stats refer to were probably crosses like for Leaburn’s goal at Ipswich.I like TC and can see what he offers, however he shouldn’t be in our team if we were where we need to be, he should be a dangerous threat coming off the bench and it is madness that he has barely ever been employed in this role.1 -
TC and Leaburn get passes because they are Charlton Yoof, simple as that1
-
He’d easily get in to quite a few championship sides. To say otherwise is ludicrous. Not top sides, but some of the teams we’ve had at the valley would love a player like TCCAFC_boi said:

I still don’t understand this sentiment. It’s probably them two plus Kaminski that are getting the most criticism lately.DDOUBLEE said:TC and Leaburn get passes because they are Charlton Yoof, simple as that
You don’t see the irony in posting this on a thread asking “why does TC keep being selected?”?12 -
TC was awful yesterday after Bell was subbed, he barely found a Charlton player all game.
He either passed the ball to an open space that Coventry (team) collected or he passed to them.
He's clearly exhausted (not surprising since I think he's featured in most every game and started nearly all).
He needs to be rested, put him on the bench and bring him on in the second half for a game or two.
I'd give Apter a chance in his place, but whoever starts in his place, give TC a rest he deserves it.
NB I just read the players marks thread and Blucher agrees and he's never wrong.2 -
I said this during the thread yesterday and upset a few for it. Made a couple of comments in jest that were taken as insults, which although someone was being soft wasn’t my intention., but back to TC, his passing and end product are far from being close to good enough he’s made a lot of appearances at a young age so should have improved and he hasn’t in these aspects of his game.Covered End said:TC was awful yesterday, he barely found a Charlton player all game.
