Going to a social occasion where I recognised lots of people I hadn't seen for years. Noticing the sad truth that there are two distinct kinds of people in this age group: those who've shrunk and those who've ballooned. So, if you've reached a certain age and haven't reverted to kiddie clothes, I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but you're one of the bloaters.

Seeing The Mrs Merton show on TV. What a steaming pile of crap.
  • I've a little side hustle as a steward.

Worked an 8 hour function today. My knee is now killing me and everything seems to hurt.

But the thing that really made me chuckle was as I held the door open for departing guests and wished them goodnight, one young lady said to me "Thanks but you get yourself back inside. You shouldn't be out in this cold".

She's right, of course, but it still made me feel very old!

Found my copy of Keith Peacock's book No Substitute whilst trying to find something else.

Couldn't resist looking at it again and reading once more about his early days as his first season in the first team was my first season attending matches.

Very enjoyable until the thought that it is 62 (pushing 63) years since I first went to The Valley on the East Terrace.

Not as young as I once was.

Dancing at a party next to the DJ’s parents…

…and they are both younger than you!

Just had an Xray on my knee - what a warzone!
  • All this talk of nightclubs
  • When you celebrate your birthday with a lunch rather than night out.
    An old one, but...

A group of 40-year-old blokes who were having a reunion discussed where they should meet for dinner.

Finally, it was agreed that they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because the waitresses there had low-cut blouses and were very attractive.

10 years later at 50 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for dinner. Finally, it was agreed that they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because the food there was very good and the wine selection was excellent.

10 years later at 60 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for dinner. Finally, it was agreed that they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because they could eat there in peace and quiet, the restaurant had a beautiful view of the ocean, and parking was convenient.

10 years later, at 70 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for dinner. Finally, it was agreed that they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because there was a discount for pensioners on Thursdays, and frequent buses stopped outside.

10 years later, at 80 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for dinner. Finally, it was agreed that they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because they had never been there before.
