Let's bring him back and see what he's got now. If he's on a massive trajectory in his development it needs to be with us.

Agree but depends when we can recall him. If clubs like Brighton are now watching him I’m sure there’s others. Only concern is if the recall isn’t until Jan and prem clubs put in an offer he might not be recalled to play for us.

What size offer would that take though? I don’t see us selling young players for a couple of million like we would have done under previous ownerships.

Unfortunately anywhere from 5 million I think we accept with a sell on clause (don’t agree with it). I’m sure I’ll hear more at Christmas how close Brighton are to putting in an offer but apparently they’re watching him

Brighton are incredibly thin up top in terms of options, Evan Ferguson hasn't fulfilled his promise and is out on loan at Roma , think one of their other strikers got injured midweek and is out long term and Welbeck won't go on forever.

Can completely understand why they'd be watching Mbick as a long term option.

Absolutely. He looks to have put his less than impressive Wembley cameo firmly behind him. That in itself shows strength of character. Plus any scout would see that he's displaying  more than enough to suggest he could train on to be something rather decent. I hope he stays and we get to see how pans out it ourselves.

Given our own striker issues plus how ludicrously expensive it is to buy proven goalscorers, I’d personally be extremely disappointed if we sold MBick to the PL before he’s had a real chance in our own squad - even at £5M-£10M.

Guess it’s bird in the hand v bird in the bush territory for the club if they receive a decent offer - but given we’re only one step away from the PL ourselves, I’d flip the logic there that Micah is Charlton’s bird in the hand in terms of future firepower and it’s every bit as big a gamble for us to try and buy-in goals from elsewhere.

Then again some of it will of course depend on what the player wants. You’d hope there’s a bit of loyalty to the club that brought him up and to Jones who brought him on at Wembley.

If the PL interest is that serious, then let’s at least get him back for the second half of the season and take a closer look ourselves, rather than snatch at a January pay day.

Accepting £5 million would be such a poor decision. Exciting youngsters go for a lot more than that in this league. All he needs is one good season in the Champ and he'd be going for big money.

He won’t have as much time in the prem and given his current propensity for slightly extended impressive close control, he will be tackled sooner and with more skill and nous from better defenders.
    Micha is 18.
Eighteen with several more years of development due to happen.
Moving to Brighton (good club though they are) for a scant five million would in my opinion be a mistake for them us and Micha football wise, even if the money is tempting.

Micah wouldn’t be close to their first team and would most likely be loaned back to Colchester anyway. He’d then have greater loan options next season. It could be the right move for his career but hopeful we’d need a decent wedge

If Brighton think he's done enough to be worth paying £5m for then maybe we should give him a chance in our first team. A teenage striker impressing at this level could be worth £10-20m.

He's under contract until 2028 plus a further 1 year club option, so we're under no pressure to sell from that perspective.

Every PL club should be monitoring teenagers playing well in the EFL, I don't think it necessarily means we'll be getting offers in that range in January.

Brighton have a history of developing players and turning massive profit on for them. Wouldn’t look to sell Mbick but if they offer a 20% sell on in the future and a big fee you would have to at least consider it, wouldn’t be a better club than Brighton to sell to

Sounds like Mbick to Brighton is closer than just scouting. They think if they get their way he won’t play for us again…

Just think, if we sold this exciting young player who scores goals we could sign another round of Apter, Knibbs and Oloafe.

Not sure any of those players deserve that tinge of negativity.

And is the £5m you suggested the amount you've heard we'd accept?

If they get their way being the operative bit of that sentence. I’m sure teams thought that about TC in January but we got our way instead

However, if Brighton are sniffing around then the case for recalling him makes more sense. Either his value increases because he plays well in the Championship or he doesn’t play well and it might put Brighton off

It’s hard to believe it’s the same player that came on in the play-off final, he looked that day that he was running in treacle.

He looked overawed in the play-off final, wouldn't make anything of his performance that day.

Where are you hearing this ?  Sounds like more agent talk akin to Leaburn 2 years ago.

I'd be stagggered if Mbick went this season & I'd be even more staggered if he went for £5m. Or anything like it.

Give him & Kanu at least another season & then see where they are.

Yeah will chalk it down to being a crazy experience playing at Wembley in front of that many people. As I’ve said he’s always got into great positions just looked a bit shocked he got the ball and didn’t know what to do with it.

They can have Leaburn instead of either of them

Agree with this and yes we're under no pressure to sell but it's a tricky decision for the owners. Yes he could have a great season for us and be worth 15-20m by summer 2027, but equally he could struggle and then we're not even going to get the 5m.

Look at Leaburn, a year or so ago people would've said no way should we sell him if we got an offer of 5m+. Now he hasn't made the step up i don't think buyers are queuing up.

The owners might well look at it as 5m plus a sell on fee for a striker who's never scored above league two level is worth it if it means we can strengthen the defence and buy competition for TC. Ultimately though i think they'd let Jones make the final call on what to do.

Every club in England will be aware of MM and DK because they all, including us, have databanks on players, ones to sign now, ones for later, ones to sign if they fall out of favour at their current clubs.

That the pair are young, score goals and are signed to a recently league 1 club with a reputation for taking the first offer (under previous owners at least) will only encourge bids from richer clubs.

None of that means Brighton or anyone will make a bid or that we'll accept it.

Brighton will be scouting dozens of players accros the world and Mbick is one of them.

All teams are looking for the physical profile that Mbick has when looking for a striker. Was similar with Leaburn that teams are going to be interested very early when a big striker that’s got technical quality and mobility starts doing well in men’s football

I don’t think Kanu has got the technical ability for PL interest, but pressing is such an important part of the modern game and it is his best attribute so I’m sure plenty are watching with interest
