TC reluctant to go to the traveling fans when he scored. Clearly visible from TV coverage, even when pushed that way by one of our players (not sure who). Understandable for the grief he has been getting from a significant number. Also shows what a sensitive soul he is, and possibly why that grief can be damaging. Hopefully he kicks on and can get back to a more natural forward, out-ball position with other players returning.
He is experienced in the side now and needs to take responsibility, he wasn't good against Middlesbrough... although he has been asked to play away from his natural position of late. Fans have opinions and it was clear to everyone that a change was needed. From my experience Charlton fans will always back players/team as long as there is an effort and desire to win the ball. Today he was rightly 'rested' ...came on and did his job.

I feel for TC but playing him every week has done him no favours. He is so young so I really hope he's not been reading this site under any circumstances!

However pulling out of that 50/50 tackle last week was I think the reason he actually got dropped today. Remember Bowyer subbed someone off years back for doing the same and he said as much that no player should ever do that.

Anyway, it was a good composed goal but for me I'd still leave him on the bench as an impact player for a bit longer.

Its how that criticism gets handed out that needs looking at though... I mean if you're going to criticise his performances the way that you've done, there can be no real complaints - But you only need to go look at the "abuse" that Leaburn was getting for his miss in the first half on the Match Thread, because lets be honest, that's not an isolated incident towards Miles either.
  • Nice skill from Tanto and a calm head from TC.
    Well done lads 🎧
  • Lloyd Jones threw up pitchside then hence the delay getting him back on.
Not surprised, given he was on all fours at one point, and clearly hadn't been involved in any sort of coming together that could have resulted in concussion at the time either.

I don't think it was a case of pulling out but more he was waiting for the ball to come to him when he should have just attacked it.
  • Angry Tanto is fantastic to watch! Feared him being wound up and on a yellow but it certainly up’d his game and lead to being involved in the goal too.. want to see more of that!

Will add though, there’s been a lot of frustrations aimed at TC, but I find Leaburn the player that angers me so much more. Just don’t think he’s cut out for this league and that miss was a perfect example of it.

Great point. I look at Anderson and Fuller, players who have not been affected by this bad run and they played with their heads up and it helped everyone else. I'm glad Campbell got his goal but he clearly had the hump and had to be told by Lloyd Jones to go to the fans, quite simply, the fans did not get you dropped, you achieved that on your own, grow a pair please. Apart from that, I thought Birmingham were poor, we were there for the taking first half and they didn't push on.

This. I actually think 2 of his best performances this year were today and at Ipswich, where he was sub both times.

Coming on and being fresh and able to run at tiring defenders is a big plus.

Lloyd Jones adding to his legend status.  I would never have guessed he'd actually vomited as he played so well.
  • Great point to stop the rot and with the scoreline from the Den that makes it a good afternoon in my book.

What? He clashed heads with the Brum player.

Unfortunately FA, that will not change, it's another consequence of this or any other bad run, I remember when Johnnie Jackson was appointed as Manager after winning nine league games, people were besides themselves that Sandgaard was dithering over his appointment, he gor the job, a month later he lost Stockley and Washington to injury and we couldn't score in a brothel, the same people wanted him sacked ASAP.

The Brum commentators on the stream I watched kept banging on in the second half that Lloyd should not be on the pitch because he had a concussion injury even though they admitted they had not seen the injury nor did they have access to any replays either.
  • In the end it was a fun watch. Although we were second best in the first half, I never thought we really looked in trouble. I was worrried we would never score, Tanto and Jones both couldn’t hit the target with decent headers, and Leaburns miss was woeful. We looked the better team for the first 30 minutes of the second half, but Brum did pick it up after we equalized, and I was glad to hear the final whistle.

Fullah did a decent job at wingback - he’d obviously been told to make sure he defended, which stopped him getting forward too much, but it was what me needed. Anderson looked good, although he had a little spell mid first half where he couldn’t find a red shirt with his passes. JRC showed a nice bit of skill beating 2/3 players, although his final ball was poor.

    Overall, not a bad day.

They were ok the first half but in the second half they, well him in particular, became very biased against us. Keep mentioning how Jones shouldn't be still on due to concussion and NJ going against protocols.
Then that whole Anderson tackle on Stansfield by the half way line and saying he was lucky as he wasn't the last man so that's why Anderson only got the yellow did make me laugh.
  • A priceless point! And, I hope, confidence restored.

Deserved point really should have been 3 Leaburn miss from 6 yards .. but we take it and move on to a massive game next week with hopefully a couple of players returning ..
