How are you watching Charlton away matches live
Reading through the match threads (after the game) including the Middlesboro fans forum one for their match against us at the Valley, I get the impression that people are watching on all sorts of different "streaming platforms", not just Sky.
I come to every home game but havn't been to an away game since the early 90's . A couple of years ago I was quite happy to pay Charlton TV £10 to watch midweek away games live, but that wasn't possible for Saturday games then, and is now no longer available with the new Sky contract.
I havn't got Sky (just a dish and Freesat box) and am reluctant to fork out for it because I know loads of people who've cancelled it because of the cost going up. Also there are only 3 Saturday games a week listed for Sky (only occasionally a Charlton away game) although I get the impression that people are seeing other games too including Charlton ones.
So what "platforms" are people watching (and how) to see Charlton away games (you cant all be living overseas ?

Get a VPN (you can get a big discount on Nord VPN via the club), set it to Luxembourg and pay your £10 for Charlton TV3

I suspect anyone in the UK watching 3pm Saturday games is either using a VPN with an overseas broadcaster subscription, or—more likely—relying on dodgy streaming sites. A quick Google will turn them up easily enough, though obviously not something that should be posted on here.

Download NordVPN, set your location to a different country then get a pass to watch the game0

@CombeMartin just sent you a message with a pretty reliable set up0

IPTV
£70 for the year (£80 as a newbie) and you basically get all Sports channels, all iFollow teams (so was easy to watch Mbick given that Colchester KO'd at 12:30 on Saturday) - Plus the likes of Disney, Apple, Netflix programmes and films etc... Kodi remains another option as well (for free), if you can access the right Repositories and Builds, but find that a bit less reliable, and buffers on a bit more of a regular basis.4 -

Would pay a subscription to Charlton TV if i was earning but as it is, fawanews, for all games worldwide, not totally reliable but free.1

Given clubs now see the majority of games are probably now accessible to watch live, quite legitimately, it begs the question question why the PL, EFL, clubs and anyone else stuck in the mid-twentieth century and too naive to understand the futility of it are still holding out on the the remaining games still being played at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon.
The argument that fans would then stay at home doesn’t stack up because by-passing those out of date restrictions is simple to do and certainly a lot cheaper than going to a game yet fans in their numbers still do want to be at the game anyway.

Everyone I know. And I mean EVERYONE. Tell me they do this:
buy an Amazon UHD Fire Stick. Give it to a dodgy fella to either get him to upload everything or give you an App with a code.Pay him £80. Stick it in your telly and after some passwords and downloading voila. You now have every channel. Every bit of tv and every sport from everywhere.even the latest films For the whole year and you pay no more. Even if the Charlton TV freezes you just switch to whatever team you’re playing. So I’ve been told anyway 🤪6 -
Even if you are not very IT literate this is pretty easy to do. The other advantage of this is you get the Charlton TV commentators for a Charlton perspective rather than sky who know little of Charlton or tactics.fenaddick said:Get a VPN (you can get a big discount on Nord VPN via the club), set it to Luxembourg and pay your £10 for Charlton TV2 -
I'm stuck in the olden days & dont watch any Sat 3pm games live. Reading on here it seems ridiculously easy to get a VPN & set it to Outer Mongolia or the Falklands & watch the game.....but that's too much faff for me. Maybe one day I'll be dragged kicking & screaming into the 2020's but for now I just watch Soccer Saturday & the updates from the Match Thread.7

I don't it every away game (if I'm not there) but I have a Surfshark subscription and I'm happy to pay the club £10 to watch a game.fenaddick said:Get a VPN (you can get a big discount on Nord VPN via the club), set it to Luxembourg and pay your £10 for Charlton TV1 -

I obviously wouldn’t do it but, as advised, you can download a VPN, e.g. NORD, Opera etc. Set that to another location (Europe, Asia, Americas) and then buy a Charlton TV stream on either a match by match basis or for the season, and watch virtually all home and away games, including 3 pm Saturday kick offs
Great for when you are abroad on holiday and also those occasions when you just need to pop over to Oslo or Bangkok for a couple of hours around 3pm on a Saturday.1 -
I remember the early eighties when it was believed that if you showed more than two or three games per year on TV, no one would ever actually go out to watch a match again and football would die without any spectators.letthegoodtimesroll said:Given clubs now see the majority of games are probably now accessible to watch live, quite legitimately, it begs the question question why the PL, EFL, clubs and anyone else stuck in the mid-twentieth century and too naive to understand the futility of it are still holding out on the the remaining games still being played at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon.

Yet now we have a situation where every single world cup game is free on TV but people seem willing to pay six months salary to attend a match live!
The whole bloody 3.00pm blackout thing is just superstitious crap.
What do people expect to happen to attendances if you play games on Sunday evening in order to avoid that 3.00pm Saturday slot! It's like some sort of bizarre self harm!

I get Godden to film live all the matches for me from his phone. I mean he's not doing anything else so thought might as well get some use out of him.15

Luxembourg stopped working for me. I think it’s part of the German Sky deal?fenaddick said:Get a VPN (you can get a big discount on Nord VPN via the club), set it to Luxembourg and pay your £10 for Charlton TVSpain works perfectly for me.0 -
I’ve got no idea what a vpn is or what I’d do with it. I listen to the CATV commentary and go on the match thread.golfaddick said:I'm stuck in the olden days & dont watch any Sat 3pm games live. I go to 50% of the away games (this season at least) and generally don't bother watching the ones I don't go to!0
