Death by Lightening (Netflix) very enjoyable 4 parter about the assassination of US President James Garfield - excellent acting especially Matthew Macfadyen and Shea Wigham

    Yes it’s excellent

Not sure if someone has mentioned it already but ‘Mr Inbetween’ is up there with the best series I’ve ever seen.
    'Yeah I don't answer questions'

    🤣

    Incredible series
Just finished watching this and agree it's excellent. Ray is such an amazing character.

On the subject of Stranger Things, what are your thoughts on the final series so far ?

Have to admit that it's rather "tame" IMO.....

I was SO looking forward to it but seems I expected too much.
I'm hoping there will be some genuine shocks in the final few episodes. The main characters plot armour is far too strong and they only ever really kill off supporting cast. They need to go full-on Game of Thrones!

I must have watched it all a few times. Ray is such an incredible character, I can’t believe Scott Ryan wrote and made it all by himself.

If you want more Ray, he also made a indie film on the character called ‘The Magician’.

I discovered it just before, I think the 3rd series came out and it still blows my mind it hasnt got more traction. Ray is a solid role model, putting aside the body count he racks up. He is loyal, loves his daughter, his dog, really has a strong moral code. Doesn't grass and has a very healthy disdain for flouncing shittery

    Great guy

  • Anyone watched IT Welcome to Derry?
    Sky Atlantic.

If you're a Stephen King fan and read IT, you'll love it. If you saw the films Chapter 1 & 2, you'll really love it.

I'm going to re read it and re watch the films and then watch the series again. I was sceptical but oh my, it was great.

    Pennywise is brilliant 👏 👌
  • And to add.
I've just read that the Duffer Brothers actually wanted to do the remake of IT but didn’t get it……..so they did Stranger Things.
It all makes sooooooo much sense now.

Tried to watch War between Land and Sea, Just woke nonsense from the BBC, absolute rubbish.
AND I have to pay for this old toffee.

anyone got any recommendations similar to severance, silo type shows?
    Station 11 which is excellent
Foundation has good reviews. I'm only two episodes in but liking it so far
Finally watching this - it's fantastic. Closest thing I've ever seen to The Leftovers. The premise has been done to death, but it's a  fresh enough take to make it compelling, and it feels almost deliberately low-key.

Currently refreshing ourselves on the first series of The Night Manager. Aired in 2016 with series two starting early January. Glad we are as completely forgotten what it was all about. Two episodes in, very enjoyable watch, great cast, would recommend.

You know it’s bad when they show double episodes each week to get it over with quickly

Just finished series 2 of Mr Inbetween. Think I even shed a tear. Rays brother is a fantastic actor.

    Nice one for the recommendations.

Season 2 of Fallout started on Prime yesterday. Annoyingly they are doing 1 episode a week rather than the whole lot in one go.

Good start, but am going to have to have to rewatch the first series to get back up to speed.

Are you  sure we're not twins ! ( Scrub that- you're more likely to be my daughter !)

We've just finished IT Welcome to Derry & thoroughly enjoyed it.

Very gory at times but liked the characters created for the prelude to SK's book.

Now awaiting the final 3 parts of Stranger Things...

As a rule you shouldn't judge a show you haven't seen but as this one's written and directed by Russell T Davies I'm prepared to make an exception.

It’s going out with a whimper imo.

Too many story lines all blurring into one.

i have a feeling I’ve guessed the ending as well….

The worst 3 episodes of stranger things to date.  So much talking, but nothing said.  When the creators have to give an interview to explain things that happened in the episode as it was not clear to the audience, something has gone wrong.

So much to do now in the final 2.5 hours to wrap it all up.

Oh dear. I haven’t seen these latest episodes yet, but the way you’re describing it is giving me “Game of Thrones rushed ending PTSD”. 🤦‍♂️
