Given his love of football pin badges and all the money being raised at the moment, I thought it might be great to have a Headphones Norm inspired pin badge. Could then be sold to raise money for charity or the community trust.38

The Charlton logo with the headphones would make a brilliant pin badge!PeakieRocket said:Given his love of football pin badges and all the money being raised at the moment, I thought it might be great to have a Headphones Norm inspired pin badge. Yes, I'm not sure wh yet was then? The Brum fans in the pub before the game thought it was going to be in the 13th minute but that timing coincided with with Lloydy needing to go off the pitch, Kaminski going down and the Brum crowd loudly shouting and booing it all....... so not sure if that made them re-think the timing?Arthur_Trudgill said:
Indeed.Stig said:
Very nice touch, but what was the significance of the timing?Weegie Addick said:Classy touch. Ref paused the game for applause again too.
Someone near where I was sitting mentioned something about the timing being to do with the number of consecutive years Norm had a season ticket.3 -
This would be so fitting.Stuart_the_Red said:

I think the pin badge is genius and perhaps a portion of income made could go to the Heart foundation or something along those lines.11

I feel stuff like that needs to be properly communicated with the family, and any sort of merchandise (or collection items) should be consulted with them before making and shared among us.Just want to avoid doing anything in poor taste.

I had know Norman since 1989 when he was the barman at the Million hare pub on Warspite road in Woolwich and I was a fresh faced 15 year old starting his first real job driving a fork lift truck in a warehouse.
From the first day I met him to the last time I saw him earlier this season he always had a smile on his face and would talk to anyone and give up his time to talk to you.
A true gentleman who will be missed by everyone connected and not connected to CAFC!
I'm honoured to say for 36 years Norman was my mate and I will miss him.
God bless fella!

Lovely words Alan, but you may wish to put an edit on your penultimate sentence.AL_CAFC said:I had know Norman since 1989 when he was the barman at the Million hare pub on Warspite road in Woolwich and I was a fresh faced 15 year old starting his first real job driving a fork lift truck in a warehouse.

There was a minute's applause at the Valley yesterday before the women's game. Watford players and fans all joined in.12

Its great to see the genoristy of Addicks thus far to Norms Memorial fund, be good if the CAST crowdfunder could be shown on the big screen on Saturday & in the programme, as not all ADDICKS will be aware of it.
Maybe this is already planned.......

A large ask, especially at this point of the year, but one that we think we can hit- and enables a similar permanent tribute to Seb’s Mosaic.
The decision on what the tribute at The Valley will be is yet to be had, but this will be fully working with Norms Family and their wishes!Let’s get it to £10k by 3pm Saturday 🫡🫡1 -
Can we link the monies from the Pompey one to pay for whatever tribute is decided? Would make sense.2
-
Across 3 fundraisers in the weeks leading up to Xmas, around £18,500 has been raised. It’s an an incredible amount of money.9
-
Yes - we are in touch with the Pompey organiser who wishes it to be contributed / combined.bolloxbolder said:Can we link the monies from the Pompey one to pay for whatever tribute is decided? Would make sense.4 -
Crowdfunder now approaching £9.5k6

Attended Norms Funeral earlier today , 11am 28.1.26. It was a nice sunny day.But there was warmth of a different kind that I felt even with the apparently empty stadium today. The warmth of the people who were there as though the whole stadium was full. There was complete silence as the reel of Norms life was unveiled by his younger sibling Lorna. A real masterpiece. Then Norms Niece Venetia read out the first verse in such a heavenly voice that I don’t recall ever having heard before. Straight from the heart in the purest of voices.Funeral was well conducted by Matt Baker, the club Chaplain.Paul Elliott was excellent in his tribute to Norm.Uden and Sons, the Funeral Directors were impeccable as usual. The birds were chirping to applaud a truly remarkable human being. Many birds were seen landing in front of the goal at the covered end to the right of Normans seat. They stayed silent as if they knew the service was about to end.All who knew Norm in any way are truly blessed.I am fortunate that not only because we went to the same school but he was in my maths class as well.It was Charlton Secondary School for boys 1969-1973.GENTLEFAN ( Lorna give Norm this title earlier today)We also got to know from Lorna that Charlton Athletic Football Club was his first home.Only people close to him would know that. Who could be closer to Norm than his family. He was indeed a very private person even in his school days.It just shows how much his family meant to him that he said in his video that CAFC was his second home. You will always be part of The Valley Norm.R.I.P Norm.Salil Chaudhari

Respect for our "Gentle Fan"
After ten consecutive rainy days the sun shone brightly on Wednesday morning which meant that Norman Barker's funeral could be held on the pitch at The Valley with family, friends, club staff and supporters seated in the West Stand.
Club chaplain Matt Baker conducted what was a very moving ceremony which began with the pall-bearers carrying Norman in to the strains of The Red Red Robin.
