I know Spurs have looked at him last two transfer windows.
Wouldn't be surprised if we go in for him today.
Not sure he's what we need right now.

We desperately need a left winger and a centre forward over yet another CM.

Gossip on the BBC that he is wanted by Man Utd this January
He’s exactly what they need . I can see Palace coming in for him
He's not mad keen on the latter, but does want to get back to England, or at least first team football, to stand a chance of getting in the WC squad. I think that desire might force his hand. Fucking hope not.
Well if he fancies it I'm sure we could offer him first team football.

For a player that was on loan to us for five months six years ago?

We would get a tiny amount though because it would be a cross border transfer and we get a FIFA development fee for those 5 months, wouldn't be much though

Yep, it’s minimal. Those 5 months equate to about 0.21% of any transfer fee. So that’s about £10,500 per £5m.

Pretty mad that we get anything, but we’ll take it!

I can't grip my head around us getting anything for him but its actually logical. He made an astronomical launchpad to his career

Can't help but think if Chelsea weren't Chelsea with Chelsea finances they would be spewing about that

Chelsea would get very short shrift if they did try spewing about it. The rules have tightened a little now, but it wasn’t long ago that they had 42 players out on loan.  They can hardly claim to be nurturing these players when they probably don’t even know who half of them are.

Three years ago I was at Cobham filming their loan squad in action for pre-season. Like a reserve team, but made up of players who were specifically designated as players to go out on loan for the year. It was a team worth over £100m!

“Loan squad” is one of those modern football terms I wish I’d never heard!

Is it still as egregious now or have they calmed down a bit on how many players they have out on loan?
