Good battling performance that lacked quality until TC and Kelman came on. I fear for the next games if Ramsey is out, they got nothing down his side. Apter/ Gillesphey did ok but I doubt they would against a good right winger.
A result we needed but until we can reinforce our defence we will not be out of the woods.
Could have been a 3 point gap to the bottom, now it is 8. Job done.12 -
Leaburn, Ramsay and Bree were excellent today, as were TC and Kelman when they came on. Glad to finally see Leaburn and Kelman play together, they were a real handful. Tanto was disappointing for me. Anderson brought good energy to the midfield and hardly misplaced a pass, I just wish he would be a bit more adventurous when receiving the ball in an attacking position. Hopefully that will develop with time. Not a classic but we deserved the win. Time to start looking up the table, as players start to return from injury (fingers crossed that Ramsay isn't going to be out)7

Big Win? No - Massive Win.
Pivotal game potentially. We had some good spells and some rocky ones but to me it’s pretty much certain they will drop. It is just whether or not we pull away enough to not join them.
At 0-0 I thought I was watching a game that would be repeated in league one next season.
Overall 3 points is all that matters. Bell back to bring the balance back to the defence and we can start to push on. Hopefully Ramsay was just a dead leg.
2 in 2 for Kelman now. Our best striker by a stretch.10 -
Huge win. Didn’t matter how we got it, but we did. Thought pre game the line up looked much better and I feel it was reflected in a better performance.Apter was really good imo and would like to see more of him.I thought Leaburn was immense, won so many headers and they were good flick ons too.Olaofe’s finishing is genuinely dreadful, good job Kelman’s is very good.Just shows how much we’ve missed Kelman, our record with him is very very good.Breathing space and gives us some much needed confidence ahead of another couple huge games.Draws now good results in both.Oxford are rubbish though tbf, a lot of the fans I spoke to want Rowett out, which to me is madness and certain relegation.COYA. Have a good Christmas all!6

Had my nose broke at Oxford in about 1974.
Possibly my fault as we were in their end
Chris Slatery ( forgive spelling) and myself then defended our coach.
Anyway fuck Oxford bunch of interbred wankers26 -
I was told by the person that I sit next to that Leaburn was third (before today) in the headers won per minute table. Leaburn is so much better than he gets credit for on here. He has been isolated up top all season, it’s been him or Kelman and they only had 15 mins of game time together before the half hour they got today. Hopefully jones has worked out that we need two proper forwards up top at all timesSmithy said:Enormous win. Leaburn won more headers in that first half than he has in his whole career and really looked like his old self with the tenacity and skill. Ramsay likewise has found his confidence again.
Anderson is a long way from perfect but I can’t believe how much better he’s looking in the Championship than League One - he brings a balance that we haven’t had recently. Massive respect to Apter as well who was on the wrong side in the wrong position but fought extremely hard and once again just feels like a much more balanced option to start off with before bringing on TC. Felt like a big moment for Kelman to kick on from and I’m looking forward to what he can do going forward.
The win really is all that matters but my god did we make it more difficult than it needed to be. Not sure I’ve felt less assured of us holding on for a win under Jones and any decent team beats us I think. Just got to keep scraping these points until we can get more quality in as it’s desperately needed.15 -
A scrappy game between 2 sides lacking in quality, decided by a really good finish by Kelman. I didn't think we managed the game very well after we scored, giving Oxford far too much possession and space, but they were unable to do much with it.
Ramsay was my MoM, excellent in defence and some decent runs forward, a shame he strained something and had to go off.
Leaburn worked hard, TC looked very sharp when he came on, Tanto is a handful but not a natural finisher.9 -
TC haters in the mud. Changed the game11

I didn't see the game today as I was too busy recovering from my Xmas party last night to even get up in time.
How did Tanto do? Was he playing alongside Leaburn?
Really want him to be able to play TCs position and then the two swap over later in the game. Super sub like.0 -
This literally proves the opposite? The ‘haters’ have asked for him to be rested and not start for a while and since that’s been done, his performances have improved and we’ve got a couple results..cafcnick1992 said:TC haters in the mud. Changed the game
The haters were correct, who would have thought it.14 -

The haters were correct, who would have thought it.Werent you the one who kept a tally of games he went without a goal, saying he wasnt even Championship standard? - Lets not start pretending the "hate" was limited to him becoming an impact player, nor lets pretend the "haters" or the "supporters" are the next coming of Pep.Always find this "We were right" approach a bit pathetic18 -

Time for firing up HMS FA I think...18 -
Not ridiculous, there’s been some conspicuous and frankly ridiculous criticism of our academy players both here and elsewhere recently.stonemuse said:

Not a great spectacle, whiney dark arts pillocks against a workmanlike home side. We could have scored first half, but Kelman took his well. He looked more at home alongside a partner.0

Important win against a poor Oxford team. Their tactics were clear from the start, break up our play, frustrate us and hopefully nick a smash and grab win. We should have scored first half with Tanto but he seems to lack confidence when one on one - if he can develop his final product we will have a player. Today it was about the subs and Kelman and Campbell both looked sharp and up for it. Kelman's goal was quality. However the end did not need to be that nervy as we should have put them to the sword but sat back and soaked up their pressure. Needed this ahead of Norwich and Portsmouth. CoYR3

Just win games
Much improved and a deserved win but Oxford are not Soton or Boro.
They are, however, a team in the bottom three so today's win was very important in terms of points, league position and relieving pressure.
Miles started slowly but then won a couple of headers and was transformed. MOTM.
Kelman's turn and finish were excellent, that's two in two now. Assist from the on fire TC.
Kaminski still gives me kittens and fingers crossed Ramsay is OK.
Meanwhile other results went our way, even Blackburn winning had a silver lining.😉

Needed that win ahead of the busy Christmas period.
Ramsay immense. Hope he's not injured. Real worry if he is. Kelman back and scoring again is a big boost! Hopefully Bell back shortly and a couple reinforcements early Jan and we will be in a much better place.

As we won today and nearly everyone is happy.
Let's start arguing about players and who hates who.
Or we can talk about the match and how the players played today as this is the post match thread. 🙄11 -
I’m not sure where “OTT” criticism becomes “hate” but I think some of that criticism has been ridiculous. We’re always going to be a club that develops our own players, I hope we always will be, but “develop” is the operative word. That takes patience and that has been sorely lacking from grown adults that couldn’t handle that a team that had surpassed expectations so far went on a bad run.stonemuse said:

Kelman coming back and scoring straight away is massive.28

PWR. Much needed and much deserved three points. Leaburn's best game for ages, probably my MOTM. Lloydy was a collouseus as usual. TC showed he is more effective off the bench, against tiring defences, he scares the shit out of them. It was a great goal, good work from Carey who ran at their defence, assist from TC and an excellent finish from Charlie. That's what he's all about, create chances and he will score. Two in two now, hopefully no stopping him. Ramsay excellent too.
Finally, big shout out to Rob Apter. Played in a totally unfamiliar position and didn't let us down, unlucky not to score, put in some decent crosses and corners. One day I hope to see him play it's his true position on the right or even just behind the strikers as a ten.
All in all a good day out.16 -
Most nervous I’ve been all season, by far.Hats off to Leaburn. Put in a real shift, almost like he was playing for his place in the side.Apter was given an opportunity again and I thought he did really well. His defensive header just before half time saved an almost certain goal.Ramsay was back to his very best. Fingers crossed his injury isn’t too serious, because him missing a few games would be a real concern.
Overall we weren’t great, but it’s a huge 3 points. We really need to strengthen in the window.2 -
PWR........and at the game.
2 poor sides battling to stay up. We were the better team but by God we had to work hard for the 3 points.
Only Kelman can call himself a striker. Olaofe tries hard & has some pace but not for the first time this season when put through he can't finish. Leaburn started off not jumping for the ball but after 10 mins took the lead weights out of his boots & after that was getting his head onto everything. Worked his socks off for the cause but sadly wont score many.
Still lack some creativity in the midfield but I get told that's not the way we play so for entertainment NJ leaves it to the defence & goalkeeper to give us the thrills...🙄
Of course I'm glad for the win & Kelman took his goal well. TC also looked sharp (and quick) when he came on and think at the moment being an impact sub might be the answer. Apter also did well at LEB but we are wasting his attacking talents. Just hopo when Bell and/or Edward's are back we can see Apter further forward.
Got my Norwich tickets so let's home for a repeat performance & start puting some distance between us & the bottom 3.6 -
No chance. Looked a dead leg to me. Back on Boxing Day I reckonClem_Snide said:
