Came over from Ireland wiith the wife and kids so delughted with the win.

Ramsay is a magnificent human being, he was excellent. Wonder how much longer we can keep him for.

Oxford were very poor, can't see them staying up.

One of the subs warming up has obviously seen enough of Kelman in training ….. second the ball left his foot he was already celebrating…..

Huge win. Kelman showing what we have been missing up top. Leaburn with a superb target man performance

Having read the thread now think there is some harsh criticism of Olaofe. He made the keeper make a decent save first half and was under pressure from a defender at the time. If he missed an easier chance I can't remember it and on that one alone I'll forgive him. Carey missed at least two better chances first half but I've seen no criticism of him.
The miss looked worse than Leaburns last week to me. A simple shot low and either side of the keeper and he scores.
But all strikers miss sitters at times so, like when Leaburn missed I won't have a go as he did well to get in position.

To be fair he had time for a shit before the shot😂

Thought Anderson was excellent, really tidy and a couple of times his body shape when receiving the ball put us on the front foot, something that Doc doesn’t have in his game.
If Doch or Cov receive the ball facing our goal, the next pass is usually also back towards our goal. They can't feel the space behind or turn into it, and for all their defensive pluses, it definitely slows us down. Totally agree that Karoy is more aggressive and front-footed.

What was the goal celebration all about?

wasn’t sure what they were trying to mime / act?
Dunno, I thought for a minute he was going to do a Bebeto-style baby celebration.

Excellent movement from Kelman in the box to find that space. Just strolled between the defenders and then came alive as the ball found him. Reminded me of Godden's ability to sniff out an opportunity
It’s a quality goal and I can see him hitting double figures now this season if he stays fit.

    He’ll make the difference

Agree,We lack that running into space quite a lot, other sides do it to us.

Great 3pts today, Leaburn today is now the player we need to see all the time with some goals added into the mix, he was excellent and definitely not lazy!!, TC is playing with something to prove which great, Kelman when he came on the goal aside proved the important role he plays, he frees up other players in the system, suddenly Carey came alive, kayne was much more the player we know he is. Well done lads happy Christmas and onto the next game!!.
I can't fault anyone today. Leaburn was an absolute beast up front. Apter and Coventry were great, Tyreece frightened them and the Kelman finish was sublime. We were well worth the win, and that should calm a lot of nerves.
And having been reminded by another post, Anderson looks really comfortable at this level. He harassed the opposition to great effect, but looked good passing and going forward.
I know today wasn't perfect but really with our ongoing injuries, I really thought we put in a good performance.
Come on, let’s be honest about this. Leaburn, as we play him, is a waste of space. He is a huge talent that we totally waste. He looked more alive when Kelman came on but playing him as a lone striker/ target man is like giving the opposition an extra man. If we need to play him like that then his instructions/remit has to be to totally forget he has teammates and to try and go it alone each and every time he gets the ball. Leaburn trying to lay the ball off is the equivalent of giving the opposing defence a fag  break

...My only complaint is I lasted till the 20th December without hearing Wham - Last Christmas, what I didn’t expect was the Covered End to cause that by singing it out loud!
I felt sorry for Miles Leaburn. Last Christmas we gave him our heart. Today he played his heart out for us, but it still wasn't enough. We gave our heart to Charlie Kelman instead. 🫨

  • Great result. Each player played the way we know they can. Leaburn was excellent, Apter looked great on the ball and so pleased for Kelman. Remarkable to look that sharp upon return from injury.

Won a must win and two great results in a row.

Well done Jones and the boys.

He clearly needs to get himself into better scoring positions, but his performance level today was much better than it has been and deserves praise for that, if you can’t score yourself you do you’re best for the team and he did.
  • So, today is the first day of the rest of the season, and I was immensely impressed with our resolve and intensity in getting that first win in seven matches, Leaburn was everywhere, and turned in a MOTM performance, now Miles, that is what we would love every week.
And, once again TC comes into the fold and after just a few minutes laid on a peach of an assist for Charlie Boy to get the winner.
In fact, the entire team performed as one, so up to 17th we go and can look forward to Norwich and Portsmouth with renewed belief...
Yes well done lads, we've finally got ourselves back on track...

We were as good as we needed to be, with more threat once Kelman and Campbell came on. But Ramsay the pick, for me, I thought he was excellent.

    PWR........and at the game.

2 poor sides battling to stay up. We were the better team but by God we had to work hard for the 3 points.

Only Kelman can call himself a striker. Olaofe tries hard & has some pace but not for the first time this season when put through he can't finish. Leaburn started off not jumping for the ball but after 10 mins took the lead weights out of his boots & after that was getting his head onto everything. Worked his socks off for the cause but sadly wont score many.

Still lack some creativity in the midfield but I get told that's not the way we play so for entertainment NJ leaves it to the defence & goalkeeper to give us the thrills...🙄

Of course I'm glad for the win & Kelman took his goal well. TC also looked sharp (and quick) when he came on and think at the moment being an impact sub might be the answer. Apter also did well at LEB but we are wasting his attacking talents. Just hopo when Bell and/or Edward's are back we can see Apter further forward.

Got my Norwich tickets so let's home for a repeat performance & start puting some distance between us & the bottom 3.
That’s  the best  post you’ve made this year.

Generally, having not seen the match, I’m pleased with what I’m reading on here. I’m so pleased to see that TC got the assist and was delighted on Final Score to see not only that we’d scored but moreover that it was Kelman.  Both they two and Apter are hugely underrated imo. I, like Golfie, on the other hand, don’t rate Leaburn but it’s great that he too is getting the plaudits on here. I hope that he proves me wrong. My hope for 2028/29 ish is to see us as a steady Championship club like Preston or Bristol City with those 3, hopefully 4, becoming senior Championship stewarts that other clubs’ fans admire and respect.   ( Carey will be long gone as he’s too good imo)

It looks worse when you watch it back. Literally needed to roll it either side.

Likewise Carey could just pass it into the corner with a bit more composure.

We actually had by far the best of the clear cut chances.

6 days on the piss in Adelaide,  4 days of wanky England cricket and this is the best hangover cure .
Keeps the breathing space between the big R and us so don’t lose these next 2 and we’ve given ourselves a monster chance of staying up .

Now to get ready for the last act of humiliation against the Aussies …. If you hear boooooing it’s me !!! It’s made Charlton pick up their results , it’s the way forward boooo everyone  and everything !!

TC haters in the mud. Changed the game
This literally proves the opposite? The ‘haters’ have asked for him to be rested and not start for a while and since that’s been done, his performances have improved and we’ve got a couple results..

The haters were correct, who would have thought it.
Werent you the one who kept a tally of games he went without a goal, saying he wasnt even Championship standard? - Lets not start pretending the "hate" was limited to him becoming an impact player, nor lets pretend the "haters" or the "supporters" are the next coming of Pep.
Always find this "We were right" approach a bit pathetic
That's exactly why they do it, look at those who were still saying that with even with the amazing run we went on from December last year, 'we still are not as good as those around us, and we don't score enough goals' we got promoted, I enjoyed their silence if not their humility.
