Annoyingly I didn't, noone even had him quoted for a goalscorer bet, but had a chunky bet on 1-0 so can't complain too much

Great result for us. We really needed the 3 points. Leaburn played well but Oxford were poor. I hope he can pick it up against better players as, up to now, he has looked pretty weak against stronger more aggressive defenders.

I liked Kelman when he came on. He gives us energy up front and is an intelligent player. We’ve been missing him.
Campbell seems to be playing better coming off the bench. That’s probably a better option for him at the moment.

And, I thought Apter did a really good job today. He gives us another option out wide going forward.

Things will start looking up now hopefully. It looks like Bell will be back in the team soon, which will be huge for us. And then Edwards to come back. We’ve been missing his energy and physicality.
Not sure what’s going on with Godden but I do feel better about Kelman now so that helps.

Onwards and upwards. Hopefully the owners will invest some in the January window.

Anyway, a very good 3 points gained today. We didn’t play great but we got the job done.

Think after our run of form, that was a good performance and a great result.

We could have easily won that 3/4-0. Tanto should have scored but thought he actually did well to get a shot away after not the greatest touch, it will come as he gets in the right positions. Kelman though...proper strikers goal, 1 touch out of the body, shot, goal.

TC shown what he is actually capable of, when he runs at players with the ball, he is terrifying.

Special mention to Rob Apter. Thought after the Saints game, his race was run but he showed amazing resolve and shown what he is capable of.

Oxford were poor and think they are bang in trouble.

Norwich will be a tough game and ill take a draw there.

    Nice early present though Chartlon!

No... Number of Yellow Cards has extended to 10-bookings / 2-match ban now
He's basically got to last the season though with no more than 4-bookings at most, as the limit is 37-games now to avoid the 2-match ban

A few saying it was against a poor Oxford side… that’s exactly why it’s the most important team to beat all season. We need to make sure we’re 21st before anything else.

I’m sure our plans are already set but that win will really cement to any players coming in we are a team they can legitimately get behind to stay up and be playing championship football next season.
  • I enjoyed some aspects of Apter's play, but I'm surprised he is getting so much praise. He doesn't have the physical strength to be a true wingback. He was brushed aside by Oxford attackers, especially in the first half.
Rob had a much better second half, and became a much more attacking threat, and his defensive positioning also improved, exemplified by the header away when he found himself having to defend the centre of the penalty area.
So I praise him for trying to fill in an injury riddled position, but defensively he is too lightweight to succeed as an attacking wingback.

Also, I’ve missed the last couple of games before today so not seen our new advertising hoardings in full swing in the dark… does anyone else have a problem with losing the ball in the moving lights or am I just getting old?

Oxford weren't great and offered next to nothing but we had a job to do and did it very well. Some daylight between us and the Dropzone. Mid table here we come!

If Oxford are not relegated this season then those other 2 clubs have had a shocker. If someone had said this was a League One game during that this afternoon then you would have been none the wiser

A much needed 3 points and our first win in 7. An awful game with both sides playing long ball and hoping someone would get a goal, until we rolled the dice with Kelman instead of the ineffective Oloafe and a quality strike from the substitute to give everyone a smile before Christmas

Tough trip to Carrow Road on Friday and anything there would be most welcome

The gulf between the likes of Oxford to Southampton and Middlesbrough is alarming and hopefully the owners can put their hands in their pockets to give the funds to Jones this January and next season if we stay up.

If you get complacent and stand still at this level you will get found out to your cost

Tanto has got himself into great positions, against Ipswich, Coventry and then Oxford today, all virtually 'one on ones', yes he missed, but he's getting into those positions, nothing wrong with his work rate or his understanding of his role in the team. The coaching team and Tanto need to work on his composure in front of goal and putting the ball wide of the goalkeeper in those situations, everybody criticised Anderson's passing in the past, last two games those faults were not there. Coaching does work and Tanto is a work in progress.

Was really impressed with Bree today, and he played like someone who would love to stay at the club, and hopefully the club would like him to stay also, because he is the kind of impressive and forward thinking player we need here...
Maybe whatever injury he may have been carrying is clearing up, his corners were a bit naff though today, don’t know what’s happened there?

The injury he had was a groin injury as you're no doubt aware, and maybe he is still carrying that a bit, which would hamper his crossing, but that didn't hamper his overall approach to the game and the club, which was wholehearted in spades, tremendous player with the right attitude imo...

A big win that and gives us a bit of a buffer.

Thought Apter did well and great to see Kelman get 2 in 2. A win vs either Norwich or Portsmouth will put us in a great position going into the new year

Yes not knocking him as a player, but seems odd to be playing with a groin issue that stops you kicking a ball, I’d imagine there is a fair chance he stays with us, I doubt he gets back into the saints team.

    Confidence will grow from that.

    Leaburn worked so hard.
Jones et al kept them out.
    The midfield took control.
Campbell so dangerous running at tired defenders.
But you don’t win without a finisher.
Hope Kelman now goes on a run.

Ronnie Moore’s already said he’s suspended for Norwich, so you can probably work out the real answer!

TC haters in the mud. Changed the game
Nobody has said they hate TC, if he plays poorly he deserves criticism, the last  couple of games he’s had the kick up the arse he needed and lo and behold he’s become more effective.
He got called 'total dogshit' among many other things a few games ago. There have been plenty on here saying he's L1 quality and complaining that he's not good enough full stop, let's not pretend it's all just been friendly constructive criticism
Nobody is pretending, he deserved the criticism and he’s been dropped to the bench because of it, now he has to prove people wrong and win the place back, if he had done what he has the last couple of games he would get the praise, stop apologising for the fella.

Big win. This is a league can be very unpredictable. Needed that. I thought Leaburn was superb despite some idiotic views from behind me about him. Hope he gets a goal soon. UTA

Tbf most of the criticism I have seen was meant to be constructive. He has had a full on 12 months with no breaks really and it was showing. The frustration from a lot of people is everyone knows what he is capable of but wasn’t showing it so we’re calling for him to be given a break. Not many can argue that he is impacting games from the bench whereas he wasn’t when staring

What’s ds? Dogshit?,  if so agreed, he’s been inconsistent which for a young fella in his position isn’t a surprise. People saying that others hate him is not right though, happy to be corrected but show me a post where someone said they hate him. He divides opinion, but that’s fine.

Godden not mentioned in long list of injured players. Maybe I'm reading too much, but my pessimism/realism still says we might have seen the last of him. Such a shame what has happened there.

In the meantime, Kelman winner at the toolbox? Now I *am* getting carried away!

Tyreece Campbell is this season's Karoy Anderson. Absolutely useless starting games, but an absolute revelation coming on a substitute.

This literally proves the opposite? The ‘haters’ have asked for him to be rested and not start for a while and since that’s been done, his performances have improved and we’ve got a couple results..

The haters were correct, who would have thought it.
Werent you the one who kept a tally of games he went without a goal, saying he wasnt even Championship standard? - Lets not start pretending the "hate" was limited to him becoming an impact player, nor lets pretend the "haters" or the "supporters" are the next coming of Pep.
Always find this "We were right" approach a bit pathetic
Yes but I will also give credit where it’s due- he has been better the last two games.

Doesn’t make him championship standard in my view - 1 goal in 21 games doesn’t either.

He worked a great shooting position today and still hit it off target.

Never doubted his dribbling ability, he just can’t hit a cows arse with a banjo. He’s a winger not a striker.

Why do we need to tarnish a brilliant day for the club with a divisive comment on TC not being called out? Nobody had mentioned TC until then!

You’re exactly right and he’s not a true wingback. He is an out and out winger really but is being played as a wingback because we’re light there. That’s why he’s so much more effective when he’s pushing forward. So, his shortcomings on the defensive side are understandable and the club knows that. He probably was played there today because we have a hectic schedule coming up and Oxford are a weaker side. And he definitely did a job today.
