good lad - my son played against him quite a bit when younger and one of Tanto's best mates, Josh, used to play for my son's team which i was manager of - i rate TC but would be good to see Tanto get a start

Just seen a different angle (more side on) of Gillys goal and hadn't appreciated how good the flick Tanto attempted was. Its absolute class and the keeper does well to save it. The confidence to try that is impressive too. Shame it didn't go in!

You don’t want to see Tanto when he’s angry…

That ‘meg on Klarer in the lead up to the equaliser was absolutely glorious
  • Thought he played all right today.

Not having seen the game, why was Tanto angry?

He had some sort of altercation with their keeper who must have said something to him

He went for a cross, and clattered their Goalkeeper

Both went down, and the 'keeper quickly got up and said something to Tanto who was still on the ground.

Tanto quickly got to his feet, brushed against their 'keeper who decided it was his turn to touch grass

Their keeper got all aggy with him for challenging for a cross and then when he got a tiny reaction, went down under no contact trying to get Tanto in trouble / sent off.

He didn’t like that very much and then went on to have one of his best 15 min spells in a Charlton shirt until he got subbed, including the set up for the equaliser.

TC has some great attributes but don't think heading and bravery are at the top of the list - what tanto lacks in finesse and finishing ability, he appears to make up for in bravery and determination - his best mate used to play for my son's team that i used to manage and was exactly the same - would run through brick walls for the team - the header he went for against the keeper at home a month or so ago was extremely brave and on another day could have seen him badly injured. I think he deserves a run in the team now or at least rotation between the 3 (TC, Leaburn, Tanto)
  • I think I remember reading Stockport fans saying he’d run through brick walls and most of his goals were from his ability to press. Love his attitude, definitely needs to work on his finishing (like all our strikers), but would love a team full of tantos.

For those of us of a certain age, it had a touch of old man Leaburn (sorry, Carl) at the Battle of the Bridge.

Are there still people out there claiming that his finish through the goalie’s legs at Sheff U was an act of precision skill and finesse?

In what world do Strikers never miss chances?
Yes its a concern when they don't hit the target when chances fall to them... But if we expect a Striker to at least hit the target every time, then a lot of people are going to be sorely disappointed.
Funnily thats Olaofe, Leaburn and Campbell who have been named in the last two weeks as having failed to hit the target / score when an opportunity has befallen their way - Carey has gone seven games without a goal now, when do his missed attempts, e.g. from the Olaofe rebound start to get brought up?
I remain convinced that the first touch which forced Tanto to sprint after the ball, and allowed the Goalkeeper to quickly come off his line, making the goal smaller, was what f**ked him over the most

I like him. Gets in the right positions, it’ll come. We don’t get a point at Birmingham last week without him

Big difference there is he had no time to think about what to do, that’s when his finishing is wayward

By the way I like olaofe a Lot, tryer and occupies defenders, and not saying it’s unacceptable him missing some chances

just clearly a really poor finisher as shown at Ipswich, Coventry and yesterday

all of which underline that the claims of his wonderful finish at Sheff U were doggy do-do!

  • Yesterday was probably his worst performance, nothing he did came off and his finish was poor. Having said that I think his work rate is top notch, one of the best in the team and doesn’t hide when things don’t go his way like yesterday. I agree it will come, but in the meantime thank god Kelman is back

Is it that black and white? As said he had less time to think, that was more of an instinctive finish.

He’s obviously not as composed as Godden or Kelman, but that can be worked on.

I’d like to see Kelman and Leaburn get a run as a front two, but Olaofe has a part to play and like them he may improve with time.
  • I appreciate that yesterday was not his best day, but I do think the one-on-one miss is being overplayed. His first touch was pretty good, to get him away from the defender, and he got a strong shot away on target. Yes, he could have made it a lot more difficult for teh goalkeeper, but it was hardly a disaster.

NJ has said that it's the area he needs to improve on. Nothing wrong with anyone else saying he's not a very good finisher at the moment. But at least he hits the target.

I also really like him. He offers a lot and he runs in behind, which stretches teams and gives us space to play. We don't really have another striker like that.

I hope we keep using him in some form and I want to see TC in this finisher role for a while

I don’t personally think his composure can really be worked on or markedly improved but I think he can continue to do the physical role
  • I love Tanto, I’ve nicknamed him the ‘Chaos Monster’

I don’t even think he knows what he’s going to do next!

I thought by his standards, he had a poor match yesterday, his first touch was poor, and he gave the ball away too many times, in his own half!

Hope he can put it behind him, work on his game, and come back stronger.

  • Didn't think the chance was that easy yesterday- the goalkeeper narrowed the target quite a lot. Olaofe is like a miniature Aneke but possibly with less talent.

Not saying he can turn into a 20 goal a season striker, but there are more goals in him than we’ve seen so far. Same with TC, Kelman and Leaburn.

I can give a player the BOD for missing volleys, snapshots, long shots like etc Carey has. Tanto has now had 4 1V1’s at Ipswich Coventry Stevenage and yesterday and not scored 1. Strikers are allowed to miss chances they’re not allowed to miss 4 sitters in a row

Bradley Wright-Phillips was shite at one vs ones
They're "allowed" to miss whatever they want, they're human after all
