It looked to me as if taking that throw made it worseCrispywood said:Jones saying it was ankle ligament damage leaves a recovery timeline very open depending on the severity it can be 6 weeks to the end of the season. Hoping the fact he was able to walk over and take a long throw in before he could continue will mean it’s more likely the former2 -
Ah man, let’s hope it’s not too long.1
-
Medial/deltoid ankle ligament damage is always worse than lateral ligament of the ankle. It’s a much stronger tissue that supports balance and structure more than the outside.
It also is fairly common for the injury to be part of another injury around the same region, such as a small fracture of the bottom of the tibia. It takes a lot for the force to be inverted.
Let’s hope that the scan and specialist today has not come back with too much bad news.
Worse case in ligament isolation is it’s torn bad enough and he requires surgery. That would be at least 3 months, probably more 4/5 months. If he has another injury away from the ligaments, again you’re likely looking at least 3 months.
Best case scenario is it’s a moderate grade 2 that requires a period of immobilisation and gradual therapy. You’re still looking at around 6-8 weeks.
My hope, and complete guess, is that we won’t see Josh until the beginning of December, just after the November international break. I predict he’ll miss around 10 or 11 games.8 -

I don't know why, but it feels that something like this could happen to Josh in every game I see him play. I can't quite work out why though!
Most games Josh Edwards is in the wars. He gives 100% every games and never pulls out of a challenge.
Hopefully this injury is not as serious as it looks.
The left back injury curse that affected Wiggins, Page, Purrington etc does seem to strike the Left back and LWB position more than most.2 -
The gaffer also provided an update on Josh Edwards.
"Josh will probably be out a little bit longer than a few weeks, which is disappointing because he's been in wonderful form.'

devastating this, Edwards one of my favourite players and really encapsulates JonesBall 5 -
I did that recently. Was an absolute nightmare healing, took me 6 months before I could run on it again, though I doubt Josh is going to be at the mercy of the NHS like I wasWeegie Addick said:Just found this from Cawley - quote from NJ:
“He sees a specialist tomorrow (today), so we see where we are. He landed awkwardly and tweaked ligaments on the inside of his ankle, which is a bit of a rare one.”1 -
He's picked up 2 nasty injuries in 2 seasons. I wouldn't want him to lose any intensity but he might need to vary his tempo a little when challenging to avoid these impacts.0

Left wing-back Josh Edwards has undergone surgery on the ankle he injured against Blackburn Rovers.Nathan Jones: “Josh has had a surgical procedure which was the best scenario, because it sped up the process. That will be more weeks than a short-term one.”

Not an article I want to like per se as we all know injuries that require surgery usually end in set backs galore, particularly with our history, but hopefully it's something we don't have to endure in the future with Josh3

Has anyone noticed how our left backs appear to be cursed, I blame Djimi Traore.3
-
Was Corey Gibbs pre or post Traore? The left back rot seemed to start there.....0
-
Pre-Traore... Only by a few months though, Gibbs signed in May 2006, Traore signed in the Augustbrownbear said:Was Corey Gibbs pre or post Traore? The left back rot seemed to start there.....
I presume part of the reason for signing Djimi was because of Cory's injury.1 -
Anyone heard anything on Edwards recovery? Him and Bell are two massive misses.
Seems as though Bell will be back for the Christmas period. Burke likewise in the next couple of games4 -
He’s so key to the way we play and he’s a proper grafter! Hope he’s back by end of January!!3
-
b great to get him back - we miss his energy and aggression badly0
-
Didn’t get a chance to talk to him but saw him walking into the players entrance on Saturday being greeted by staff. No sign of any boot or anything. Had I arrived 10 secs earlier I’d have grabbed him to ask!5

We will never know, but would have loved to have seen what position we'd be in if he (along with Kelman and Bell) hadn't have been injured and missed so many games.4
-
Amazingly, I think we may only have been 1 or 2 points better off, having gained a point at Wrexham and possibly Stoke.stoneroses19 said:We will never know, but would have loved to have seen what position we'd be in if he (along with Kelman and Bell) hadn't have been injured and missed so many games.
From what I've seen, the only teams to have outclassed us are Coventry, Southampton and Middlesbrough. There's not much to choose amongst the rest. If we can get our best team available for most of the second half of the season, whilst adding one or two in January, then there's no reason why we shouldn't be looking at top ten or possibly even the 6th spot.13 -
Whilst I agree Coventry, Southampton, Middlesborough and Stoke are the only teams to properly outclass us, the whole way we set up in games is to be structured and stay competitive, so even though we shouldn’t lose a lot of games based on the play, we also don’t create enough to go how have we not won that game. Which is an absolutely fine way to play with the quality of our team but we shouldn’t even talk about finishing top half let alone top 6 let’s stay up firstqueensland_addick said:

Actually disagree. I think Southampton, although probably the best performance we’ve faced this season tore through us because we had no one decent at lwb and most attacks from middlesboro came down our left. Remember how good gillesphey looked earlier in the season with a good lwb next to him? It’s definitely affected his performances and our overall defensive performances as a result.queensland_addick said:

what was his injury? assume a grade 3 tear of something?RonnieMoore said:Edwards unlikely to be back until end of Feb / March0 -
Kelman’s interview on Cawley’s podcast made it sound like all the injured players are back soon, I’m sure he named them all including Edwards.4
-
He has been missed massively and will make such a difference once he is back. Not sure if Im correct but I think he had a really good injury record prior to joining us and has been out twice now in the last 12 months. Typical CAFC Curse4
-
Lets hope Matty Godden's appointment with the surgeon / consultant goes well - can't remember exactly whether that's today or tomorrow. Goes well and he can start getting properly fit. What a bonus that would be.3

Edwards had ankle surgery in mid-October. At this stage, he and Godden appear to be the only two longer term injuries that have required surgery. He does risk placing his foot in awkward positions when going into tackles at full pelt, so perhaps a slight adjustment to his playing style could help reduce the chance of future ankle problems.0
