On around mid Oct he put a post on his linkedin saying this was his last month at CAFC0

One greedy bastard, there's only on greedy bastard

Should have stayed until the end of the season and guaranteed Godden/Kelman/Burke/Bell/Edwards/Leaburn fitness6 -
Any idea where the good doctor has ended up?
Had a bit of an 'out there' theory on his departure. Did the insistence by Jones on signing Burke after the medical reports sway his decision?
Bell also has a bit of a suspect medical history I believe.0 -
It was more of signing Knibbs, remember the on/off deal around the timing of his medical.carly burn said:Any idea where the good doctor has ended up?

Doubt it’s his job to tell the manager who he should or shouldn’t sign base on medical history, he’s just there to try and keep whoever comes through the door fit. He only finished with us end of October not uncommon for there to be a bit of a wait between finishing one role and taking up anothercarly burn said:Any idea where the good doctor has ended up?

Reckon he's having a nice time off and will be back in a job come Jan0

He would advise the manager and board of any such risks in signing a certain player. It's then down to them to take on the advice or disregard it.Crispywood said:

Same company as Andy Scott.

That's clearly the connection that got Dr Abbott this job.Chunes said:Same company as Andy Scott.1 -
This feels odd.Scoham said:

At Brighton for a long term, takes a bigger role at lower level Charlton and then ends up at a strange network of clubs.1 -
Well it’s clear he wasn’t leaving us on the basis of bigger and better things7

Depends on how you see it, being in a lead role at Charlton is one club, doing the same role but across a number of clubs in a network is technically a step up so probably better paidAFKABartram said:Well it’s clear he wasn’t leaving us on the basis of bigger and better things1 -
Bloke came in gave us one of the worst summer recruitments we’ve ever seen dipped and now taking away our best staff members want to know who made him hate us so muchChunes said:Same company as Andy Scott.2 -
My thoughts exactly. GFP only own stakes in their various clubs so he wouldn't have a hands on role IMHOAFKABartram said:Well it’s clear he wasn’t leaving us on the basis of bigger and better things1 -
He might not want a hands on role anymore. Having people oversee the strategy for a network of clubs is the current trend and very lucrative business. He can probably work from home, with a bit of travel and get paid more than he did hereHenry Irving said:

How do we know he isn't on more money in his new role?AFKABartram said:Well it’s clear he wasn’t leaving us on the basis of bigger and better things
Remember that when he came to us, we were an average league one side.7 -
Misdiagnosis of the Godden injury and opposition to signings of Bell and Burke did for him.
Like Tracey, it's Nathan's way or the highway6 -
Uh, what happened with Tracey that I missed?bolloxbolder said:Misdiagnosis of the Godden injury and opposition to signings of Bell and Burke did for him.

Rich Cawley has added some important info in his coverage of this in his weekly review (subscribers only). He writes:
"He has set up his own company - Strategic Performance Solutions - which provides consultancy services to sporting organisations in Europe and the States."
So I put on my discarded headhunter's cap, and returned to Dr Will's LinkedIn profile. Here we see that he started both roles this month. His role as Founder and Director of his own company is marked as "full-time" whereas his position with GFH is "Head of Performance Services" and crucially is marked as "Contract". From that I infer beyond reasonable doubt that he is not an employee of GFH, it is effectively his client to whom he provides professional services - advantageous tax-wise, but no job security, no pension contribs, etc.
I've seen scenarios like that many times before and in approx 90% of cases it was as a result of the person leaving his previous role in a way which they had not anticipated and planned for. And in maybe 70% of cases the person was eventually offered and accepted a full time role in another company. Relatively few stay the course as "independent consultants" or similar because it was not what they actually wanted to be.
This is not to dismiss the possibility that Will Abbott won't be an exception to the rule. However it only confirms my impression that he did not wish to leave at the time he did; therefore it was avoidable with good people management, and our season has suffered because that people management fell short.

People believe what they choose to believe. Maybe time to move on?2

Bollocks IMO, it wasn't sudden at all but a long, drawn out process of him leaving, news initially broken in September but was here til end of October. Given the way it was handled and both his and the clubs words, this was either discussed way before that time, or he was the one to tell us he was off, and not us breaking the news to him. He was seen as a major coup for the club at the time and I refuse to believe we got to the summer after promotion and said "right that's it, off you fuck"PragueAddick said:Rich Cawley has added some important info in his coverage of this in his weekly review (subscribers only). Not meaning to add to the conspiracy theories but at the time NJ mentioned in a press conference that there had been disagreements with the medical department that week. Did not say what but I’m of the opinion that something went on that caused a bit of friction0

Charlie Kelman was full of praise to those at the club who have helped him get back fit again. It does seem however that both his injury and Godden's seem to have had some kind of misdiagnosis. This sort of thing is more common than you would think though. I don't think there's anything sinister in Will Abott or Tracey Leaburn leaving - people just putting 2 and 2 together and... Burke and Bell had known injury records that needed managing, no probs, if they weren't injury prone and well known to NJ, we wouldn't have got them, they are both top end championship. Millwall on the other hand seem to have an injury crisis as big as the one's we had when Gallen was signing the players - coincidence?0
