Agent Gallen ?DOUCHER said:Charlie Kelman was full of praise to those at the club who have helped him get back fit again. It does seem however that both his injury and Godden's seem to have had some kind of misdiagnosis. This sort of thing is more common than you would think though. I don't think there's anything sinister in Will Abott or Tracey Leaburn leaving - people just putting 2 and 2 together and... Burke and Bell had known injury records that needed managing, no probs, if they weren't injury prone and well known to NJ, we wouldn't have got them, they are both top end championship. Millwall on the other hand seem to have an injury crisis as big as the one's we had when Gallen was signing the players - coincidence?4 -
Or Andy Scott says to him you know I can get you a contract over here and you can double your money ? (Or whatever figures are involved).0

Wouldn't want him spending my money, put it that way - doubt he's on Sandgaard's christmas card list.Fanny Fanackapan said:

Any news on his replacement yet?
We're heading into a pretty critical part of the season. Performance will be key2 -
I find it really odd. All the talk since the owners came in a out getting Championship ready in the back office/staffing side. All the press around Dr Will and his pedigree/successes.carly burn said:Any news on his replacement yet?

Don’t bother is a big assumption. I’m going to give them a modicum of credit and say we’re struggling to find a good replacement but that just highlights he shouldn’t have been allowed to leave/get in a position where he wanted to leaveAthletico Charlton said:

Don't mean to detract the thread but just to plant the idea - Can possibly put the absence of Head of Performance in the same bracket as absence of health and safety (Millwall, and possibly Chelsea games), facilities/ stadium management (toilets/ catering/ over-crowding), and effective fan representation as described by @Fanny Fanackapan recently. Is the missing part a decent CEO/ absence of?

Come on, you know I don't mean not accept his resignation but offer him terms that convince him to staysam3110 said:

I’m not a conspiracy theorist in anyway but I remember just before he left NJ said in a PC that there had been some disagreements with the medical staff that week then shortly after Abbott left. It wouldn’t suprise me if NJ and him had different opinions about players fitness levels to play7
-
I wonder if Godden's injury played a part, which was by all accounts a complete and utter f*ck up of mis-diagnosis, mis-treatment and everything in between3
-
Suspect Adam Coe is doing a lot more, he’s head of Medical, seems someone the players like, think both Lloyd and Kayne thanked him after the play off final.

Abbot decided to leave when we signed Costello - it was comical12

I suppose it’s a possible explanation.WSS said:I wonder if Godden's injury played a part, which was by all accounts a complete and utter f*ck up of mis-diagnosis, mis-treatment and everything in between
It’s hard to know how much impact him leaving has truly had. I could be wrong but I’m fairly confident that everyone that was in at Sparrows Lane doing most of the day to day work like Adam Coe are still there. Having a figurehead in place can be important and so I’d have liked to see Abbott replaced but in the interim I suspect most of the fitness training and rehab schedules remain as they were.
Yes we’ve had injury trouble this season, but we also did last season. Our worst run of last season coincided with the simultaneous injuries of Ramsay and Jones. And we now know Godden was playing through an issue from February onwards.

Realistically as a grown man and a professional you don’t quit a job because your boss does something you don’t agree with. He gets paid to keep the players we do have fit and healthy it doesn’t impact his role or how he does his job day in day out. Anyone who actually thinks he’s left because Jones signed someone who has injury problems is lying to themselves if everyone was fit and healthy he wouldn’t had ever had a job.1
-
Indeed - I always told my boss that if I thought it wrong I’d say so, but if he decided to go ahead, I’d do my best to make it work. And if it didn’t I reserved the right to say “I told you it was a bad idea”.Crispywood said:Realistically as a grown man and a professional you don’t quit a job because your boss does something you don’t agree with. Abbot if annoyed by the signings, then he has to deal with it.understand the budget and if you’re going to get decent championship players on our money, then injuries are going to price them at our level.4
-
Was Jones Abbots boss though? What could happen is a disagreement and Jones forced Abbot out via senior management. I have said it before, it’s Jones way or the highway. jones has been burnt by dissent in previous roles, he will be hyper focused to make sure it does not happen again and he retains ENTIRE control.SomervilleAddick said:

If i were a betting person, Will Abbott and Tracey Leaburn had a focus on the fitness and wellbeing of the players and would argue that they shouldnt play if in doing so it risked further injury.
Jones has winning matched as a priority and would fight for the best players for a match even if injured.Clashes occur, jones is nothing if not chippy. Jones does well, any friction is resolved by others leaving.0 -
I don’t know about Abbott, but Tracey’s departure was nothing to do with your bet and no I can’t say why she left - sorry.Alwaysneil said:If i were a betting person, Will Abbott and Tracey Leaburn had a focus on the fitness and wellbeing of the players and would argue that they shouldnt play if in doing so it risked further injury.

Pure speculation in my part but the medical professionals I work with would absolutely resign on principle if their advice wasn't being listened to. In this case I doubt it would be because we signed injury prone players. But can see a world where the medical advice of "this player needs this much rest then this level of easing in" if that was repeated ignored or overrules then I can see a Doctor thinking their position is untenable.
No idea whats happened. As I said pure speculation. But if there was a fallout much more likely to be about something like that than about signings.7 -
Or more simply he got a better financial offer to go elsewhere? We are not I assume big payers or the great attraction we think we sometimes are.Even backroom staff lose out if the first team get relegated so they always need to prioritise their own financial well being.4

Struggle to accept this as a premise. Situations arise where you walk out and it's the right thing to do. That could be owing to a difference of professional ethics, or standards, or a clash with someone or people from different specialisms, or different parts of a hierarchy if there's no effective resolution. Relationships can break down for all kinds of reasons and sometimes an accumulation of reasons. Sometimes it results in constructive dismissal and that usually involves grown ups and often professionals.1 -
As a matter of interest is Tracey now working for another club?Covered End said:

If it's just a difference of opinion then then that is of course to be expected at times and both parties just agree to differ. You mentioned 'professional', and if something is overruled that fundamentally goes against the standards and ethics of one's profession then that is a good enough reason to quit a job, and from a professional perspective there is little choice other than to do that.Crispywood said:Realistically as a grown man and a professional you don’t quit a job because your boss does something you don’t agree with. His LinkedIn profile screams of someone who left his role at a time and in avalleynick66 said:Or more simply he got a better financial offer to go elsewhere? We are not I assume big payers or the great attraction we think we sometimes are.Even backroom staff lose out if the first team get relegated so they always need to prioritise their own financial well being.
manner he did not expect. Based on 26 years of experience I would be 90% confident I am right on that part; then when looking at his new role and the fact that he has set up his own consultancy and has a contractor relationship with the new company, I am 70% sure that this new situation is not his ideal choice.
i agree with @cantersaddick about the nature of any dispute but on that aspect I am just a punter like most of us here.2 -
I'm not certain and she doesn't want it discussed, but yes she has another job and it is to do with football.Starinnaddick said:

An enhanced financial offer can arrive at any time and didn’t someone suggest Andy Scott is involved somewhere who would have been an influence / know what it might take to tempt him away?
Pure speculation.0
