Hi Everyone, and welcome to Boxing Day, hopefully all that turkey, pud and copious mince pies have left you fit to travel, and room to try one of Delia's pies…

Today, it's a trip over to Carrow Road and another six pointer game, this time it's Norwich City in our way, they find themselves in 23rd spot on 18 points, but have seen an upturn in form recently following the appointment of Phillippe Clement last month, and drew 1-1 at Preston last weekend so will no doubt give us a game today, but rather like Oxford, they need sending home pointless if possible while we hit the 30 mark…

Was good to see Kelman on Saturday, and Nathan revealed this week that a number of the injured are close, Godden (remember him..) hasn't been available this season, while Bell and Edwards are likely to be the furthest away, Burke and Hernández have been on the sidelines in recent weeks.

Sargent is expected to return for the hosts, though Duffy, Schlupp, Amadou Diallo, Topić, Forsyth, Forson, and Crnac are all sidelined.

We've gone toe-to-toe on 82 occasions, winning 34, the Canaries winning 29 and the remaining 19 encounters ending in draws, we last met in the FA Cup in January 2020, when Norwich ran out 1-0 victors at The Valley.

We'll be sporting our "popular" charcoal third kit (what's the problem with red?)

Team…Amari’i Bell returns to the Addicks’ side today, while Keenan Gough makes his full debut as Nathan makes two changes…

Bell hasn’t featured since limping off against Coventry City last month, while 19-year-old Gough played his first Championship minutes as a substitute in Charlton’s win at the weekend. The duo replace Kayne Ramsay, who limped off on Saturday, and Rob Apter who moves to the bench, Reece Burke is also named on the bench

Gough, captain Lloyd Jones and Macaulay Gillesphey make up the back three in front of goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski.

James Bree and Bell are likely to operate as wing backs alongside midfield trio Sonny Carey, Conor Coventry and Karoy Anderson. Miles Leaburn and Tanto Olaofe once again start up front.

Burke and Apter are joined on the bench by Will Mannion, Joe Rankin-Costello, Greg Docherty, Luke Berry, Harvey Knibbs, Tyreece Campbell and Saturday’s match-winner Charlie Kelman.

Charlton: Kaminski; Gough, Jones (c), Gillesphey; Bree, Carey, Coventry, Anderson, Bell; Leaburn, Olaofe

Subs: Mannion, Burke, Rankin-Costello, Docherty, Berry, Knibbs, Apter, Campbell, Kelman

A good performance will do a lot for our confidence. Would love a draw but tbh that’s hope more than expectation. Team selection today will be interesting

We DESERVE the three points today for my stressful sacrifice!!
  • Cawley has tweeted confirming that Burke and Bell have travelled... Not sure where they've gone though
  • I've got family coming to our place so Xmas lunch for 8 coming up.
The boss tells me not to watch the game or else!
    I'll sneak a look though.
Respect to all you addicts making the trip.

He’s since said he didn’t see Ramsay get off the coach.

Will be interesting if Gough/Laq start, we change formation or Burke/Bell go straight in.

I think I'd prefer to risk Gough, than Burke or Bell from the start, its one game and could lose those two returning for longer than one match if we're not careful

Massive day for Gough. Good to see Bell back, hopefully he can last 60 mins
  • Typical. Bell comes back just as Ramsay goes out. So so close to getting the perfect defence.

Hopefully it’s just being ultra cautious and Kayne is back next game
  • Hello Darling
  • Big test for Gough, NJ obviously trusts in him, Nice to see Burke was being straight up with info that he and Bell were ready on the junior Addicks Christmas party. COYR!!

I can’t see Josh Sargent on Norwich lineup.  Will be massive if he can’t play.

Think I might have preferred Bell at LCB to protect his hamstrings and Apter at LWB given Bree is a defender on the other side but given Gough is getting thrown in I can see why Jones has gone for more solidity and consistency there. Kelman and Campbell to come off the bench and Burke there just in case is a nice spot to be in though

Strange lineup given NJ said Bell's injury was partly down to him playing wingback, so let's bring him in at wingback? Maybe the idea is to give him a bit of a run about then bring TC on.
Lots of attacking options on the bench.

Hope Gough has a good game, but with the available options surely a back 4, 4-3-3 with Apter and TC on the wings would have been a better option?

Not even in the squad. Jovan Makama who they signed from Lincoln in the summer starts over £7m Danish international Matias Kvistgaarden.

He’s been out of the squad with injury the last couple of matches where they’ve picked up decent results.

Think Makama has been on fire

We have no one else suited to that role though. With Gough making his first start we've opted for the player with a bit of experience and more defensive solidity there.

Downside to either way. NJ will give chances to academy players, and switching to a formation we don’t usually play might cause issues.

Our strikers are all better in a partnership as well.

Glad Bell is back, but I'm not glad he's straight into the XI, however needs must I guess with Ramsay out.

A back 3 of Gough, Jones and Gillesphey fills me with dread, I'd rather Bell was thrown back in to be in the back line rather than out at LWB
