He can be proud of himself today. Looked composed and not out of place at all.4
-
Lets hide him and fullah away! Until we are good2
-
Got outpaced a couple of times today but thought he did really well. A great prospect. Prepared to surge forward and looked good when doing so. Like him a lot from his two 1st team appearances.4
-
We've seen recently why Southampton were happy to loan him out2

There was a moment on 40 minutes where he misread the game and got caught behind Makama with Norwich breaking out wide. But it was happening behind the ref's back, so Gough grabbed Makama and pulled him back. Makama wasn't happy but it was an impressive use of the dark arts for a youngster making his debut.12

Just got back from Norwich, and I thought Gough did really well.6

Really good. Definitely able to fill in for the odd game here and there. Can see why he’s captain of the U21s. Knew when to step in and try and win the ball. Looked knackered towards the end of the game but he’s short of match sharpness as he’s not been playing for the 21s whilst with the first team. Looks more comfortable than Fijian Josh but has size on his side.Saw him in a curry house in Maidstone at the start of of the season… don’t know why that’s relevant. It’s not…1

Think this was what he was best at, defending on the front foot and stepping in. A couple of times he looked more vulnerable when he had to run the other away. Overall a very encouraging debutRugbyAddick said:Really good. Definitely able to fill in for the odd game here and there. Can see why he’s captain of the U21s. From Cawley’s latest article:
He was top for defensive contributions and interceptions as well as joint first for most tackles and passes into the final third.

So he presumably likes Tikka-taka football?RugbyAddick said:Saw him in a curry house in Maidstone at the start of of the season… don’t know why that’s relevant. It’s not…5 -

Did very well yesterday, but I hope we don’t put too much on him too soon. He still needs (a lot) of time to develop and we need to manage that development properly.6
-
A few more performances like that and we'll definitely see bigger fish interested. Would like to hang on to him and Fullah, they look very promising.1
-
Been our best right centre-half these past few months when he’s played.2
-
Yeah he's been punished for being a good player, can't have this in the side at the momentCafcSteve said:Been our best right centre-half these past few months when he’s played.0 -
More recently until the 1st XI hed been a CDM. Puzzling that Coventry was dropped and neither him or Zach were tried there.0
-
Solid defensively, good on the ball and can pick a pass, so naturally he’s been taken out of the match day squad2
-
He should have besn in the team saturday as ramsey is regressing fast and lacked any passion for the fight. Gough will bring passion and some stabilty on that side which we need big time.1
-
Another one that came in, played well, got dropped.0
-
Should have been stayed the squad for match days. LJ could have mentored the lad.
Shame when NJ comes out with we have to protect the players. If he has the ability then play him, no it's or buts!
There are players in the top 3 divisions who are showing their worth, as the same we did with Joe Gomez!0 -
Still baffled as to why he wasn't brought on against Blackburn. Burke gets injured so we move Bell to RCB instead. Another one for the strange decisions list. The Red Robin said:Another one that came in, played well, got dropped.7 -

Jones has arguably been too loyal to senior players at times. Bringing on Godden on Saturday over Leaburn, Berry getting a run of starts, Fullah not playing for a while after Birmingham etc. Gough not coming on at Blackburn was just another example.Talal said:

I’m sorry but if that Millwall striker was bullying Ramsay then Gough would have been no better. Could have been a real setback in confidence playing in a game like that and strugglingCrowbarcafc said:He should have besn in the team saturday as ramsey is regressing fast and lacked any passion for the fight. Burke should have started but unfortunately he can’t start 2 games in a week2 -
Is he related to Conor Gough, I remember he was a youth player here a while ago?1
-
Here we go again. One of our youth players is decent for 15 minutes of playing time and now he should be either starting or one of the first players off the bench according to our fans. It is too small a sample size to judge how good he is going to be yet. Has Charlie Barker. Deji, Richard Chin etc taught us nothing? There is a proper progression for a youth player and throwing him into a relegation battle without having played in any of the lower levels is generally not advisable. Loans, cup games and then slow introduction to the first team9

He will learn nothing on the bench beng protected. Get him in (looks capable enough) or on loan to league 1
pointless him and fullah on the bench0 -
Gough looks promising.
Playing him against one of the most physical strikers in the Championship in Josh Coburn would have been utterly mental.3 -
Have to agree with Athletico and Naby here. I thought Gough looked alright against Pompey, but it's a whole other kettle of fish against Josh Coburn and potentially Neghli. I know both Burke and Ramsay had off days, but to start Gough over the two of them would have been mental.
Hopefully Saturday was the nadir for Ramsay and Burke. On their day they're two very good RCB options. Unfortunately, both are working their way back from injury and in Ramsay's case he's looked poor since he did his calf/hamstring.
I said at the time that I thought Gough looked promising, and that I hope we don't have to see him again this season. It'll be interesting to see where he ranks versus Zach Mitchell, and if Gough is allowed to go out on loan given Mitchell can't. Think it would be good for his development to play week in and week out. He looked a bit ropey defending facing his own goal, scuffed a clearance or two and looked a bit nervy defending overall. Still, the future is bright, I just hope Ramsay and Burke stay fit and in form so that Gough is needed in the future, not the present.2 -
Agree re Gough, re Fullah I think he has enough that he can potentially impact the last 20-30 minutes of games AND we've just lost Knibbs to injury so I expect Ibby will stick around. Next season might be the loan season for Fullah. He looked lost on Saturday, though he wasn't the only one. But it didn't feel like a game for him to play 45 minutes in, thought Jones got that substitution (and ensuing formation change) wrong.2121 said:He will learn nothing on the bench beng protected.
