Any left footed centre backs or marauding wing backs in League 1 that could make the step up? Reckon that's more our market tbh
Or in Scotland? I've heard Calvin Charlton (great name) has another scout up there working under him, so definitely a market we're looking at.

There’s some decent options in Conway, Mills and Bagan which would suit our system and the type of profile we would want but question is would we willingly spend a big fee in the more expensive window on a player we know is 100% going to play deputy to Edwards when he’s fit.

Hope he'll be more than happy in Haggis Land, what was the point of your post Ronald..

Decent youngster doing well at Wimbledon in the wing back role, gets up and down and good attacking threat, I’d take a look at him but probably out of our budget!
I wonder why he wasn't called up for the African Nations.

Spurs are highly likely to recall Jamie Donley from his loan spell at Stoke next week…& send him straight back out on loan to a club he can get games at.

Hopefully he comes to us in light of how well he worked with Kelman at Orient last year.

Not sure if it’s possible to play on loan for two sides in the same division in the same season though. Hopefully it is as we very much need a new midfielder to play alongside Carey & Coventry.

You can play on loan for two teams in the same division, you can't play for more than two sides in the same season.  It happened to us with Conor Gallagher when Chelsea recalled him and sent him to Swansea.

This would be a good move if we can make it happen. Slight concern he's not played since the end of October but has been on the bench a lot

He’s been fit but Stoke have been better than anyone could have reasonably thought so instead of a mid table loan he’s had a top end loan which is a big leap
  • Think we need a big window again to help keep us up otherwise it could be closer and harder than we all hope

    we need

    wingbacks
midfielder who can run with the ball and can create
strong hold up striker as we have none!

Please sign some good fullbacks. It’s the root of all problems in this side right now

Liverpool are yet to decide whether to allow 18-year-old England Under-20s midfielder Trey Nyoni to leave the club during the January transfer window, but are holding talks with Premier League and Championship clubs. (Teamtalk, external)‘

wouldnt mind a loan for him
  • Not sure an 18 year old with little experience is the answer for a relegation battle and all the pressure it brings.

Considering we have 4 attacking midfielders doubt we go anywhere near Donley. Ideally we need a proper 8 that can do a bit of everything as Docherty and Anderson don’t seem to have taken the league by storm
  • Presumably whoever we do sign will be a better reflection of Phil Chapple’s input / networking ?

Im not convinced he had enough time to influence all the summer activity and current make up of the squad.

I think we need 4/5 through the door and not just squad players (not going to happen I know) but we desperately need a striker, WB, and a couple of forward thinking midfielders that can drive forward with the ball
  • Can’t see more than two players coming in.

Performances like yesterday's, especially in defence and midfield, just make obvious the need for fresh faces.
Defence is OK though creaks at times, keeper is good, but players like Anderson, Leaburn, Tanto, Docherty, all try hard but just do not have what's needed at this level
I agree with most that there will not be a lot spent, BUT we need 'refreshing' in order to make sure we can stay in this division, as another relegation would be near catastrophic

Donley would be perfect signing for us. Runs with the ball, creates, scores and is getable.

To survive we need 3 new players.

A solid LWB, a box to box CM and a target man ST

To actually upgrade and push on we need 6 IMO.

Adding a progressive RWB, a left footed CB and a tough tackling DM

That way we have competition in all places, can actually rest some players and maybe ship out a couple of decent pros that haven't quite made the step up with us.

  • One or two only I think,  that either don't know Jones already and/or have been positively sold on him and our staff being good to work with/for. Can't believe there will be any more than a couple in that category. And any more than that risks squad disruption. I think we have a good but fairly fragile team spirit presently and need to preserve that.

Everyone seems to be describing ioe aribo (type player), shame we cant afford to bring him home!

Will surely be Bree + LWB and thats it
  • Considering we only have 1 wingback position on each side (with Bree deal ending in Jan) a pair of wingbacks is the minimum, any more than that will probably depend on outgoings, but ideally a Box-Box mid and a Target No.9 are massive areas of weakness

It wouldn’t suprise me if 2 or 3 left in January you can’t add to a squad without losing some as well.

Gillesphey, AMB and one of the summer signings perhaps? JRC seems to be the forgotten man of the squad, could see him off in Jan, at least on loan? I'd also expect Hernandez and Roussillon to be off, that frees up a small amount of wages and a squad space

He had some Northern Ireland minutes in November.
