Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool have been playing in the ATP Finals in Turin.

The finals comprise the top 8 singles players (no British interest given Draper's injury) and the top 8 doubles pairs.

They play a round robin (bit like World Cup or Euros groups in football) comprising 2 groups of 4 each. The top 2 in each group proceed to the semi finals.

Cash and Glasspool won 2 of their 3 round robin matches so will participate in the semi finals.

Joe Salisbury and Neil Skupski have played and won their first two matches (in the other group) so should also reach the semi finals regardless of the result of their third round robin match tomorrow.

An all British doubles pair has never won this tournament could this be the year? Cash and Glasspool will finish the season as the World number 1 doubles pair regardless of what else happens in the remainder of the tournament so perhaps there is a chance.

Incidentally Cash and Glasspool are the first all British team to be ranked World number 1 doubles pair.

Joe Salisbury and Neil Skupski won the all British semi final against Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool. 6-7 (3-7) 6-3, 10-8 earlier today.

In the final tomorrow they will play Harri Helioevarra and GB's Henry Patten.

Seem to be far better at doubles than singles in the UK. Doubles seems to have a far lower profile in modern tennis.

Why are Salisbury and Skupski splitting up? Doing very well

The United? Cup isn't mentioned, but I assume he won't play that either as not going to Australia? Is Who is replacing him and is Raducanu playing?
  • Just turned on the TV didn't even realise this was happening but battle of the sexes part two is on today. Just an exhibition match of course. 90 million people watched the first one with Billie Jean king.
  • What an atmosphere!

Bit poor that her court side is smaller.

It's the equivalent of a handicap horse race and appears to be correct from that point of view on making it an even contest.
This is bizarre but we live in a time when a professional ex Heavyweight champion like Joshua fought and beat up Middle weight influencer Paul.
That was dangerous and a total farce.

I hope money is going to Charity for this bizarre match up.
The one serve rule makes it interesting but the two different court size is weird on the eyes !

    No.

Exhibition & entertainment.   And billed as such.

COVID lockdowns reminded me that everything we do is a distraction from just doing nothing.   Which is the default/alternative.    We make our own distractions to cure the boredom of pure existence.

People put their own importance on every hobby, pastime, career, etc.

The Universe will not remember any of this in 100,000 years time, yet alone 1 million.

So I'm going to watch this silly tennis game..

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year!

Biology was the winner, as it is in most sports other than horse racing when gifted females Jockeys like Hollie Doyle on the flat and Rachael Blackmore over the Jumps could compete when given the rides.
