    Thankfully Ricky Evans is out

    well played young Charlie Manby
  • Why was Littler getting booed big time tonight, what’s he said to upset the fans?
  • Think they were just supporting the underdog in traditional British fashion
  • Not sure that Littler interview is going to do him any favours.

    Phil Taylor effect I'm afraid.
Knew it would happen, but didn't think it would be this soon..
He will be the most hated person in sport in a year or two purely because he's so good and his profession.
He could have decades of this!!

I've always liked him, but Littler came across as a complete prick in that interview

To be fair he seems like someone who hasn't quite calmed his thoughts from the match, with the adrenaline still pumping... Either way he's free to react to the booing how he wants, if people dont like it.. Don't boo in the first place
  • I think we forget he's an 18 year old kid.

I don't think he comes across well at times - has a bit of an ego (can't really blame him), and doesn't react brilliantly to losing or not being the crowd favourite, like the World Cup of darts when he stomped off, but he's not going to be a fully rounded mature individual yet.

If he's still petulant etc in a few years then I'll change my mind!!
  • He's a jumped up prikc but to be fair to him hes walked the walk all year so has the right to have a pop if he wants to. Will be interesting to see how the crowd reacts to him in the next game.

  • He was very red in the face - might need to get his blood pressure checked.

Doesn't always work that way though - look at tennis, people still really liked Federer and then Nadal when they were winning all the time, just not Djokovic - and it's because Djokovic had the same sort of attitude Littler had tonight, expecting the crowd to always be on his side because he's great at the sport.

I get that darts and tennis crowds aren't the same, but people don't always take against the serial winners.

And Phil Taylor - as a player, the best, as a man....

Love to see the likes of Ryan Searle win it, would be good to see a fresh face as in virgin winner for a change.

That interview last night could be a turning point for him - don't see the crowd forgetting it for the rest of this tournament

Think of the stick he would be getting if Kier Starmer resigned

The thing is it is all about maturity.
As you get older, you would simply laugh at a bunch of blokes dressed as sausages giving it large, and take it for what it is.
A group of pissed up blokes out to get a raise, which it would appear, they did.

I don't think the boos were 'anti Littler'
The crowd just wanted the match to go on, as they were both in cracking form the last couple of sets

but for some reason, he took it badly and gave it to them when he hit the winning darts

then the interview after, just went into car crash mode

Did make me laugh when Mardle was trying to reference it, afterwards in the studio, and quickly got shut down by Polly

Showing a bit of bite and a bit of personality and giving it back... I like it. He is going to get untold stick from the crowd in every match now, but if he continues to walk the walk, which he probably will, by all means give it back, he's world number 1 at age 18

His walk on yesterday hahahaha.  Like...erm... I don't know what to think tbh lol
  • I can perfectly understand Littler's reaction but in hindsight he'll probably regret it as now the crowds will just give him even more stick unless he's playing against a foreign player.

Thought MVG came across as a bigger prick claiming ‘he wasn’t in a match’. If the crowd give it then they can expect some back, but disrespecting your opponent looks worse imo.

From what I’ve seen from Littler when he’s on tv, is that he’s nervous and he’s not the brightest lad, so think he just leads with emotion at times like that.
  • Never been a fan i am afraid, he doesn't come across well. However the same with most of the best in the business, you will often get as many haters as those who support him, look at Ronnie for example. He copes with it pretty well in the moment for now so just keep what he's doing.

Still think Luke H is the only one who can really beat him over this distance from now, Cross played ok but was a bit loose in key moments but gave it a good go. Potentially Van Veen too but still more than likely LL will win again which is impressive, i'm sure he wont mind while he is winning not having all the fans.

gloating about the fans paying his winnings is never gonna be a good look.

he'll get pelters for the rest of the tournament now, wouldn't be surprised if Sky air a 'damage limitation' interview with him today apologising etc

He's 17 or 18 years old and hardly told them all to fuck off. He gave a tiny bit back which is fair enough. Football fans are the worst for getting precious about someone giving it back.
  • all this, he is only 18... still if he comes across a cocky little prick people don't have to like him, its irrelevant. It's not a big deal, hes hasn't done anything major wrong but still comes across a helmet, age is irrelevant although he might be more likeable in future

3-0 up on Josh Rock having hit 9/9 doubles.

    Mental!

EDIT: And he seemed to be willing Josh to hit the bull for a 167 checkout in that third set! The bloke is a couple of flights short of a dart set but he's entertaining! ... And now made it 10/10 on doubles!
  • After hitting 11 out of 11, Justin Hood misses a dart at double 16 for a 147 to win the match ... and then failed with his next visit to close it out, losing the leg in the process. All poor old Josh Rock could was laugh at the ridiculousness of it all.

He eventually closed out the final set 3-1 to win the match 4-0 against the no 11 seed.

To borrow a word from MVG: "phenomenal"

Justin hood incredible performance. Fair play to Josh Rock great sportsmanship. Without knowing the draw love him and searle in the final.
