Are there any PL players on loan in L1 doing so well they could be recalled and tried out in the Championship? That way they would be fit, ready to go and have a chance. I guess that may make sense?
Are there players overseas who's contracts have run out (like Fukuda), again maybe a bargain or two to be had there.
But both obviously risky.
As others have said, it's a really tough market to get the right addition at the right price. But that's where we are and we have to do business.0 -
So the getting injured and limping off is part of a wider conspiracy 🤔The Red Robin said:I wonder if Ramsay may be off. Not sure I buy the ‘hamstring’ injury.3 -
At least NJ has said we need a good window, so stuff will happen.4
-
There will be players available on loan who can improve us. It's whether we have the wherewithal to get them in.1
-
No idea if any are any good but the following are all Championship defenders with contracts up in the summer from teams without parachute payments, and rated amongst the most valuable of that category on Transfermarkt, without being injured...!
Max Lowe, Sheffield Weds.
Haydon Roberts, Bristol City
Brandon Williams, Hull
Liam Morrison, QPR
Brad Potts, Preston
James Morris, Watford.
In addition Campbell, Coventry, Ramsey and Jones all enter the last years of their contracts in summer '26 so we need to get ahead of the game on renewals for them (whatever division we are in).4 -
Wasn't Haydon Roberts mentioned in the summer as a target on here? Ex Brighton academy who can also play LB.2

Even if I were a billionaire, I wouldn't give Nathan Jones a substantial sum to spend. I would not give him final control over whom to sign. We have picked up some decent players on the cheap, but proved hopeless with the bigger money signings.Crispywood said:Couldn’t care less if it’s loans or fees, Jones has actually proved he’s better at transfers when working on frees and loans rather than having money to spend. Need to get some players in where we know what to expect rather than more wildcards hope we can bring 4 new players in

Ramsay was at the junior Addick's Christmas party and seemed fine. He was asked by the person next to me if his injury was long term. Ramsay said that it was a calf issue and he wouldn't be back for a few weeks.Crispywood said:

Lot is going to depend on how wide the club’s scouting is. Most championship teams have squads full of non British players, which would appear a key to success.1
-
BBC have done a piece on every championship side and reckon we need a LCB who can play LWB, an energetic CM who can tackle and a target man ST15

Anyone else see the fella in a full BURNLEY team coat last night in the away end?2
-
I got the impression with when the team was announced that when it came to midfield and 'attack', selection was by lottery, pulling the numbers from a hat.
Secondly, I suspect that Nathan, good manager when things are going OK, is a bundle of nerves under serious pressure, AND that that reflects on the players. A man keeping plasters/bandages on his fingers so that he can chew them off to relieve his stress is not a good look to encourage his players.
Anyway, enough slating of Nathan, who is what he is.
The squad is not good enough. Too many players too prone to injury, lack of skill and confidence, pace, aggression etc etc all these faults have been analysed infinitum on this site, we know what we need, getting the players who can deliver to satisfy our needs is THE issue of course
Easy cop out answer ..
It all depends i m o on the amount of money the owners are prepared to spend this January, AND (of course) how that money, if any, is spent
Panic and/or bargain basement signings will not do it our survival as a Championship club though. Our fate will be in the hands of the money men and the management
We cannot rely on the struggling clubs around us to keep dropping points to preserve our future1 -
I did, was wearing the number 57. No clue who he was. A youngster?21cws said:Anyone else see the fella in a full BURNLEY team coat last night in the away end?0 -
I knew getting that new screen was a mistake, obviously coded message sent disguised as Valley Gold lottery winners.Scoham said:
You sure a bid wasn't accepted during the second half of the Oxford game and a note passed to Ramsay?Crispywood said:

Ok, we'll get out the magic wand instead and get Godden, Edwards & Ramsay fit for the start of January.RonnieMoore said:
We need our injured back fully fit … that’s more important , Jan not the time to spend money you pay way over the odds for average players .. couple loans and couple of perm deals that will be all i expect .. left wing back and someone to create chances …DamoNorthStand said:Gonna need to go big in January. No hiding from it as we will be bang in trouble otherwise.
I can't believe no one had thought of that option.
Thanks.1 -
So the ice pack strapped to his leg (admittedly I think was his calf) was all part of the cunning plan.Todds_right_hook said:

Mind you it worked, it caught everyone else out and we all fell for it.1 -
I'd rather recall Kanu than opt for a young Prem loanee. At least with Kanu you know what you are going to get & he's bang in form.Athletico Charlton said:Are there any PL players on loan in L1 doing so well they could be recalled and tried out in the Championship? Burnley 57 is Jaidon Anthony. Can safely say he won’t be joining us! 18 games in the Premier League this season.cafc-4-life said:

The only U21 I can find with a similar squad number is Ellis Clarke. Number 47. Ex Aberdeen. Ginger haired midfielder.0 -

Yeah I tried looking last night for a number 57. But it was 100% that number, so could be like some of our youth who have not played for the first team but train with them get a number on their kits. Still wouldn't excite me if that's the case.Clem_Snide said:

No 57 in the Burnley squad from what I can find, unless they've assigned squad numbers to under 21s that aren't on the websites anywhere0

According to a local newspaper in Kyoto, Shinnosuke Fukuda is set to extend his contract with Kyoto Sanga. The game is over.1

Doesn’t explicitly name Charlton but thought worth posting
He plays the TC role for Barnsley: left winger who cuts in on his right foot. 5 goals and 6 assists from 16 games (11 starts) this season.4 -
Honestly, who would buy him?The Red Robin said:I wonder if Ramsay may be off. Not sure I buy the ‘hamstring’ injury.1 -
He’s progressed very quickly, only 21 and first half of last season had a failed loan with Walsall in L2 where he only made 3 sub apps in the league.Callumcafc said:https://x.com/roversxtra/status/2005974414224154892?s=46&t=ynww82GMl7VKBjthBflU0g

Second half of the season dropped down to Hartlepool in the NL and scored 6 in 18 league starts (plus 2 sub apps).
Joined Barnsley permanently in the summer from WBA.

The time for the serious budget was the summer transfer period, not now.MarcusH26 said:I just hope there's a serious budget to go and get 3-4 quality players , not Prem U21 kids on their first loan in this situation.
