Nice to see acknowledgement there of the lack of football for WSL2 teams compared with the top teams. It certainly seems both feasible and a good idea to have 6 games in the revamped competition rather than the 3 or 4 currently.
It'll also be an interesting test case for whether removing the top teams from a competition does any harm to its credibility.0 -

Why can't they play games in midweek? Also the league season is only 22 games so it's not as if they play too many games.0 -
Academy contracts for young players at Women's Super League (WSL) and WSL2 clubs will be introduced for the first time from the start of the 2026-27 season.Current rules prohibit English women's professional teams from contracting a 16-year-old player to a full-time contract.This will change from next season, with clubs able to offer players up to a two-year deal. They will not be mandatory, and clubs can continue to offer scholarships to promising young players.
