Would/Could You Ever Stop Supporting Charlton?

If so, under what circumstances?

What would make you stop?

No could never stop me supporting them... However I am not their biggest Fan at the moment.
  • I'd love to. Unfortunately I can't.

Even then, no. I'd support AFC Charlton...
  • No never.......however thinking about giving it a rest at the moment.....currnent climate, time of the year, travel time, and the way we are playing starting to think money could be spent elsewhere a bit more wisely
  • If we left South London to play somewhere else I would.

Remember back in the '70's they seriously considered moving away from London to Welwyn Garden City (I think), would you still support Charlton if that happened now?

was once asked by a friend of my then wife..." if you had to choose between Charlton and D*****e, who would you choose?" I stated the obvious and a year later we got divorced (that was 12 yrs ago)

Charlton has been, since the back end of 1962, and always will be the first result I look for even when not regularly attending during our period of exile or only seeing a limited number of home matches when I played sport myself on Saturdays.

So to answer your question no I don't think so.

If the first team squad broke into my house and smashed up the place I would have to rethink my support if only to keep the wife quiet.

although given current form they would turn up and try chucking bricks through the window to gain entry and spend several hours bounching them off the wall/next door//passing cars whilst Mcleod wandered round the garden in a huff elbowing the large stone duck we have when he thought nobody was looking.
  • i recently missed only my second league home match (huddersfield) since our return to the valley.

despite the reports of a good attacking game, i can honestly say that i wasn't bothered about missing it.

i'd always support charlton, but as for attending matches regularly, it's the 'not seeing my football mates before and after the game' that i would miss more than the football.
  • Charlton will always be my club but missing games certainly doesn't bother me any more.

Simply fact is I've got older and my priorities have changed.

Not a chance, never, no way ... ridiculous question ... although judging by some of the comments on this board over the last couple of days, I see where you're coming from.

Been going since the 60's and long may it continue.

Only in extreme circumstances could anyone ever consider stopping supporting a club, if they did well they were never a real fan in the first place.

However, there are a thousand reasons why someone would stop actively supporting a club.

so you'd be AFC Charlton not Ashford Addicks?

I think this may be a dilema for most of us, not that I thing it's going to happen (Please, no moving to Ashford threads, thank you)

Same here. Still love the club as much as ever but struggle with other commitments/interests to make more than 15 games a season.

No..i'm in it for the long run death do us part and all that :)
  • Charlton will always be my one and only Club so I couldn't support anyone else.

That's not to say that I won't stop supporting them financially if they don't do the right thing so far as the McLeod elbow is concerned.
