Five Great Matches v Chelsea
11 April 1977 Easter Monday. 4-0 We took them apart. Then some Chelsea fans tried to take the Valley apart.
7 May 1988. The Battle of Stamford Bridge. Only a 1-1 draw but it kept us out of the relegation play-off and at the same time put Chelsea into it.
Boxing Day 2003. 4-2. A great performance from Charlton in a season that remains our highest ever Premier league finish.
5 March 1983. 5-2. A classic from the old 2nd division, Allan Simonsen at his best for Charlton we finished 17th that season but still above Chelsea. (yes Chelsea fans you were s**t one time)
26 October 2005. A League cup match, 1-1 we won 5-4 on penalties though which Mourinho took umbridge about.
And one I would like to forget.
Almost exactly 23 years ago 11 January 2003. The day the Chelsea pitch was turned into a sandy beach and we also had to pay an extortionate £30 for the privilege.

The Boxing Day 4-2 was one of the two standout performances in my lifetime (Arsenal away in same era)14

Battle of the bridge just pips it for me …. One of my first big away days . Scary journey home1

There was about three seasons in a row we won one nil at The Bridge, think Lisbie scored the winner in two of them.3

The 3-0 in 1989, with the Mortimer screamer.12

I think Chelsea wins that debate, the Arsenal game we were bossed for a lot of it and it was more of a superbly executed smash and grab - the Boxing Day game we genuinely completely outclassed the richest football club in the worldAFKABartram said:The Boxing Day 4-2 was one of the two standout performances in my lifetime (Arsenal away in same era)10 -
A guy I worked with was good friends with Paul Williams, who told him that after he scored his 2nd goal, Graham Roberts said to him “if you get a hat trick I’ll break your fucking leg”Er_Be_Ab_Pl_Wo_Wo_Ch said:The 3-0 in 1989, with the Mortimer screamer.2 -
My first Charlton game as an adult. Was at University at the time, and took a couple of mates along for their first ever game. Quite a baptism for themholyjo said:Battle of the bridge just pips it for me …. One of my first big away days . Scary journey home

A small number of us who stayed behind after the 1-0 Chelsea win at the Bridge in 2005 saw the league winners lift the trophy for the first time in 50 years. Probably the only time we'll see a PL trophy lift!0

My favourite was Chelsea 2 Charlton 3 on 27 December 1975. I watched from The Shed and somehow escaped alive.3

Did Shaun Bartlett score at the Beidge and we won 1-00

That 4-0 with Flash Flanagan's hat-trick against a side that included Ray Wilkins will live long in the memory as will, unfortunately, Chelsea's pathetic attempt at burning the place down. The crowd that day will probably be very close to that of today.0

Also my favorite Derek Hales 2 and Phil Warmen.Weegie Addick said:My favourite was Chelsea 2 Charlton 3 on 27 December 1975. I watched from The Shed and somehow escaped alive.2 -

Yes, Cudiccini (SP?) spilled it I think and Bartlett put it away.walshiesleftfoot said:Did Shaun Bartlett score at the Beidge and we won 1-00 -
He'd have had a fucking job catching him - the only time Roberts had any pace was getting to the bar after games.DaveMehmet said:

It's the Simonsen 1983 game for me.
My first season of supporting the club and we were on a bad run, as were Chelsea. Only 11,000 there that day but over half were Chelsea fans and they made a huge amount of noise in the ground, on the train, everywhere.
Proper ding-dong game, with them pulling 0-2 back to 2-2. It could have turned to shit then but the little genius had other ideas and we did them 5-2. Proper old-school Chelsea fans I know, still talk about that one.
The other games mentioned were all really good, although I wasn't at The Battle of The Bridge due to cricket duties. Wished I'd been there...0
