Cover to Cover, Who is (s)he and what is (s)he to you.

Probably unfair as I can't find a live recording by Bill of this classic and live performances can often sway a decision(from me).

I'm usually inclined to go with the original, if in fact Bill's is the original version?

But just come across this cover, by Shana Tucker and think it's pretty good.

She's got a good voice but her version is too jazzy for me.

    Bill's funky soul all day.

One of the great paranoia songs along with "backstabbers" and "Paranoid"

    Yes, I’d agree.

I find it impossible to select a cover over an original but it is pretty good but equally its done in a different style.

I first heard the song by Creative Source only found out later it was a Wither's song.

Yes I bought it in 73/74 on Sussex & never knew it was a cover until yesterday, mind you probably haven't played it in 50 years  :D
