Probably unfair as I can't find a live recording by Bill of this classic and live performances can often sway a decision(from me).
I'm usually inclined to go with the original, if in fact Bill's is the original version?
But just come across this cover, by Shana Tucker and think it's pretty good.

I first heard the song by Creative Source only found out later it was a Wither's song.1
