Ordered plain chicken strips, got told it'd take 15mins as they had to cook some from scratch. What were they doing beforehand?1

My lad takes a million photos / videos per game, for interest this was the East Stand concourse towards the end of half time (21.03)killerandflash said:A lot of extra vendors in the Curbs Stand concourse, adding to the overcrowding there.

There were also extra kiosks under the walkway, which took more space up. Plus horrendous queues for the toilets, presumably not helped by the flooded one.0

Was there an ‘exclusive drinks offer’ or not? Anyone know?AFKABartram said:What was the ‘exclusive drinks offer’ inside the stadium between 6.15-7.30?The went on to detail the food offer, but didn’t say what the drinks offer was

A couple of burger stalls opposite the turnstiles of the East Stand would be useful, as long as the exit/entrance could by 'policed' properly.

It needs either the bank excavated or flattened and utilised as an upper platform. It desperately needs more room as if the stand is half full the queues for the food outlets gridlock itletthegoodtimesroll said:

The little stall selling beer only is a great idea. Two lads just pulling pints and barely any queue for it. Everyone else standing in the long queues.4

The East Stand concourse is a proper legacy of when the stand was built, on the cheap and in a rush3

Those photos of the Curbs concourse highlight a health and safety issue, imagine if there was an emergency, i.e a fire...the pandemonium in that area, far too overcrowded and dangerous potential...6
-
Yes it felt a bit unsafe when the extra police were called in to deal with the young one lad being arrested. That all seemed a bit over the top.1

I'm not saying it was Ok, but in an emergency you can go the other way out as welleastterrace6168 said:Those photos of the Curbs concourse highlight a health and safety issue, imagine if there was an emergency, i.e a fire...the pandemonium in that area, far too overcrowded and dangerous potential...0 -
I like the fact it's open air and doesn't have a roof. Find the other stands concourses a bit dingy and claustrophobic. However when it's a large crowd it does become like trying to navigate through a crowd at a festival. Usually head to the memorial garden and steps by the away fans, plenty of room there.
if they could utilise the bank that would make it much better.1 -
Is there not sufficient space/area in the north east end of the Curbs stand to create a Fans Zone refreshment area to draw a big enough chunk of those fans into and ease the pressure on the existing ‘concourse’ ?

That Jerk Chicken stand caused a lot of the problem2

They should put that down by the hut that used to sell programmes and other merchandise.CombeMartin said:That Jerk Chicken stand caused a lot of the problem1 -
this part of the stadium is chronically under utilised, let's be honest. Same as some of the land around the top in the SE Corner. I know people will say it's far away from the stand itself but some kiosks or stands in those areas can really help spread the crowd out on bigger attendances.
Are the disabled parking bays up by Lansdowne Mews ever in use? That's another big area of land that the club own and seemingly isn't used at all4 -

Just going to copy this here as i feel there's an urgency;
Don't mean to detract the thread but just to plant the idea - Can possibly put the absence of Head of Performance in the same bracket as absence of health and safety (Millwall, and possibly Chelsea games), facilities/ stadium management (toilets/ catering/ over-crowding), and effective fan representation as described by @Fanny Fanackapan recently. Is the missing part a decent CEO/ absence of?

I’m sure health and safety would state that the access to the pitch from the East Stand is adequate to ensure public safety in a fire. An also it’s a modern stadium and there is not really any combustable material to actually catch fire. But, for just purely fan comfort, things should be looked at.shine166 said:

I've been in the East stand since it was built, but I've never seen it like that before. We had just as big crowds in the Prem days. I also learnt a long while ago that unless you leave your seat more than 5 mins before half time you wont get a burger or a beer (and drink it) before the 2nd half starts, so I dont bother, and that was when you paid in cash so it took longer than now when you just tap your plastic.
My grandson (age 15) left about 2 mins before halftime saying he was going for a coke and came back just as the 2nd half started with no coke but a plateful of Nachos ! I dont know where he got that from but it wasnt at one of the usual Charlton windows, must have been from one of those other extra stalls so maybe thats why it didnt take as long. Those extra stalls also contributed to the congestion !1 -
The extra stalls in the curbs stand take up tons of room, in the interest of supporter comfort I dont they're worth it. I think they should be removed unless everyone is wedded to the idea of jerk chicken at half time now.1

This was the plan under previous owners...it even got as far as initial planning meeting with the council and sponsorship from Meantime/Asahi. Plan is long dead though I believe.letthegoodtimesroll said:Is there not sufficient space/area in the north east end of the Curbs stand to create a Fans Zone refreshment area to draw a big enough chunk of those fans into and ease the pressure on the existing ‘concourse’ ?0 -
That concourse photograph is frightening.2
-
Tbh, I would expect it to be exactly the same in the Lower West and in the Covered End for when the stands are full (others in those stands please correct my if not the case).jose said:That concourse photograph is frightening.
As I’ve said before, I really think we have 27,000 seats but not the facilities and footprint in certain areas to support that without massive discomfort or issues.I don’t know why it is different to the prem days, but it is.0 -
As for the photos, those were taken right at the end of the half time period. It was busier in the 10 mins before that.1

With regard to having stalls at the the bottom of the ramp, they probably don't want a queue of people in front of those coming through the turnstiles.sam3110 said:
