I know Spurs have looked at him last two transfer windows.
Wouldn't be surprised if we go in for him today.
Not sure he's what we need right now.
We desperately need a left winger and a centre forward over yet another CM.0 -
Well if he fancies it I'm sure we could offer him first team football.JiMMy 85 said:
He's not mad keen on the latter, but does want to get back to England, or at least first team football, to stand a chance of getting in the WC squad. I think that desire might force his hand. Fucking hope not.Bedsaddick said:
He’s exactly what they need . I can see Palace coming in for himLincsaddick said:Gossip on the BBC that he is wanted by Man Utd this January3 -
We would get a tiny amount though because it would be a cross border transfer and we get a FIFA development fee for those 5 months, wouldn't be much thoughse9addick said:3 -
Pretty mad that we get anything, but we’ll take it!TelMc32 said:7 -
I can't grip my head around us getting anything for him but its actually logical. He made an astronomical launchpad to his career
Can't help but think if Chelsea weren't Chelsea with Chelsea finances they would be spewing about that0 -
Chelsea would get very short shrift if they did try spewing about it. The rules have tightened a little now, but it wasn’t long ago that they had 42 players out on loan. They can hardly claim to be nurturing these players when they probably don’t even know who half of them are.Carter said:I can't grip my head around us getting anything for him but its actually logical. Three years ago I was at Cobham filming their loan squad in action for pre-season. Like a reserve team, but made up of players who were specifically designated as players to go out on loan for the year. It was a team worth over £100m!TelMc32 said:

“Loan squad” is one of those modern football terms I wish I’d never heard!JiMMy 85 said:

Is it still as egregious now or have they calmed down a bit on how many players they have out on loan?2 -
Spurs have agreed a fee with Atletico Madrid apparently2

Think it was mentioned somewhere that he didn't want to go there again. Will see if I can dig it out.charltonbob said:

I believe they have, but on the other hand I seem to recall that they had over 200 18+ players on their books at the time we had Gallagher. I dug into it a bit at the time, there were even some details on the website of the loan player unit or whatever they called it. They had three ex pros whose only job was to monitor their progress out on loan. Tore Andre Flo was one, he was supposedly the one who was at Sparrows Lane assuring Gallen that there was no reason why they would want to recall him. Kieran Maguire has said ithe whole unit was and probably still is run as a separate profit centre.se9addick said:

How much is our sell-on fee?1

If that Fabrizio Romano fella is correct, he has turned down Villa for a permanent deal at Spurs.
He must be bonkers.
Will be interesting to see where he fits in. Am I right in saying his best position is as a box to box no.8, as opposed to a sitting 6?! Did he ever play as a 10?
I know Poch saw him as a 6...4 -
Played more as a 10 for us but he was young, enthusiastic and ran about like a headless chicken which actually helped him as he drifted into space in and around the box and scored a few goals.JohnBoyUK said:If that Fabrizio Romano fella is correct, he has turned down Villa for a permanent deal at Spurs.

He's more of an 8 now, but occasionally is used wider by Atleti, on the right of the central midfielders1 -
Played as a 10 for us with late runs into the box from deep. Would suspect in your setup he'll probably be a B2B 8. Would never play him as a 6 , you lose what makes him really fun to watch.JohnBoyUK said:If that Fabrizio Romano fella is correct, he has turned down Villa for a permanent deal at Spurs.

Did he play as a 10 for us? I can remember a few games where he did but I think when we were at our best he was playing as one of the 2 box to box midfielders in the diamond with Jonny Williams (or Oztumer) in the 10. Once the injury crisis hit he carried more responsibility as surrounded by kids like Vennings and was playing even deeper?4

Transfermarkt has him down as a DM for us, maybe against Stoke (they have him down as a AM and even scored a goal)0 -

We also get money for all our sparrows lane lads transferring about (if Lookman ever moves again)0 -

I know Poch saw him as a 6...The midfielder feels he will play more games under Frank than Emery, and he wants to live in London again.Source: https://talksport.com/football/3900554/conor-gallagher-mistake-tottenham-aston-villa-transfer/

Our training compensation will be less than 200k I think. Nice to have but won't even get you close to a decent Championship signingAddick Addict said:How much is our sell-on fee?0 -

The regulations distribute money to clubs that contributed to training, which is normally understood to mean the clubs where the player was registered and developed, not all clubs he merely played for on loan.So basically the money we would get from Lookman (moving cross boarder) we wouldn't get for Gallagher.0 -
If it was down to Villa and Totteringham you would think he'd go to Villa for football reasons.Something tells me the wedge was higher with the 1961 boys.2

That makes sense. Villa already have a quality midfield and decent depthJustFloydRoad said:JohnBoyUK said:If that Fabrizio Romano fella is correct, he has turned down Villa for a permanent deal at Spurs.
