We’re leaving it late to announce it today if he knows his stuff.
Quote when questioned about it by @CB1Message I had this morning was he's at Sparrows Lane this morning and will sign later on today.”

My job is going to be so easy tomorrow. I actually know we are going to announce a signing tomorrow. I may even be greedy and give you a time frame between 9am-10am. How cheeky of me 😉

should have given scanlon time to sign and do a few media shots after his game last night - makes perfect sense

that's 2 midfielders they will have acquired in the last couple of weeks - wonder if brannigan is off or his injury has developed into something major - dreaming here but if he's fit and we signed brannigan tomorrow i'd start to properly belief we have serious intent - keep your best players and take the best players from your nearest competitors is a tried and tested formula

It closes on 2nd February, but I get your point. 1 signing every 4-5 days on average. Let’s hope we get at least a couple through the door as soon as possible.

Whilst I am hopeful our patience will pay off with regards to a LWB I am a little nervous about the next 2-3 games without one.

I would absolutely have taken a Purrington type early in the window while we work on the signing we actually want. Someone probably not good enough for the level but who can fill the gap temporarily give us our shape and solidity back and then be on the bench as cover until Edwards is back. Then worst case if something falls through with the player(s) we want we have Edwards hopefully back soon and this guy is emergency cover.

I just think it would have been worth the cost to make sure we aren't over exposed.
  • I really don't care about centre forwards or midfielders. Just buy a flipping left back and centre back before the next two massive home games.

Expecting Campbell to have another good game at lwb after Chelsea is madness and expecting Bell to rise from the injury table is also not happening... So if Gillispey is anywhere on that pitch then we are in big trouble.

Two weeks into the window and we only have one right back signed with zero appearances.... That is a very poor return and shows that our our owners (at the moment) appear to have closed their wallets.

No point in scoring goals if we concede as easy as we do.

This is up there with Golfie levels of drivvle

In theory that might work, but in reality I’m not sure it’s a good idea at all. No player is going to sign for us knowing that’s the plan, so you’d have to lie to them and sell them the dream, before then signing their replacement. You’ve then got one justifiably pissed off player for the rest of the season, our culture and environment seems to be a big reason for our success so I don’t think you want to risk having a really pissed off player here. Plus word travels around fast in football, you don’t want to be known as a club that lies to players to get them to sign

Also we have a budget, I’d rather put the budget towards getting the best player, than waste it on signing someone to play for a few games. Realistically this player is going to have to be bought from league 1, (unless we want to ruin our already poor reputation as a loaning club) what a waste of a fee and wages that could help go towards the better player we actually want
