Dont necessarily see Dykes as scoring a lot of goals. If anything I see him, like Leaburn, being the sort of Striker that'll link the Midfield with Kelman, will pull players out of position and just be an overall nuisance.
He feels the proper sort of Striker that is available in January.
Always love it when people pop up with the line..."he's not a goalscorer as he creates space for others.. ".

If you play up front its your job to score. Can't keep leaving it to others.
The world must be so simple to you. Just a complete lack of nuance in everything you see

I’m not saying it with very much optimism today but it wouldn’t be the start of a day without it. I’ve got a small feeling we are going to announce a signing today.

    I’d keep Tanto.

If we moved to a 3-4-3, his pace would be a huge asset. Campbell and Olaofe either side would frighten the life out of defences.

Realistically though, we’re unlikely to play that way. So if Jones wants him out on loan, I can’t argue too much, he’s paid to make those calls and not me for some mad reason.

Yuck. I actually agree with this take.

However I believe he will chip in with goals if we can get the service right. Probably more chance from dead ball situations.

Incidentally not a transfer rumour but to all those who are expecting money spent by the owners. Ticket sales look slow for tomorrow’s big game. This goes hand in hand with budget so buy a ticket!

We are a very direct team which should suit him more than the possession based Birmingham team he was in.

stockport just released 2 LWB's who were on loan there so the player we'd probably want is pye but he won't be sold this window

Ridiculous to even think he was tbh.

Godden is only just about to return from a big injury and having not played all season, at 34 who knows how he'll hold up and if Leaburn was to pick up another of his long term injuries we're then relying on Kelman, Dykes and the wingerforwardback TC.

He might not be up to the standard long term but Tanto has shown his worth to the squad in patches.

take 2 of them and make sure one's Scanlon would be my advice
What about Scanlon has you convinced he's fit/even good at this level?
Fitness is definitely a huge question mark. But I think it’s fair to say he’d be good at this level. Millwall signed him, and they are a team pushing play offs which is better than we are at the moment. He started pretty well for them in his brief time before getting injured. So I think it’s fair to see he’s a championship level player, but the fitness/injury side of it would mean I’d rather we brought someone else in
Alex Neil essentially said he wasn't good enough when he was returned to Liverpool and he did only play 5 games for them, just seeing a lot of red flags with Scanlon once you interrogate it a little, he doesn't look like someone ready to come in at this level with all things considered but hard to say that with confidence when I hadn't heard his name before 2 weeks ago
He didn’t say that. He just said that he probably wouldn’t have played much because they replaced him when he got injured and they were doing very well at the time, wasn’t a comment on his ability. You can’t read too much into his time at Millwall as it was only a few games but the fact they signed him and put him in their team says to me he’s good enough for us

The injury/fitness is a huge red flag, and I wouldn’t sign him due to that. If he did sign and got fit though then I think he’d easily be good enough for us at this level
I am full of admiration for you guys. I have never understood a single word Alex Neil utters. I suspect this is why his managerial career has been a bit iffy. He could be the best coach in the world but nobody understands what he is trying to get across. I guess he fits in well at Millwall because they communicate in grunts there.

Sadly technically not good enough for us

Any chance of us getting Harry Amass on loan? He’s back at Man U after his loan ended at Wednesday.
Hes been a very bright spark in their horrid season, plus he’s match fit.

So your mate (Stockport captain's dad) said he is going then?

Figured I'd just ask outright to squash your deliberately vague posts

I thought he'd have someone lined up already but clearly not. Stoke and Watford have been mentioned though who we can't really compete with and they always have the back up option of sending him back to the massives if a club higher up the table don't call. I don't think we'll get him

Amass is the only player I’ve seen that’s given Edwards a run for his money. Would be a good replacement for Bree.

i said i couldn't say because its too obvious where the info has come from and i'm not gonna say - its not a straight yes or no answer either as always there are various factors involved including stockport looking to sign a permanent striker

Stockport might want Tanto and we might have entertained their offer to see if it was worth it, that doesn't mean we ever properly intended on letting him go out on loan

Why would you replace a RWB with a LWB?

Isn’t Amass left footed - so he’d be instead of/as well as Edwards?

Probably nothing in it and it's so they have squad depth themselves but the Nigel's have recalled Danny Imray from Blackpool.

  • I’d take Imray, looks a seriously quality player. Won’t be good enough for the prem but a decent champ player

Guess that depends if we're not keeping Bree... with Clarke and Ramsay its not an area we really need now.

Unless one or both of them gets injured,
