Guess that depends if we're not keeping Bree... with Clarke and Ramsay its not an area we really need now.
Lets not get drawn into the trap of having players covering multiple positions. It leaves us with not enough depth. Thats why we're having problems on the left side of defence. We have just got to a point on the right side and centre of defence where we have 2 players per position. Lets not throw that away because we have players who can cover there. If Bree goes back we need another RWB. or another RCB if the play is to use Clarke/Ramsay there.

Dont necessarily see Dykes as scoring a lot of goals. If anything I see him, like Leaburn, being the sort of Striker that'll link the Midfield with Kelman, will pull players out of position and just be an overall nuisance.
He feels the proper sort of Striker that is available in January.
Always love it when people pop up with the line..."he's not a goalscorer as he creates space for others.. ".

If you play up front its your job to score. Can't keep leaving it to others.
Is a butchers job to cut up meat or to serve customers?

The world must be so simple to you. Just a complete lack of nuance in everything you see
Can you imagine seeing the world so black and white. Must be really boring
I appreciate both you and Canters efforts but you surely know that you are wasting your time with Golfie, we can turn if we want to but Golfie is not for turning.

We have heard Jones talk a lot about building from a solid foundation and then "layering on" the more attacking aspects of his sides as the season goes on. We saw it very clearly last season and the same pattern happened with his Luton sides. Last season it was a little derailed by the injury crisis but things really started to click when players came back (we also found the perfect setup) and we went on a run.

This season the same thing has happened. There has been evidence of the layering on of attacking threat, players learning the system and new patterns of play. Leaburn has grown into the role he has been learning, hes also grown into the league. Kelman has adapted and started scoring. Starting with Doc in midfield as the defensively solid, positionally sound option then moving to JRC who is better on the ball and more progressive with it - I think Doc will play the tougher games, particularly away but JRC will play when we want to do more with the ball. Dykes coming in will hopefully be another layer to this in providing some experience and dark arts up top, enabling us to always have a big man option to come off the bench thus maintaining intensity and pressure for the full games. The issue has been the injuries in defence have left us exposed so these havent resulted in as many points as they should have.

This underlines the importance of good defensive signings this window (particularly LWB but also adding depth). If we get this right and sort the defence out getting back to the solidity we started the season with I think things will come together for us and look a whole lot better. I am convinced we have it in us to go on a bit of a run and cause some shocks like we did early season. Enough of a run to put us safely mid table with a few games to go.

Oxford are rumoured to be in for Charlie Savage for £500k, I think he would be a great No.8 for us in the middle as the box-to-box midfielder next to Coventry

Triple that offer at least and they might be close.

Ethan Pye's odds on signing for us have just come in to 3.14159/1.
    I’d have a slice of that 👍

If we are going after Reading midfielders I’d much rather look at Lewis Whing. Consistently scores goals, takes a great set piece and looks a good all rounder.

Oxford a spending money left right and centre. Desperate times for them. Can see them having back to back relegations

Wasn’t he pictured in the summer wearing CAFC shirts in the gym?

Any chance of us getting Harry Amass on loan? He’s back at Man U after his loan ended at Wednesday.
Hes been a very bright spark in their horrid season, plus he’s match fit.
Amass is the only player I’ve seen that’s given Edwards a run for his money. Would be a good replacement for Bree.
Edwards was injured when we played Wednesday and even if he wasn’t, Amass would be on the other side of the pitch

Would be a great signing - i know all the theory about where would he fit in to the system etc etc - wouldn't worry about that, we're desperate for some players who can go past people and open teams up

I like the idea of signing Pye from Stockport

They are in a good position to be promoted , so they probably wouldn't want to sell even with Tanto returning. Could we make it a 2 for 1 and offer Macca as well?

Although the consensus is that he is not a Championship defender , he is a double L1 promotion winner so could be a direct replacement for Pye.

We could have had Imray a couple of years ago but Mr Gallen wasn't interested.

Blackpool fans adore him and he would be a very decent capture.

Wasn't one I have any kind of inside info on , just a name I thought I'd throw in there as he's come up on here in the past and wasn't sure if he was being recalled to be in the Nigel's first team or loaned back out.

Or staying up as they've invested in a critical window....

I know it’s a difficult window but considering our plight think we’ve been conservative with our incoming’s. There’s no point saying we’re going to invest in the summer when we’re so close to the relegation zone. I’m not complaining our group from Reading have been on board & supported the new owners/Jones. Lacking quality isn’t easy to put right in such a short space of time.

Had he actually heard of him, unlike Ellis ?

It'll end sometime during the game tomorrow, when someone from his parent club Southampton will run onto the pitch and drag him off unless we pay them another £100k in used £20 notes.

Yes.  Because he had a detailed report sent to him.  At the time he was happy with right sided options and Imray was untested in league football.  Sadly it was clear he was ready to step up but we weren’t in a position to do anything at that time.  I was scouting for a loan option for Hartlepool at the time but he was so good I sent a report to Charlton too.
